The inside has side entrances that open to the outside area. Three major gripes... The place is wheelchair accessible as far as getting on the "porch." There is a ramp for it. But when asked whether there was a ramp to actually get inside to order a drink, we were told there is none. Disappointingly enough, none of the employees came near the entrance to make ordering easier. We had masks on, they did not, so it did not make sense why none of them came closer. The bar had no other patrons. Next, I am admittedly more apprehensive about sanitation, or a lack thereof, now. I was a bit taken aback that the whole process of making drinks and taking our order was done without gloves. I would not have cared had the bartender simply made drinks but squeezing the lemon and dropping it in the drink with her bare hands rattled my spirit. I don't know--maybe I'm being too anal. I just think proper hand washing or sanitation is more important than ever during COVID. Third, my friend was sure his Crown Apple was mixed with something else. We drink it enough to know. LOL. On this point, I will not say with 100% certainty it was diluted or mixed, but he was certain it was. Overall, I do not think this bar is terrible. It's a typical Metairie bar that sits in the middle of the suburbs. I also do not think it's unwise to stop in for a drink or to hang out. These are just my complaints.

This is a perfect example of a Metry dive bar…read more A friend invited me to this bar one night for a drink. Little did I know I was in for some serious culture shock. As my GPS directed me to this residential area, I was concerned that I may be in the wrong place. I saw the sign and knew I wasn't, so I headed for the door, or what I thought was the door. I am used to businesses having an entrance in the front center. This entrance was on the side, as if I were entering a house. My drinking buddy was already at the bar, so I pulled up a stool and ordered an Abita. The beer was cold and only $3.25. The bartender was very friendly. i attributed this to the fact that she told me she had been drinking since two. Normally I frown upon drinking and working, but it worked for her. This bar has karaoke, but didn't have any Lil Wayne, B.G. or Juvenile. Because the Nola rap selection was lacking, i was unable to impress the crowd with my amazing rap skills. They did have P-Control by Prince, but even after listening to his version, I wasn't drunk enough to attempt it. Oh well, there is always next time. This bar had some awesome things going for it. Here are some examples: Behind the bar was a woman with a flat iron straightening her hair. An older gentleman with an amazing mullet. The bartender making it rain with napkins, then bending at the waist to pick them up all while shaking her moneymaker. A very cool conversation with a singer about the origins of the Edmund Fitzgerald melody. I want to rate this bar higher because of the awesome things going on, but I just cant. While I enjoyed it, this isn't the area I would normally go out.

They have a pretty good wine and beer selection, but they shine on their signature cocktails, of which there are so many that I could not reasonably list here, some of which rotate out regularly to keep variety up. Everything, and I mean *everything*, is reasonably priced, if not outright cheap. (5 stars) Service: Usually just a single bartender, except during shift changes, but the place is small enough, that is more than enough. All the 'tenders are friendly and efficient. (5 stars) Facilities: Martine's is located in a strip mall along Metairie Road. It's easily accessible from the Bonnebel exit off I-10. Signage is ample, but you have to be familiar with the turns along the street to be prepared to find it. There is some parking out front, and, as one goes to bars mainly at night, there isn't any competition for space then. There is a pool table, video poker, and what looks to be a non-functioning/unplugged pinball machine (never asked about it). The inside is smallish, and can probably hold about 50 people seated, including tables and bar stools. There is also outside seating available. It's clean, but, for whatever reason, the cigarette smoke lingers in the place. The management is aware and tries to work with customers on this angle. The decor is appropriate, with a saloon feel to it. (4 stars) Bonus 1: free pizza weeknights Bonus 2: free wings on Wednesday with Trivia Overall: The only things I dislike about this place are that it isn't walking distance from my place and the heavy cigarette smoke that makes my eyes burn. Check it out, especially if you like trivia (4 stars)

This building might be considered by some a shack, and it certainly is a bar. However, it also serves up some amazing food. It's historic inside as well as outside, having classic signs, posters, and other New Orleans memorabilia displayed on virtually every surface, including the ceilings. Also noteworthy are their barstools, which have amusing legs attached. The interior is rather dark, even in the middle of the day, but don't let this deter you. Your eyes will quickly adjust. This might be an advantage if your visit is to engage in day-drinking! However, if your visit is to eat, first look for the board displaying the Daily Special. These are a great choice and may include things not normally on the menu. Variety is the spice of life and all... However, the menu is adequate for most any purpose. There are a great variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, plates, and appetizers! I like that the sandwiches can be customized with sides. One can swap out regular fries for sweet potato fries, or there are really great and crispy tater tots! One can even opt for a bowl of gumbo or soup! Some of these changes involve a slight up-charge, but are worth it. Speaking of the soups and gumbos, these are really great choices. I happened to be there when French Onion Soup was part of the daily special, and it was amazing! Had a great big toasty chuck of bread with cheese on top, and the soup was rich and delicious. Their gumbo is a substantial choice, with great and deep flavors. I also recommend their BLT, which pairs well with a bowl of soup. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful and the prices are fair. This place is an experience that one should have while in the area. It's definitely a place you'll want to return to!

The po-boy I had was piled high. I took half of it home. The fries were good and the price was reasonable. I'm sorry I waited so long. The list of draft beer is extensive, and the prices are good. (PBR on tap! Hard to find...). If you pay with cash you get a little discount from the card prices. The servers were friendly and cheerful. They knew a lot of the customers by name. The atmosphere was nice, like just a bunch of folks hanging out and having a good time. They have live music on some nights, so it might be crazier then, but I felt right at home. Much appreciated. Definitely means I will go back. Highly recommended!
