I found Studio G in June of 2016 and have been a devotee ever since. Be warned... this review is…read moreactually a rave!!! FIVE STARS!!! Barckground: When it comes to fitness, I've done it all....I've done the traditional gym route... free weights, and loooots of cardio. Heck, I've even been a personal trainer before. I've done the home workout thing... p90X, barre workouts, good stuff. I've even done CrossFit... loved it. Whereas I've enjoyed many aspects of all the aforementioned types of exercise, I've never done type of exercise that I like so well as I do Pilates, and more particularly Pilates at Studio G. Studio G specializes in classical Pilates in individual or small group setting. Genevieve, and her team have done a phenomenal job of creating a warm and welcoming vibe in the Studio where people of all fitness levels feel at home. I find it sad that one often encounters a snobby attitude towards out-of-shape people at gyms and fitness studios. Trust me, you will not encounter that type of attitude here. Positive vibes only!! If you're looking to get back in shape, like I was, or, if you're an exercise fiend and you'd like to take your workouts to the next level, I assure you, Studio G has you covered! Pilates is very scalable to practically all level of fitness. All of the instructors are highly skilled and each bring their own unique strengths and personalities to the workouts. I've been a regular of Genevieve and Ryan for quite some time and thoroughly enjoy my workouts with each of them. I highly recommend either of them!! I've also had a couple of workouts with Tish and recommend her as well. She knows her stuff!! Both of the Studio G facilities are amazing. I love the 29th Court S location for group exercise. It's such a beautiful space with tall ceilings and large mirrors. The main studio on Oxmoor Rd is a wonderful space too. There's a nice front room with a couch an ottomans to sit on while you wait for your lesson and 3 separate rooms with various types of Pilates equipment. There's also a dedicated room for active isolated stretching and myofascial release...another great offering from the Studio! As a client, I appreciate that all of the instructors are required to pass a very rigorous and lengthy training course before they can instruct at Studio G. The level of training really translates into great workouts for the client. The instructors are very adept at diagnosing how the client can improve their form etc for maximum benefit. You really get your money's worth. In addition to the initial training, the instructors often attend seminars to hone their expertise and expand their knowledge base. I also love the focus of the mind body connection in Pilates. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos of our fast paced lives. Pilates is a great way to disconnect from the stressful state so many of us live in, reconnect with our bodies, and renew our minds. Pilates requires intense concentration to properly execute the movements from our center (core) with control, precision, and flow, all while incorporating deep breathing to power and fuel the movement. To me, Pilates is in an exercise league of its own - An exercise program that focuses on mind, body and spirit, that's capable of meeting the beginner no matter where their starting point is, but also very capable of challenging even the fittest amount us. I couldn't more highly recommend Pilates at Studio G!

I wanted so much to love this studio as much as the one I went to in Florida, but sadly I was…read moreterribly disappointed. The good: the workout was great and I definitely felt it both during class and after! That's the great thing about Pure Barre, they follow the basics same format and the actual workouts are super effective. The not-so-good: 1) Studio - there were no benches to sit to take off shoes and put on socks. This may sound petty, but after a workout, it can be a challenge to stand and put our shoes on! 2) Instructor - the instructor did come up and introduce herself to me, which I appreciated, but she never came around to correct my form (which I know for sure was wrong a few times). I know I had told her I had been to PureBarre before, so I wasn't brand new, but I also told her I was relatively new. She also never asked me about injuries (which I have several) like they did at the other studio. I don't know... maybe she was just preoccupied. Also, I had a really difficult time hearing her cues. I love having the music blasting as it keeps me going, but I just couldn't hear the instructor over the music for most of the class. 3) Staff - while the gals in the front were very friendly, I didn't feel "welcomed" like I did at the other studio I went to in Florida. The two of them were busy chatting and I kinda felt like I was interrupting each time I needed to ask a question. No one showed me around the studio - I had to ask where the restroom was, where equipment was, where the front of class was, etc. And no one even asked me my name. I know, it seems like a little thing, but I just felt like "another person" and they didn't really care one way or another if I enjoyed my workout or wanted to join. I don't like to leave negative reviews and if you read my previous review for Pure Barre in Orlando, you can see how different I felt after going to that studio. Maybe I'm just not being fair by comparing this studio to that one. Maybe that studio was exceptional and maybe those instructors were a rarity with how motivating and caring they were. And maybe I got my hopes up by thinking it would the same type of experience here. I did go back to another class with a different instructor, but pretty much felt the same way about that experience. So sad because I really love the Pure Barre workouts.
