This bakery is near another business I frequent, so I was curious and stopped in.
The owner is LOVELY and told me a lot about her business and how she came to own it. I got a loaf of the Agege bread and some coconut macaroons (which were awesome, one of my favorite kinds of cookies).
The Agege bread for which the baker is named is fricking awesome. It's a big square loaf, cut into thick slices like Texas toast. It cooks in a pan with a lid, which keeps it square (like a Pullman loaf), and the recipe makes it in stretchy & bouncy, dense (complimentary) delicious white bread. It's a tiny bit sweet but in a sandwich bread way, not like a dessert.
It's the best commercial bread I've ever had. Great sandwiches, DELICIOUS toast ...I can't wait to make French toast.
I'll be back. Often. read more
