I'm sorry but when it comes to gelato, this didn't quite do it for me. I wanted it to be more…read morecreamy consistency. I thought it was more like ice cream, even also grainy. I tried the white strawberry chocolate and the meringue. The servings are generous. But I didn't like the texture. Maybe it was a bad batch? The highlight for me was seeing my foodie dreams come true with Nutella and dark chocolate on tap. The dark chocolate hardens, just like Ice Magic. The scoops were towering over my little cone making it a challenge to eat before it melted all over my hands while the heater was blazing inside.

I am about so say something quite controversial so take a deep breath and brace yourself... Zero…read moreGradi is possibly better than Messina. THERE I SAID IT. I had a unquenchable hankering for chocolate last night and after a few complimentary tastings, I went for chocolate, creme brulee and strawberry in a cup (three flavours = seven clams). The strawberry was MIND-BLOWING and easily the standout of the three. Alos, I must say, they have done a helluva job on the fitout. It is slick, shiny and almost futuristic in appearance. Behind the gelato bar are beautifully laid out cones and wafers in glass boxes and two chocolate fountains (yes you read correctly. Chocolate fountains.) It certainly has wow factor. Each serve comes with a wafer and the option to have it covered in white or dark chocolate from the fountains, which then goes hard. Yes! Like Ice Magic! Sure. It doesn't have the chunky bits or crazy flavours we've come to know and love at Messina, but for top notch gelati that will quench your sweet tooth, Zero Gradi ticks the boxes.

It was pretty funny when I took a look on their website and saw a picture of an enthusiastic…read moresmiling woman... then recalling the not-so-enthusiastic guy who just seemed bored. I really like how you can choose up to 3 flavours for a cup. One thing I do have to applaud Trampoline Gelato for is its variety so it makes it easy to try out different flavours. I ordered: Banana, Pokey Pokey (honeycomb and butterscotch), and Creme Caramel. All of it was okay, but there was nothing really special and out of the ordinary about it. There are better gelato places around Melbourne, but this definitely does make for a fine recommended option if you are in the Brunswick area. NOTES: ~ There is very limited seating. They have a bar-like seating area with few chairs and some outside seating but that is about it. So, I don't recommend coming here for a large group and planning on staying. Overall, I would have absolutely no problem with coming here again, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to find this place or have a massive craving.

I've been avoiding going to this ice cream parlor for 7 years. Anyway, Trampoline is now there and has run off all the competition with their brightly coloured signs and street stools, pastel clad staff and offensive choice of radio station (I'm not going to get into that here). Now I'm not an old fuddy dudy who hates change, and only likes things the way they used to be - far from it. It's just that this store's style doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, but I am an uncle and my young niece likes bright colours and ice cream. So I stepped across the threshold and entered the brightest dark side I've ever been to. I tried the Hazelnut and to be fair, it was pretty yummy, not as creamy as Charmaine's, or maybe that's just me being biased. The bad radio was there and the offensive bright colours and my niece loved every minute of it.
