I had to travel all the way to Ft Collins to have the best guacamole I've ever tasted in the States (c'mon San Diego, step up your game!). This spot is a gem, blending regional Mexican flavors with visually pleasing decoration and good service. I enjoyed everything that I tried here! The meal begins with a complimentary cup of consomme de fideo--this little touch brings back memories of some of my fave DF joints and is an authentic hospitality gesture shared by very few Stateside Mexican spots. The Yucatan style guac was served tableside, and you can specify texture (chunky, obvio) as well as which ingredients you want included (todos, también obvio). The addition of pomegranate seeds put this already extremely flavorful concoction into guac all star territory. We got the tacos + margaritas flight special, so got to sample three different margarita flavors (all nicely decorated, my fave was the Jamaica-infused La Frida) as well as three different tacos (al pastor, properly served with charred pineapple unlike at most SD spots, tempura shrimp and macho). All three tacos had enormous quantities of filling--My fave was the Macho which contained huge plantain chunks smothered in mole negro and topped with pickled onion. Only tiny note was that the blended margaritas could have been icier, but it was a warm day so they likely melted faster than normal. Horrible service, waited over 30 min for drink order. Very few people in the restaurant so no excuse for lazy customer service. The owner sat on his butt at the bar and did nothing to help the 2 staff members trying to service the patrons. This place is great! It was our first time here and it will be a place we will frequent. It's a fun atmosphere with cool decor. They serve a small cup of homemade warm soup as you sit down. It is soooo good! The menu is large with many choices for different tastes. There are tacos, seafood dishes, burritos , array of appetizers and a bar that will serve anything you might want. The margaritas are delicious!! They have margarita flights to have the chance to taste all flavors. They also have salsa flights with chips. We ordered a couple shrimp dishes , the jalapeño poppers and several margaritas. The food was delicious. Full of flavor and served hot. The service was also great. Our server did not speak any English (could not answer any questions about the menu or food items, could only say "ok" and "thank you"), and the level of cleanliness in the restaurant was appalling. I actually didn't feel safe eating there. On top of that, I have an allergy, and didn't think the server could understand or care for the allergy, and did not trust any surface of the kitchen to be kept organized or clean considering we were seated next to the bar which was piled with employee belonging, open Amazon boxes, sweaters, etc. The menu was worn and faded and sticky. I didn't even feel comfortable drinking the water. I would've left right away but my friend had ordered a beer (came with a lid thank goodness) so I had to wait for them to finish before we could leave. The owner stepped in to vaguely answer a question (I asked if they had any hard cider, which my server said "chicken?") and was dressed so casual I asked if he even worked there. We were the only ones in the restaurant at noon on a Sunday. We were seated right next to a bussing station and two people folding napkins around silverware. They were about 3 feet away. It seemed like our seats were more about their convenience than our comfort as they were stacking plates behind us and it was loud. We found a ring on the floor and tried to give it to our server. She said it wasn't hers, but we again commented it was on the floor by our table and it wasn't ours. When the food arrived about 3 minutes after ordering it, it looked beautiful, but it was not flavorful and the beans were cold. The last time we ordered the same thing and it was so good, we talked about it for weeks. This time didn't come close. Came here for the happy hour and was very pleased. Water in a decanter arrived immediately, followed by a delicious complimentary Mexican spaghetti soup, a big surprise! Started with the nachos, a light white cheese really set the plate off. Happy hour tacos were great, barbacoa beef was flavorful, but the birria taco was the best! No chips and salsa are offered but you can order them. We both had grilled burritos. One chicken and one barbacoa. Both had good flavor. Green chili was good but oddly watery. Other than lettuce, Pico and a spoonful of guacamole nothing else came with the burrito. Food came timely. However our server NEVER returned to check back on us. Didn't stop back to refill drinks and or ask us if we needed anything. Wanted salt and pepper (none on table) and some sour cream. Server was not busy. It was 4:00 pm and only 2 other tables. She was busy wrapping silverware and chit chatting with th e bartender who was sitting at the bar watching TV. The seat we sat at was cracked, had holes in it with some holes repaired with duct tape. First time here with my wife, and it was great. We will absolutely be back. We order 2 beers, salsa flight, and 2 tacos each. Both of us really enjoyed the elevated style of Mexican food and it certainly adds a much needed Mexican flavor profile to Fort Collins. The biggest issue we have seen is they are still not eyes up in the front of house and there were a couple of times where we had to wait for a considerable