This place is magical. It has a whole bunch of transformers, GI Joe, War Hammer, He Man, Star wlWars and Gundam stuff that I haven't seen since childhood. This is basically an adult toy store or the most awesome toy store if you could get your parents to buy this stuff for you! I'm not sure how to value these toys but I do know this store has availability and there is value there. Come check it out if you are a fan of Hasbro, Star Wars, Dragon Ball Z or anime. They should just rename this place Cybertron because of all the Transformers that live here. So, I've been an on-again-off-again Transformers collector over my lifetime. When I got my career going, my first goal was to buy all the Transformers my parents could never afford when I was growing up. That's where Ages Three and Up came in. A guy called Spencer opened up the original shop in East Vancouver almost 2 decades ago, and they specialized in vintage (i.e. used) Transformers as well as Japanese imports and re-issues. To cultivate a good customer base, A3U also had periodic fan nights where customers got together to watch cartoons, trade figures and talk Transformers. They also routinely had guest voice-actors from the cartoons at these gatherings to mingle with the guests. How cool was that? These events were free, only about 2 dozen people ever showed up, and everyone had a great time. At the East Vancouver location, I spent thousands of dollars on Transformers. Eventually, the store closed down. I eventually heard that they had moved east to either Coquitlam or Burnaby, but by then, I had satiated my Transformers fix because I had amassed virtually every Transformer I ever wanted. When I started working in Coquitlam, I stumbled across A3U in a strip mall. New location, new owners. Still Transformers-centric. They have a lot of Transformers, especially Masterpiece figures that are marketed towards adult collectors. Starting at over $100 each, these figures are engineered to be difficult to transform, but as close to cartoon accurate as possible. Expect to pay over $500 for the top-of-the-line figures. They also have a lot of "third-party Transformers", which is a fancy way of saying "knock-off". These aren't Hasbro/Takara/Tomy-licensed products. Instead, other companies have re-imagined the Transformers, and engineered toys that are meant to be tributes to the original characters. So, you will have a figure called "Lucifer" who resembles Starscream in most details, but is not an exact copy of any existing Takara/Hasbro product. Color scheme is the same, transformation is very similar, but just a different name. Apparently, these toys have been created by fans who wanted to create their "perfect" Transformers. And, they are amazing toys in their own right. And, if you think that they are cheap and inferior to the originals, you would be wrong. In fact, many of these "third-party" toys are more expensive than the official, licensed products. In addition to the Transformers, A3U also has a small offering of products from DC and Marvel Universes. They also carry modelling supplies, model kits, games and statues. However, the main reason I love coming to A3U is to see their display cabinets filled with 100's of Transformers from multiple toy lines and eras. In the few times I've been here, I can tell the staff are really passionate about Transformers and related toys. I see what appear to be regulars being warmly greeted. Prices can be shocking for the uninitiated, but remember, this store is for people with the means to buy their childhood dreams. If you are really desperate to save a few bucks, some online vendors will have the same products for a bit cheaper. But, here, you get to touch and hold what you want to buy. Parking is ample, and Skytrain is nearby. I would suggest bringing a platinum credit card if you plan on buying anything. No need to take a space-bridge to Cybertron to see Transformers anymore. 10 months and several very patient inquiries later, and I still have not received my order. I purchased several pre-order items in October 2021. All items were listed as expected for release in 2021 Q4 or 2022 Q1. By April 2022 I had heard nothing from the company regarding my order and reached out for an update. I was ignored. I followed up a few days later, and finally received a response that one item expected in 2021 Q4 has still not arrived and was holding up my order. I reached out again in June 2022 asking for an update, as I had seen the delayed item in question available elsewhere. I indicated that if they were unable to provide a timeline for delivery that I would like a refund on the delayed item and the remaining items to be shipped. I was again ignored. I reached out, yet again, at the beginning of August 2022, requesting a response and refund of the delayed item or for the entire order. I also advised them that, as they were not responding to inquiries and I had been waiting for nearly 10 months for this order to be fulfilled, that if my inquiry continued to be ignored I would have no option but to reach out to my credit