Salang Kabob House has been on my list of places to try for some time now, so I was thrilled when I saw that they had a BOGO (buy one get one free) special on UberEats. It was $19.99 BOGO for a Mixed Shami Platter. So this is what I got. Each platter came with a ground chicken kabob, a ground beef kabob, rice, salad and naan. It was a lot of food and a great deal. I enjoyed the chicken shami, but I found the beef shami a bit gamey. The kabobs had a good flavour to them. The rice was soft and fluffy and nicely seasoned, but a little bit oily for my tastes. The salad was iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and red onions. Vegetables were fresh and crisp. The salad came with a spicy red sauce, which I liked, and a creamy dressing, which I didn't use. The naan was tasty and I appreciated that it didn't have pesky sesame seeds sprinkled on it like some other places. I ordered for pickup and the food was ready in about 15-20 minutes. Pickup was quick and efficient. The restaurant has lots of seating inside. There's free parking available in front of the restaurant. The parking is shared with neighbouring businesses. (102)

I was in Ottawa for a quick trip from Toronto, checking out new beauty supply brands for my salon, and decided to start my morning at Ottawa Kabab. It was exactly what I needed! I got there just as they opened at 11 a.m., and the atmosphere was calm and welcoming, perfect for a solo breakfast before a busy day. I ordered the chickpeas with vegetables and olive oil and the chickpeas with yogurt--and let me tell you, the flavors were just incredible. The olive oil on the chickpeas was rich and aromatic, blending beautifully with the fresh vegetables. The yogurt dish, creamy and tangy with just the right kick of garlic, reminded me of my dad's homemade Lebanese breakfasts. The fresh, warm bread tied everything together--it was like a little piece of home away from home. Ottawa Kabab is the kind of place where you can tell the food is made with love and care. I'm already planning my next visit on my way back to Toronto! If you love authentic Middle Eastern food, this spot is a must-try.

They sell Pide under the name Ottawa Kabab too, but bigger and more expensive, the ones I got are smaller. I got the meat one ($4.99 BOGO ) and the cheese and sausage one (also $4.99 BOGO). Both were delicious. The meat Pide was filled with ground meat. It was flavourful and smelled so good. The cheese and sausage Pide had lots of cheese and little cubes of sausage. It was tasty, but I preferred the meat one. Although my husband liked the cheese and sausage better, so I guess it depends on your tastes. At any rate, we both agreed that they were delicious. I ordered on UberEats for pickup. Staff were friendly and efficient. They even wrote "Thank you" with a smiley face on my takeout box, lol. The restaurant itself has some seating inside as well as a patio. The parking situation is the only downfall. There is free parking in front of the restaurant, but there are not too many spaces and it's very tight. Difficult to maneuver around. Street parking is available but not the easiest to find nor convenient. Glad this place popped up on my UberEats deals :)

A bit pricey but worth the splurge…read more I was looking for a place to get food for my family for Good Friday and decided to try Turkish Anatolia Restaurant since we love trying new restaurants and my parents haven't had much Turkish food. My dad loves variety, so I got the Mix Kebab Meal for 4 ($109.99) which comes with chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, chicken breast kebab, beef steak kebab, chicken wings, 2 different types of ground red meat kebabs, salad, bread, and your choice of rice or bulgur (and I requested half and half). I added 2 orders of the Sigari Boregi ($7.49) as well. I called in my order and it was ready for pickup in 30 minutes. Service was quick and efficient. The food was a hit. As expected, my dad loved the variety. My brother and sister-in-law enjoyed it too. We were 6 adults and it was plenty of food. We even had some leftovers. All the meats were delicious. Very flavourful and moist and tender. The rice was plain white rice, but the texture was great. Soft and fluffy. The bulgur was also soft and fluffy. The meats also came with grilled tomatoes and grilled jalapeno peppers. The peppers were really spicy. There were also 2 small containers of a creamy garlicky sauce, which was also good. The salad was excellent. In addition to lettuce, there were red onions, carrots, cabbage, tomatoes and crumbled feta cheese. It came with 2 small containers of creamy salad dressing and a small container of oil. We didn't use the oil, but the dressing was delicious. The Sigari Boregi were rolls of phyllo pastry with salty cheese. They were crispy and tasty, but a bit too salty for my liking. Although we got takeout, they have plenty of seats for dining in. The meal was a bit more than what we usually spend, but it was well worth it. Lots of free parking available in the plaza where the restaurant is located. It's next to the Real Fruit Bubble Tea and is where the King Shawarma used to be (was a Prince Shawarma before that). (53)

My friend got the Chicken Breast Kabob ($14.98) which was 1 skewer of chicken breast kabobs, rice, salad and naan bread. My Chicken Shami was moist and very flavourful. It was well marinated and quite tasty. The rice was soft and fluffy. The salad was fresh, but a bit boring with just iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions. Be warned that the non-creamy sauce that looks like salad dressing is very spicy. Unless you love hot spicy food, do not make the mistake that my friend made by dumping all that sauce on the salad without tasting it first, lol. The white creamy sauce was not spicy, and tasted good with the chicken. I'm actually not sure which one is supposed to go on the salad, lol. The naan flatbread was fantastic and my favourite part of the meal. It was a bit crispy on the outside, but had a good amount of chew to it. There were some small blisters on the bread. I love blistery bread! I will be dreaming of this bread. Yeah, it was that good! Since we were in the midst of the second wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic during our visit, indoor dining was closed again, so it was takeout only. They normally have a lot of seating indoors. They don't have a patio. Service was efficient. There's free parking in the plaza parking lot.

Short story: Love Persian food? Come here. Period…read more Here's the scoop. I had an interesting Friday in Ottawa. I had my car's windshield chip repaired. I then went shopping. At around 2 pm, I felt like a late lunch. I did a search and found Silk Road Kabob House nearby. Perfect! It's located in a large plaza with lots of parking. I backed into a spot and walked in. There were two diners when I had arrived. I had a nice woman welcome me and was my server during my entire stay. This place has combo specials. I had brought my appetite and ordered two of them: - Mantu (six) - Lamb combination (lamb kabob and koobideh kabob) with salad and basmati rice I got water and a Diet Coke to start. Both were cold and perfect to enjoy. I got starter naan (silk bread) with butter. The naan was so good. It was baked fresh and hot, allowing the butter to effortlessly melt on it. So good! I ate the whole thing, which I normally don't do. My mantu came out first. I got six of these steamed dumplings. They were filled with onions, and ground beef and lamb. They were drizzled with yogurt, with split peas sprinkled around each dumpling. OMG! They were fantastic. Each one was packed full of flavourful filling. The wrapper was the perfect thickness that kept the filling in, but wasn't too thick that made you chew incessantly. The yogurt and chick peas were paired so well with the dumplings. I highly recommend getting mantu here. My lamb combination came out next. There was so much food. I surprised myself by polishing off everything because the entire meal was delicious. The lamb kabob was yummy. The morsels of lamb were tender and seasoned nicely. The lamb koobideh was a ground lamb kabob that was nicely seasoned and equally as scrumptious as the lamb morsels. Excellent! The salad was fresh and crisp. I enjoyed it so much. The basmati rice was generous. It didn't have a whole lot of flavour, so I recommend mixing it up with the proteins and salad. I paid with a credit card. I tipped and all was well. Before I left, I used the washroom. It was clean. It was to the left of the counter at the back of this eatery. I let the nice woman know that the food was excellent. She was pleased. I wished her a pleasant day and left that I waddled out the door with a content tummy. I miss the food at this eatery. If you love Persian food, especially lamb and mantu, come here. You'll be so happy with the food here. (322)
