Dr. Jung took a personalized and very hands on approach. I was shown X-rays, we discussed options and next steps at length. He monitored my progress and provided aftercare like no other care provider has ever done. Parking is a breeze and the location in central Concord is easy to get to. The condition of the premises is nothing short of, immaculate. The staff deserves a big hand. Everyone I came in contact with from the gorgeous, knowledgeable receptionist/office manager who worked with me to ascertain that my insurance would be accepted, and my wait was minimal... Through the courteous and efficient dental hygienists/assistant who took my X-ray with out causing additional pain and ensured that I was as comfortable as possible throughout the entire procedure. I have suffered greatly, through subpar dental treatment in the past. That is why these services are especially noteworthy. When I needed it most, how fortunate I was to find Dr. Jung. Twenty-one years of experience, professionalism and compassion. I would be remiss if I gave this entire practice less than five stars!

Years of Avoidable Harm--Tooth Loss, Jaw Injury, and Dismissive Care…read more This office's pattern of poor communication and high-pressure tactics has lessened the quality of my life as well as cost me thousands of dollars for visits and night guards. In late October/early November 2019, I had an apicoectomy on tooth #9 with John D. Wells, DDS at 16600 Birkdale Commons Parkway, Huntersville, NC 28078. I followed all aftercare to the letter, rinsing faithfully with the prescribed cleanser. After the first procedure, I started feeling pain and discomfort in the tooth area after drinking cool water, so I contacted the office right away. Dr. Wells had me come back for him to take a look. He then determined he needed to redo the apicoectomy. Afterward, I asked what the problem was, and he explained that the dissolvable sutures from the initial surgery hadn't dissolved, so he removed them manually. He assured me healing was on track, but by early 2020, persistent infection forced me to need an extraction and an implant, which was both costly and heartbreaking, especially at my age for a front tooth. I was 80 years old going through all of this. I was never told about the threat of infection, and only learned later that undissolved sutures can trap bacteria and lead to failures like this; and that dentists should proactively remove them themselves to avoid such risks. Had I known, I might have pushed for that upfront or chosen differently--but trusting the process, I returned to the same practice in 2022 for a root canal on tooth #8. That's when things worsened dramatically. During packing placement, the assistant demanded I open my mouth much wider to keep it dry, using scare tactics: she warned that if I didn't, "it would have to be redone." Again, I am an older patient, and it was very clear this assistant dd not care about me as a patient, and had no interest in a reasonable bedside manner. Fresh off the 2019 trauma, I felt pressured and complied to open as wide as possible, despite visible distress in my eyes, as she took her time. The strain immediately triggered pain and discomfort, and I was soon diagnosed with a displaced TMJ disc--causing relentless muscle spasms, a sensation like my jaw is off its hinge, difficulty speaking, and chronic agony requiring therapy and meds. After contacting Dr. Wells numerous times with my distress and concerns, he dismissed them outright, claiming the assistant "didn't force my mouth open or threaten me with a gun." No empathy, no accountability--just deflection. As I said before, this office's pattern of poor communication (e.g., not warning about dissolvable suture risks) and high-pressure tactics has lessened the quality of my life as well as cost me thousands of dollars for visits and night guards. The initial staff seemed friendly, but the care felt reactive at best. If you're reading this, ask upfront about materials and removal plans, get consents in writing, and trust your instincts--if something feels off, walk away. I wish I'd switched endodontists sooner; now I see one who actually listens. Proceed with extreme caution here.

I just had my second root canal here in five years. It was no big deal…read more People think root canals are a big deal, but that's due to old technology. Other than the needle being stuck into my gums at the beginning to numb the pain, this was 100% painless. Same as five years ago. I also learned that flossing is 10x more important than brushing your teeth. Brushing only gets the surfaces and gums. Flossing gets rid of the plaque that leads to bacteria and infection. Excess plaque has also been linked to Alzheimer's and heart disease. Great info, friendliness, and overall customer service here. Or you can call it bedside manner. Whatever you want to call it, Dr. Wells and his staff are highly recommended if you're seeking an endodontist.

The entire procedure only took about 30 minutes, and it was both relatively easy and painless. I left with instructions to take Advil for a few days to help with the inflammation. I'm pleased to have had such a great experience, and will definitely return to Dr. Callison if I need another root canal.

I get up from the chair and call the same number on my insurance card and poof- yes indeed insurance is active. A 3 minute phone call! "We'll have to reschedule for next week so the Dr. doesn't have to rush" i am told. So another week of pain and discomfort because you didn't make a phone call ahead of time. Hmmmm. Why did you not prep the insurance work BEFORE I came in? BEFORE I gave up my morning of work!? BEFORE I was reclined in your chair with a bib on? You had a week to make that phone call and discuss with me any discrepancies. Shame on you. That is very unprofessional and disrespectful. Going home with pain and nothing resolved... and I'm sure I will be billed for that useless xray. Scheduled appointment with someone else. They verified my insurance before I made it home. Steer clear of a place that struggles with paperwork or phone calls!

Honest Review of My Visits: I visited Smile Solutions for…read morethe first time on Monday, November 10, 2025, after scheduling an emergency appointment to repair a chipped tooth. I'll be the first to admit: going to the dentist is not exactly my favorite hobby, however life (and teeth) happens. I arrived with one goal in mind: fix the tooth. Nothing more, nothing less. Front Desk & First Impressions: The front desk receptionist was warm, friendly, and charming. The lobby was cute with light music playing which is a nice touch for someone whose nerves were already plotting an escape. The wait time was short, and I was called back quickly. The restroom was clean! Dental Assistant & Dentist: The dental assistant was very kind and personable, though I wasn't my usual chatty self since it was early and I was on a tight schedule. After X-rays, the dentist came in, introduced herself, and asked thorough preliminary questions. I especially appreciated her sensitivity in making sure my chipped tooth wasn't the result of any unsafe circumstance. Before I knew it, she reclined the chair and began working. My heart was racing, my palms were sweaty, and I was moments away from calling for a timeout-but suddenly, she was done. Quick, efficient, and practically magical. Things I Didn't Love: I wasn't a fan of the music playing during the appointment. I also didn't enjoy being approached mid-appointment by a receptionist requesting payment before treatment. While I understand the business perspective, having completed all paperwork online, checked in, and provided my insurance card, l assumed payment at the end would have been sufficient. Quality of Work: Despite the minor hiccups, I was very pleased with the actual dental work. My tooth looked great. Second Visit - Even Better I returned for a second visit on Thursday and received the same warm greeting and short wait time. This time, jazz was playing this is an immediate improvement and I have zero complaints. I met the dental hygienist, Amika, who was incredibly gentle and completed a thorough assessment of my mouth, including bitewing X-rays. I also really appreciated the diversity within the staff, which made me feel even more comfortable and welcomed. I met with Dr. Smalls again to create a dental plan that genuinely feels customized and solution focused- truly living up to the name Smile Solutions!

Still in pain, went back and treated for a high bite. Still in pain 2 weeks after, find out I need a root canal, on the same tooth after 10 xrays were taken. The practice utilized all of my insurance allowance. I was told Dr Miller, the owner that drilling thru the new cap was "more complex" than his abilites so i was referred to an outside surgeon. Yes, i was asked to cough up another 1.8K as they dont take insurance. Still in pain with no insurance and either pay 1.8K or have the new crown pulled. Great position they left me with. AVOID THIS PRACTICE if you want good dental healthcare.