card issuer for a chargeback in 14 days. Unfortunately, my inquiry continues to be ignored and I will be reaching out to my CC issuer in four days, as specified, to request a chargeback for this order. I had never purchased from Ages Three and Up before, but decided to take a chance on supporting a small Canadian business during the pandemic. The new Ages Three and Up is a VAST improvement over the old location. Now located in the old HMV spot this place is filled with Transformers, Starwars, and stuff related to table top gaming. They also has items related to BJD, and BJD customization such as customizable dolls, Toners, and doll outfits.. They have some stuff from other series such as Macross Valkeryies, Gundam, the Arbalest from Full Metal Panic, and some super hero stuff. These guys love their transformers. This store PROVES that. They even have Japanese transformer toys, and have mecha shows playing on the stores TV. They have a couple of other figurines such as Iron Man, and Batman revoltechs. Part of me hopes they will bring in some other figurines, and maybe even a few comic books, and maybe dvds for mecha shows but this stores new location just opened so we will see! In the back of the store they have tables setup for table top gaming. I'm guessing tournaments and games will be taking place here in the future! This store also dare I say it a nerd store that is wheelchair accesible? Unless they put tons of shelving in from when I last when you can get a wheelchair in and out of this place easy which I couldn't say about the old location. Not bad place. I com here now and then. Love all the Transformers, little bit high in price but it a specialty store. Spent $250 I asked if they could give me a little break on the price if I bought more. Unfortunately they could not do anything for me. I understand for an independent store. So I bought $660 at another place and another $150 somewhere else. It would also be cool if they labeled there used action figures complete or if any thing is missing. OK I will have to admit that I will write this review for my BF. Just to let you know that he is not 6 years old but his heart was, once he entered this store. His eyes were sparkling ....cute !!!! Now it is great store for people who loves Transformers, Spawn, Star Wars, ... I was amazed by the choice of toys and other goodies. To me the price is expensive, but now my BF would promise me that it is the price that it is supposed to be. It is a clean store, very spacious and the service was great. Large store filled with LOTS of transformers. So if your a transformers fan, it's defiantly worth checking out. They even had models imported from japan. The store also has a good selection of Gundam kits at good price. They also have a few magic cards, games and other interesting items. However as a collectible/hobby store it primarily focuses on transformers so if your looking for super heroes, sci-fi, comics, etc... look else where. read more

This is one cool store and is packed full of great selection of collectibles, board games, action figures (also parts in case you want to do modifications of your own). I got my teenagers a couple of board games on the advice of the staff members because I didn't know what to buy and my kids were thrilled because they couldn't find them in other lower mainland stores and were going to have to order them online. I purchased a game before Christmas and was informed I could get a refund within 30 days if I don't open the box. I went back after Christmas and received terrible customer service and was told I could not refund the game. I used to enjoy visiting this store and looking for new games. This store is not my usual haunt, reminds a bit to much of the comic book store in the Big Bang theory but a quick check in today reminded me why it's always best to check the little guy. The store has recently added board games to its line up of stuff and I was looking for good old Settlers of Cataan for an Xmas gift. Earlier I had spied the game at one of those seasonal calendar stores elsewhere in the mall. They had it for $54.99. I knew Starlite Citadel sold it for quite a bit less but they were out of stock so I braved the army of captain sweatpants playing war hammer and went to Ages 3 and up. Found the game for $35.98. Same mall, $19 dollar price difference. It certainly paid to check the independent retailer and skip the chain!!! read more

I was at Lougheed Mall down in Burnaby BC just the other day looking for a birthday gift for my dad and I came across Ages Three & Up. They have a wide selection of Transformers along with Gundams and 12 inch figures, but what really caught my eyes was they have vintage G1 figures dated back from the 1980s! Many of those figures mint and still sealed in the box and I thought what could possibly be better than an original G1 Figure for my father who grew up with Transformers! The day he received his G1 Mail-in Rebate Optimus Prime he was more than thrilled! Very helpful and informative staff as well, they know their stuff. read more
