Guide greets you when you walk in and is close by throughout your experience. You learn about the history , there are plenty of touch free experiences which are cool. I liked learning about the foods and how to prepare them at this counter. Going up the elevator was cool bc there is a short video on your way up. The view was amazing from the inside and that's where you take a pic The highest level is when you go outside , it's very windy so you couldn't really enjoy it for long. There is a small deli to get snacks or your drink. On your way out, you look at the pic that you take which is worth it. You get three pics for $30 in front of nice backgrounds. Comes w the digitals which you could have enlarged or share . Definitely worth it. I've been coming to Mew Orleans for years but there's nothing wrong with having professional pics. The photographer is very nice as well. Great staff and experience.

The bar has a bartender, not mixologist, who makes drinks that I can make better at home. The little drinks are served un-garnished in tiny plastic cups and cost $15+. Not to mention they will take whatever tip amount they like out if you forget to close your tab. So my basic plastic cup of lemon, sugar, and a splash of vodka (I can't even call it a lemon drop) was $20. I wish I had taken a photo of how tiny the cups are.

What a shame to have lost the heart and soul of the restaurant. Yet, the staff does their best to create a warm and welcoming environment, while the chefs provide truly top notch cuisine. A friendly, comfortable, neighborhood place with cool cocktails, vintage pinball, a jukebox, pool table, and really good Italian-style, thin-crust pizzas (when available). I'm all for following rules but the rules put in place seem to be aimed towards the way black people dress and instead white people were dressed this way and still allowed in. I looked around a little more and found two lone reviews. The first one talked about how good one of the bartenders made burgers. The other one is the one that got me in the door. It said something like "cheap drinks, weird people....open late (never closes)". Its the weird people that did it for me. I, apparently am one of them. My first time there, I didn't even make it in the door before, someone said "I've never seen you before....what's your name?" or some such similar attention grabbing statement. I had to excuse myself just to get a drink. As was mentioned before, I'm not a big drinker, so the two drinks I have will be nicer. I'm not a Bud guy, or Miller, or PBR. I think those taste like crap. So I walked in and got an Abita Purple Haze for $3. All of the bottles are $3. Sam Adams, Newcastle, Red Stripe, the Abita crew, you name it. Everyone there is nice and welcoming. It's like a little vagabondish family. There are regulars, there all the time, and there are frequenters, a couple times a week. It's totally cool, they've got a video jukebox, so the music selection is excellent, compared to a CD jukebox. There are dart boards, but I've never seen people playing. I hear they're going to bring the pool table back inside eventually. So, it is with much reluctance that I put the word out about the Lamplighter bar and lounge. I almost don't want people to go and ruin it's quaint affection. It's like the dive version of Cheers. With weird people. I honestly didn't think I would find that in Metairie. If you're weird (excessively intelligent and creative) and seek the same, but do not want the hassle of driving (the 6 miles) to the French Quarter, stop on by.
