What is it with stairs in Fort Wayne gay bars? Only 2 bars in town, same owner and both have stairs inside. The other bar is just not very accessible for a lot of people. And the music volumn is so high I bet it's way above hearing loss level. Otherwise, it's an ok bar. read more

We came into town to celebrate and decided to get a drink and maybe dance or watch a drag show. We were excited to find a gay bar and go out. We were a little bit early and there wasn't anyone there. We sat down at the bar and proceeded to tell the bartender that we are out of town. He didn't care and was actually kind of rude. I asked him some questions regards to the bar and he answered them rudely and abruptly. I decided that this was not going to be a good experience. We drank our drinks as quickly as we could and we got out of there. We went around the block to another bar and spent over 50 bucks and had a great time. read more

This has got to be the lamest gay bar I have ever been to. Full of straight girls having their parties there. The ratio of gays to straight are about 90% straight/lesbians to 10% gay. A $5.00 cover charge to watch lame overweight drag queens who are rude and not very friendly when trying to talk to them. But have their hands out for that dollar. The music is pathetic, as well as the atmosphere. Make sure you bring cash as this is the only way a payment they accept. Fort Wayne needs another gay bar so they will have some competition. Hands down a great time. Environment: this is a totally great late night hang out. I take my friends here often because I am the only one in the group who is a part of the lgbt community. Is a bar that doesn't have a lot of seating but if you get there early you can get a booth. The first bar area you walk into is where the stage is and then there is a downstairs which holds a bar as well. There is another room for dancing and a patio out back for smoking. Service! Great service. Verry very friendly bartenders who know how to make great tasting. And strong drinks.. The dry Ms are cheaper here than anywhere else and you totally get your money's worth. There are drag shows on Thursday, friday, and Saturday and those are the nights I recommend going Highly recommended. And a must stop on any bar hop - bachelorette party! read more

It was a Saturday night and my group of friends wanted to dance. Yelp lead us in the right direction because of all the positive reviews about the After Dark. The most intriguing thing was the layout of this bar. The first floor is the main bar area with a small stage. That night there was a $5 cover as there was a drag show going on. That was very entertaining as the Drag Queens were all made up singing to their favorite songs and everyone handing them out dollars. The next lower level is the dance floor area. Loud music, fast lights all over the place, and a cage with a pole in the middle. Lots of ladies, like dancing in the cage. There was a door to their outdoor patio where most people went to smoke. There's one more lower level which was a very low-key bar. It felt like a dive bar, but with all gay guys. A local told me that's where the Bears go to play pool and eat popcorn. It's much more chill if you're not in the mood for dancing. No matter what level you were on, it was packed and busy, and most importantly a fun time. We were out past 2:30 and was exhausted from the night of shenanigans. read more

Babylon is only the second 'gay bar' I've ever been to, and I usually enjoy it. I appreciate the multiple levels with 2 bars, a dance area (with cage), a smoking patio, and the bathrooms are conveniently located. Babylon is definitely focused on a dancing atmosphere with a nod towards the 'chill'' atmosphere. Basically if you aren't dancing, you're getting drinks or catching your breath with your friends. The sound system actually is really great too. One thing I could ask that Babs improves on is the music selection. I consider myself somewhat a regular and usually am displeased with the music. For instance the trend that I've noticed on the dance floor is that Fridays is slower rap with a hard beat, and saturdays is faster techno with a lighter beat. On multiple occasions I've asked the DJ on saturday nights to play "Let's have a Kiki" by the scissor sisters, and he always says he will but never does. I think it would be beneficial if the DJ threw in a few more 'popular' dance songs/artists (pop artist kings & queens with maybe some European artists like Robyn) in , just so the dance floor can be more familiar with what's going on. I pretty much always get my drinks made by Scotty at the upstairs bar, and have never been disappointed. I've been there for karaoke on Friday nights before, and The only request I have for that is just more newer songs to draw in a younger audience. Used to go here weekly before After Dark and Babylon became one. Don't like that you're standing 90% of the time due to not a lot of seats. When you are short you miss the shows and the shows were why I went. The drinks are what save the place from getting a lower rating. I went to the club on a Friday night. It was my first time. I met a friend there. We got drinks. I got a Mike's hard cider. There was no wine so Chardonnay was out. We went into the outside atrium. It was decorated sparsely with cheap store bought Halloween items. Well lit. Tall tables and chairs. We were joined by a friend of my friends. We moved into the main bar dance area and found a table near the stage. The drag queen show started. The performers were well dressed but did a marginal job of lipsync to the music chosen. I found the music to be a bit too loud and the words were almost drowned out. The performance went on a bit too long and the DJ in the next section started up the music for the dance floor before the drag queen show was over. Need to close off the dance floor from the stage and shorten the drag queen show. Also would be nice if a better sound system was installed along with better light show syncing to the music. My friend also complained that the club was not heated during the winter and she would not attend at that time. Would suggest more tables and chairs in front of the stage. A better drink menu would be nice as well. read more

I suppose it's ok as it's the only game in town. It is however a handicapped persons nightmare. When I';ve been there the street level doors are locked so you have to go up 2 story stairs on the outside of the building to get in. Then downstairs to the other areas and up and down stairs to the various rooms. Now that After Dark is in here there are no other choices. I don't consider Henry's gay as i've been a couple times and its always full of straight people having over priced dinners. I've been in Ft Wayne 9 months and have yet to meet a gay person i can have a conversation with. I may walk with a cane but come on how about some access?? read more

Not a bad place for a town like fort Wayne. It's as close to Indy or Chicago as you'll get in the area.
