The food was very flavorful, however, the temperature of the food was only warmish. Prices were good. Blue corn chips were a nice touch. Margs were flavorful, but lacked substance (alcohol). The service is extremely slow! The food is good, BUT THE SERVICE IS EXTREMELY SLOW! It took 30 minutes just to bring out our drinks. The food took at least 45 minutes. Its was ridiculous. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, colorful good spacing. But just extremely slow. I ordered a carne Asada Street taco and a squid taco. If you're looking for an unforgettable Mexican dining experience, this is the place! After trying nearly every spot in the NoCO area, we finally found a winner. The restaurant serves up a unique Mexican Fusion that's both innovative and authentic. When our food arrived, it looked so beautifully presented that we almost didn't want to eat it--but we're glad we did! I had the grilled burrito, and it was everything I hoped for: big, bursting with flavor, yet somehow light and not overly filling. My wife ordered the Agave Cantina Nachos, and I was blown away. I had no idea nachos could taste that good--I was full, but I just couldn't stop eating them! The atmosphere is a fun mix of modern design with some traditional Mexican touches that make it feel warm and inviting. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, which made the whole meal that much more enjoyable. To top it off, we met the owner and chef, Fausto. He was incredibly welcoming, humble, and clearly passionate about what he does. We are so excited about this place! LOCATION is central and a free parking garage nearby which beats downtown any day. DECOR is very cool, we loved the indoor tree and the overall vibe. It's HUGE so plenty of seating for large parties and you're not right next to other people like some other restaurants (Rio Grande). DRINK selection is a plenty and some even affordable. We can't wait to try the margarita flights. Happy hour includes $6 margaritas and discounted food. FOOD was mostly good. The Mole enchiladas were a bit spicy and bland. The TACOS are amazing especially the Ensenadas taco. The plate presentation was fun and attractive. Portions are small for price. I was still hungry after two tacos so I was bummed about that. Overall PRICES are a bit high. Three of us got food and total of 2 cocktails and it would have been almost $100 with tip. Luckily we had a Valpak coupon for 20% off. It was good but not great. Service was sub par and we were there at a slower time: 2pm. We got 3 salsas: Abuelita, Mango and Verde. Didn't love any of them. They use store bought chips instead of making their own. We got the chicken flautas which were good but were sweet which was odd. They use this a brown mayo sweet sauce on a few of their things. We got tacos too. The Al pastor was very good. The Macho was meh and the potato/chorizo was meh. I wouldn't go back. Taco Stop and Los Chingnones are better. read more

Food: If your idea of a taco salad is a fried taco bowl with taco meat, then you'll like it. I prefer my salads to have at least lettuce. They were accommodative when asked and brought me lettuce to put in my bowl of ground beef. Realizing now why this item isn't on their menu and only offered as a lunch special (and not described anywhere). And I prefer my glassware not to have lipstick stains from a previous user. I do feel for the restaurants at the mall. This was high noon on a weekday and there weren't a handful of diners. Perhaps it's more of a dinner place? read more

We went here for the first time tonight and loved it. The food was delicious- great flavor and so much to choose from. The atmosphere was also amazing. Super fun and decorated so nicely. They lost a star when we asked for to-go boxes and they brought us styrofoam, which was a major bummer. Putting hot food in styrofoam is not good for our health nor is styrofoam OK for the environment.. there are much better options that won't contaminate our bodies or the planet. read more

Service was beyond SLOW! They brought out wrong items to the table twice, even though they were not that busy. Food is beyond pricey for Mexican food, that's not even "real" Mexican food. I feel like the boujee Mexican food trend is overrated, has tiny artsy portions, and ridiculously overpriced. The food wasn't horrible but NOT worth the cost. We waited an hour for food delivery from the time that we placed the order, staff did apologize stating that "kitchen was backed up". I ordered Arrachera and the steak was chewy and very bland with one spoon of pico, one spoon of guacamole, and a very small bed of rice. Wife had an asada taco and meat was so chewy she abandoned the dish. Son had an asada burrito and was underwhelmed by the overall flavor and dining experience. We ate here on a busy weekend and had Franco be our server. He can really handle a crowd he is a great server I recommend requesting him. Typically speed of service is not important to us when we go out to eat as we like to take our time, enjoy drinks and appetizers and maybe get an entrée. We are adventurous eaters and like to try different things every once in a while so occasionally we will get different entrées to split. I can't recommend enough to try the rayas y huitlacoche taco, as huitlacoche is a delicacy in Mexico, I was really happy to try it, and it did not disappoint. I also want to recommend the tres leches dessert, even though it's difficult, I urge you to save room for this slice of decadent cake, it's well-made and delicious with the caramel popcorn on top. read more

