I was able to get a same day appointment and Allison at AG was exceptional. I would recommend her to everyone in the Portland area. I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage today with Jennifer and it was definitely an above average massage. I've technically had better massages, but on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being utterly amazing I'd give the massage a 7.5 or 8. I would have preferred longer, slower movements and the massage as a whole felt more like a routine than anything intuitive, but she still got my knots out and I almost fell asleep a few times so it was definitely good :) read more

I'm seeing Ben for an MVA for a few months now and I've seen a big improvement. I'm also seeing a chiropractor that does soft tissue manipulation, an acupuncturist, and a physical therapist but Ben does techniques none of the others will touch. I used to be massage therapist and I've had at least a hundred massages and he's a standout for therapeutic massage. I had a great massage from Alison yesterday, and to be honest I'm a little sad about it because I don't live in Portland and I've been looking for a place like this back home. AG Massage is on the third floor of an unassuming office building, and it feels more like a friend's apartment than a place of business (in a good way). Eclectic mix of furniture, no hokey water features, really pleasant, comfortable ambiance. As for the massage itself, Alison did a nice job of focusing on the areas I needed more help with but also hit a couple spots I didn't realize were problematic or possible to address (looking at you right hip that's been slightly twingy ever since I was pregnant). Great pressure, and today I feel awesome in that slightly sore in spots way. Really wish I could become a regular. read more

My wife and I wanted to have a couples massage while we were on vacation in Portland. I decided on AG Massage because of the 5-star reviews. My wife and I had never had a massage before. They explained the process very well and answered all of my questions before I even had to ask them. The whole experience was very comfortable and relaxing. I am happy that I had the massage on the last day of my trip because I had done so much walking that my feet were starting to cramp up in the previous days. I am happy to say that I haven't had trouble with my feet all day after the massage, and the stiffness in my neck and shoulders was gone after a 60-minute session. Their business is located in a suite on the third floor. It is easy to miss because there are no signs since the building is shared. It was easy for me to find because I booked the appointment over the phone and they explained how to find them. I would recommend calling and asking how to get there if you haven't been there before. Also, make sure to book an appointment far enough ahead of time. I was able to book an appointment at the earliest 1 week ahead of time due to availability for a couples massage. The only recommendation I have for the business is to provide a way to book a couples massage through the website (I didn't see any way to do this). It wasn't a big deal to me though because booking over the phone was also a simple process. It just may be easier for the business since it may cut down on calls. read more

I decided to make an appointment with Alison after my body was aching from exploring downtown for hours on end. I was not disappointed in the slightest. I booked a 90 minute massage with Alison and she was wonderful! I tend to hold all of my stress in my shoulders/neck/back and Alison was able to untangle my stress knotted back. Can I mention first what an incredible experience AG Massage continues to be. I have seen both Alissa and Jennifer. They individually have amazing strengths in their craft and are sincerely attentive to your needs. Alissa put a lots of focus on isolating tensions and softening areas that need a good stretch. Unassuming location in the historic Minnesota Hotel Building. Small but intimate, relaxing and tranquil except for the creaking noise of the historic building. My therapist Innona was attentative and adjusted her applied pressure according to my needs. Heated blanket aided in the relaxation. OK price for an hour long deep tissue massage ($75 plus tip) near the Pearl. Only drawback may be that my therapist used lotion instead of oil and it created some painful moments when there was too much friction between her skin and mine. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Allison's for four years. The only reason I ever go to anyone else is if I am out of town, a friend is treating me, or I feel like having a Thai massage with Aaron, also at AG Massage, also fantastic. For a traditional massage I have not found anyone else who comes close to Allison's ability. She is prompt, professional, and has a keen intuition regarding pressure. When I leave not only do I feel more relaxed, I feel like I am floating. The office is cozy: two rooms + waiting area in the Minnesota Hotel Building in Old Town. Despite the historic setting it always smell great--like cedar and fresh air. Another reviewer described it as down to earth and that's exactly right. It's no-frills for people who want massage. If you want a spa-like experience with bathrobes and steam rooms this is probably not your style. They have an online booking which works well. It's not the most expensive massage in PDX nor the least--but it's worth every cent. read more

Rebecca is Amazing! I've been seeing Rebecca once a month for a year and a half. She is hands down the best massage therapist I've ever had. I used to have a massage once or twice a year when the girlfriends would do a "spa day". It was always nice, but not quite worth the price to do it all the time. That all changed with Rebecca. She senses where I'm tight and knows how to administer just the right pressure to fix me up. She is professional, knowledgeable and an absolute sweetheart to work with.