amount of time at the bar for someone to help us when it was not busy. This was our second time here-our first was pretty good overall first impression. Our second time, we were sat next to a group of six people, even though they were multiple empty tables around. This group was drinking and cursing incessantly, and we had a child at the table with us. Our waiter took approximately 25 minutes to get to us initially. Our order took another 60 minutes. We ordered tacos and enchiladas, the tacos are probably some of the worst I've ever had any restaurant. We also ordered tableside guacamole, it came out already prepared. We had not stated that we had wanted it to be less on certain things. Since the first time we came, they made it tableside. We asked why it was premade and he said he was trying to save time. We had to send it back and have it made again since there was way too much onion and jalapeños in it. I would suggest that if it's not going to made table side as stated on the menu, to have the menu not say that. We had a short wait to be seated and took a short while to also get our orders taken. Water carafe at our table. It's so nice to have real glasses and have water that does not taste like bleach. Booths are back to back with no real barrier inbetween so makes for a lot of interesting listening from loud talkers. Music is loud so everyone is trying to talk above it. The food was great and the dishes we had were not too spicy. Drinks were on the high end price range. We will definitely be back for their daily happy hour from 2-5 pm. We had the traditional chile rellenos with a sauce having a good balance between sweet and tomato flavor. Grilled carne asada burrito was delicious! Topped with sour cream, a dash of the tastiest guacamole and shredded lettuce. Smothered with the most flavorful sauce to match the equally yummy filling. Slightly on the salty side for me though. Menu options are a departure from standard cheesy offerings here in Colorado. Some on the higher price point. No free chips and salsa, although you get a small serving of type of tomato based vegetable soup. (Nice touch and flavorful too). All in all an enjoyable experience. - THIS IS A WONDEFUL ADDITION TOO THE FOCO MALL - I was shopping with my mother when we heard of this new place in town. We met up with a friend and thought it would be nice to try out. It's a slower time/day with everyone getting ready for thanksgiving, however the staff was super kind, understood their menu items thoroughly, and were efficient when delivering our food too the table. I ordered the Agave DLX Burrito with carnitas inside, and the table shared the queso, octopus tacos, and chips and salsa. All of the menu items I just listed, were perfect (mind you, I have a culinary arts degree and so did the fellow whom joined us). The chili that came with the burrito was so good, I might just have to order a jar too take home. The queso was thick and creamy, everything else had a beautiful zest and authenticity in flavor. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in Fort Collins, very excited too watch this place grow. As others have stated, the service is slow. It took over 10 minutes just to be greeted by our server to take our drink orders. It sorta went down hill from there. First, the good. The queso came bubbling hot and was very tasty. It's served in a hot molcajete so it's hot through the period. Next, everything else. Aside from the drinks taking 20 minutes from being sat, and the food taking almost 45. Most of the food was either very salty, incorrectly prepared, or missing items. The table side guac, I didn't see them put lime in it - but the lime was so overpowering the guac wasn't edible. The expensive steak dinner was overcooked, overly salty, and came without the included tortillas. The tacos were incorrect and had to be swapped. The sprite had no syrup anymore so we had to stick with water. The 18$ margarita, was served in a small rocks glass. I've seen some great reviews and really wanted this to work out but it was a slow evening, so they weren't busy and we couldn't get prompt service. Everything after that was an additional 45 mins too late. The manager took half the items off our bill either because we never received it or it came too late. Seriously, don't eat here... people were coming in and leaving without even having been recognized by a staff member. No drinks, no food or anything. If you're looking for an unforgettable Mexican dining experience, this is the place! After trying nearly every spot in the NoCO area, we finally found a winner. The restaurant serves up a unique Mexican Fusion that's both innovative and authentic. When our food arrived, it looked so beautifully presented that we almost didn't want to eat it--but we're glad we did! I had the grilled burrito, and it was everything I hoped for: big, bursting with flavor, yet somehow light and not overly filling. My wife ordered the Agave Cantina Nachos, and I was blown away. I had no idea nachos could taste that good--I was full, but I just couldn't stop eating them! The atmosphere is a fun mix of modern design with some traditional Mexican touches that make it feel warm and inviting. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, which made the whole meal that much more enjoyable. To top it off, we met the owner and chef, Fausto. He was incredibly welcoming, humble, and clearly passionate about what he does.
