Tried out this place for lunch. I ordered the parilla with shrimp and chicken and the #22 fajita plate. Both items were really good. We tried the margarita and a pina colada. The we're both good but the pina colada was great. The house salsa is good but the chips were just ok. The service was really good. We will be back to sample some more menu items. read more

16 Jan 2023 A solid place for breakfast. Prices are reasonable. We had the migas and chilaquiles plates. Each plate is $6.79 and comes with refied beans, potatoes and fresh tortillas. Choice of white or cheddar cheese. Two salsa are provided, green and a cooked red. The plates are plentiful. The flour tortillas are fresh and fluffy. The bummer is that the beans taste canned. Mine were dry and crusty around the edges. The place is pretty and is populated with tables and booths. Bigger on the inside that it looks from the outside. You pay at the register. Restrooms (the ladies anyway), are large and clean. Service was just fine. Not much English spoken. Bit I'm half Mexican so no le hace. Ha, ha. read more

The food came out really fast almost too fast. All preheated so a fast serve. The tortillas are not homemade. The nopales were good with great flavor. The rice is made with carrots and peas tasted good. The give a generous amount of guacamole on the plate with fresh lettuce and tomato. Food is consistent and authentic, delicious and generous portions. Tortillas are homemade. Service is friendly and attentive, drive through is quick. Ambiance is pleasant :) I especially like their green white and red neon restroom sign and the painted murals of rural Mexico and the various decor. Agave gets at 2.5 for decor and atmosphere. Service was a bit lacking; not terrible but I wouldn't describe any of the three servers that brought us chips & dips, drinks, and food respectively as being "attentive." I ordered the Plato Mexicano (#5) which comes with three (unspecified, so expect cheese) enchiladas, rice, refried beans, and 1 crispy beef taco. The short version is this: There are only two things of the above that I SUSPECT were fresh: the taco shell and the rice. Read on for details... Firstly, a plate that is too hot too touch is a great indicator that your about to eat a microwaved meal and so with that being said: the enchiladas were covered in sauce and cheese, as one may expect, but underneath all that sauce and cheese were bland and reheated enchiladas. When you don't reheat a corn tortilla properly, it becomes grainy and a little hard; these were exactly that. The crispy taco was tolerable although the ground beef was very overcooked, just completely dried out. I decided to move on to my side dishes and was met with further microwaved disappointment. When you overcook or reheat beans, or even let cool after cooking, they dry out and develop a thin hard layer on top. Freshly made beans are easily salvageable which only further proves that these were OLD & REHEATED. I'd still have been willing to turn a blind eye (tongue?) to this but as I dug deep into the beans to hopefully find something edible I was met with burnt black refried beans staring back at me. Having already put the fork-full in my mouth, I was afforded the additional sensation of tasting the disgusting thing. The beans were carbonized, charcoal-y: BURNT. I tasted the rice just to complete my disappointing lap around the plate. To turn a phrase from RoboCop with all the dryness of my enchiladas: "I'd buy that for a dollar." The cherry on top was that when we went to pay and conveyed that our meal was disappointing, we were compensated with a DISCOUNT. (triggered now) A f@#$ing discount? Are you kidding me?! For inedible beans, boring enchiladas, and an overcooked taco? If I hadn't of been starving I wouldn't have even eaten the damn taco (I only ate 1 enchilada and the taco, for those of you keeping score.) The God#$^ nerve to even offer a discount with all the sincerity of a snake oil salesman. Everyone is entitled to second chances but your money is better spent at TAQUERIA LA TAPATIA. read more

Agave is in a building sitting directly across the street from the USPS here on Broadway. It's close to where I'm currently living so I come here a lot. Probably more often than I should. I know that after maybe the second visit all of the servers were saying stuff like "welcome back", "good to see you again" so that was nice. Every time I come back here the service is friendly and top notch. If you've read my other review about a local restaurant that is very close to this one you'll know that I prefer the food there. I gave them 5 stars. And the food here at Agave is, I'd say, a solid 3.5 stars but it's the service that gives them that extra little "umph" good good, consistent food and great service can't be beat. Poor service & can't understand a simple order. we asked for a bean and cheese only chalupa and they added sour cream and guac. On our chicken fajita taco, we said no onions and they added that as well. Then we called to let them know and they tried to make it seem like we didn't say only beans and cheese. I'm amazed that Agave has managed to hold on to such a high rating for such a long time. I've tried to give them several chances, since I usually agree with the standing Yelp star rating and trust my fellow Elite's palettes, but I just can't get in line! I've never had anything spectacular here, not even the rice and beans other reviewers have mentioned. I didn't mind the Tripas plate at lunch, but it was burnt, very greasy and gave me a headache for the rest of the day. Breakfast tacos are no good either. There are just too many good Mexican food places in the area to settle for one that isn't impressive! My Yelp rating system: 5 stars= Add this to your bucket list! 4 stars= I would recommend visiting. 3 stars= Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars= You might be able to drag me in. 1 star= I will definitely not be returning. read more

Horrible place! Music is so loud as if we are in a bar. The waitress is yelling to ask us what we want to talk over the music. They toss our plates on the table toss the drinks almost falling over. Got 3 orders wrong probably because they can't hear from the music! We tel them what the order was AGAIN! And then one of those 3 is wrong AGAIN! And they roll their eyes when we told them it was wrong?!?!? Like it's our fault! Maybe If the music was not so loud they would hear the orders!!!!