Love the food and service has been great. We've been there 4-5 times now before we hit th movie theater and have had a great experience every time. Major props for their menu--way more than the typical burritos, enchiladas, and tacos. Last night I had the Carnitas Cazo and my wife had the Birria De Penca and both were excellent--tons of flavor and very different than normal Mexican fare. Tried this new restaurant out tonight, it is in the spot formally occupied by Bar Louis across from Cinemark Bistro. The layout is similar to before with mostly cosmetic changes to turn it into a modern Mexican bistro theme. It has a diverse and unique menu; don't expect the normal pile of food covered by lettuce, cheese and salsa that is too typical. We got the table side made Yucatan guacamole as a starter; who knew tangerines could be such a good addition? The three different main courses we got were also unique and well prepared. Service was great, food came out quickly and prices seem reasonable. My only complaint is that I am not a fan of their house margarita, but I am not sure why. We will be back! read more

We were there last evening- Friday. We had a 6:00 reservation and the place was jumping. Service is decent- waited longer than I would have liked to come around to order dessert and get the check- but not terrible. Ordered the Queso Fundido with chorizo, and the Pulpo a las brazas- all excellent. They don't give you tortilla chips with your drinks as in most Mexican restaurants. My real only gripe is with my drink - to me on the high side - $15 for a cocktail called the Mami. 2/3 of the glass was ice- so more ice than drink. For a brand new restaurant that hasn't officially opened yet- glad to see they are doing well. read more

Truly THE worst meal we have ever had. I had the shrimp tequila and the breading was overwhelming. I tried to scrape it off (crisp on the outside but raw and gooey on the inside) leaving a small tasteless piece of shrimp on the inside. I finally gave up. Three of us had to send our margaritas back because they were watery and tasteless. One of us ordered an Old Fashioned and reported that it was one of the worst he had ever had. I felt like going to the table that had just arrived and saying "FLEE now while you still can!" We will never, ever go to Agave Underground again. read more

Monday night 6:00 pm. Arrived and sat down at bar. After about 10 min I flagged down who I thought might be the bartender sitting at the other side of the bar. He came over and greeted me with " it's just me tonight, I don't even have a bartender, I'm the only employee tonight." I said why is that? He said oh just management problems. The only management problem was there wasn't one there. I proceeded to order a martini, that's it, he brought something I'd never imagined a martini would taste like. I wanted to tell him but couldn't get his attention. Finally I went over to the other side of the bar and asked what he made it with. He pointed the the kettle one citrone bottle and said he added a squeeze of lime too. Does that even remotely resemble a martini up. Yikes, I had ordered a burrito but jus cancelled my order and left. Super disappointed with the whole experience. The only reason I went there was because all the other restaurants around crossroads was packed (on a Monday). I don't think this location will ever generate a dime in profit. We had heard this was open and thought we should check it out. So after a movie on Saturday we walked over. There was no hostess, we waited for a few minutes and thought maybe we seat ourselves. Right as I picked up a couple menus, someone came and muttered something about the other door. He sat us and we started reading the menu. We decided on drinks, then an appetizer - and read all of the other offerings and decided to share fajitas. Still no one had come to give us water even. After a few minutes, my husband asked an employee if there was a server assigned to our table - he said he was sure there was and he left. After a few more minutes, we gave up. On our way out, no less than 4 employees wished us a nice day and invited us to come again. Seriously? No one noticed us sitting there - but everyone could say good bye. Anyway - that was a waste of time e. We left and drove to Blue Agave - where we know we will get excellent drinks and food. read more
