DO NOT BOOK!!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! If you want your braider to take your deposit, and then flip the script on you, then go ahead & book this braider! I had an appointment for 9am, I paid my deposit, and then almost a day before my appointment, she switches it to 5AM!!!??!?!?!! She's Nigerian, so she's not well versed in American culture/customer service; but if you inconvenience a guest the least you could do is apologize and offer a discount. She did none of that. She came into the shop, LATE, mind you, and didn't even speak. VERY RUDE. She got me out of the shop pretty fast, but the style did not last long (the braids were slipping, and she doesn't know how to tuck your natural hair into the braids). About a month went by, and I needed braids again. I booked with a completely different braider, but unfortunately, she had to cancel on me bc she had an out-of-town trip. I was also going out of town; I had no other braiders available to me at such short notice. So unfortunately, I had to book with this braider again. I didn't want to, but my trip was less than a week away, and no other braider was available. I booked a 6am appointment with her, and on her site, it says the whole style takes 5 hours, meaning I would be done around 11am. This was perfect because I needed to be somewhere at 12. I send her a rather large deposit (most braiders are not asking for $150 deposit, no matter the style, but I digress...), and book my appointment. THE DAY BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT, she tells me to come at 8am. I tell her I can't because I have somewhere to be at 12. She claims she needs to take her son to daycare. (That's not my problem!) She doesn't even apologize nor offer me a discount. Now I have to re-arrange my entire day because you're unprofessional and don't know how to run a successful business. I don't know how they do it in Nigeria, but in AMERICA, when someone prepays for a service, it is like a contract. You break the contract when you change the service!! I should be entitled to my deposit back. Then it hits me, this is a game to her. She takes your deposit, and then completely flips the script by changing your appointment time and inconveniencing you. Her site states that deposits are non-refundable, so that is her loophole. She then argues with me via text, claiming that I should have allowed an extra hour for this service. I DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a business owner, if you know that the service could run over the time, you should warn customers on your site when they book with you. But I guess common sense ain't that common.... She then asks me to come at 7:30 (which still won't work for me bc if the style is allegedly 5 hours long, I still won't make it out in time for my next event.). She then claims I will still be out by 11am... and I'm like how???!!! At first you claim I should've set aside 6 hours for this style, NOW you claim you can do it in 3.5 hours??? HUH?!! (She may be autistic, I'm not sure) But, I have a Bachelor's in Accounting, I'm pretty good in math, and this math ain't mathin'!??!!!! Even though I know she's lying, so she won't have to give me back this deposit, I still go to get my hair braided. I have no other choice, because I've already sent her $150, for a deposit. So my appointment comes, and she's LATE, AGAIN! And she comes in the shop with no apology and begins to blast gospel music on her speakers. I don't know if she was trying to set the mood, because she knows I was pissed, and she was in the WRONG for how she was treating me, but it didn't work. That's a thing these so called "Christians" do to "ward off evil spirits" instead of taking accountability for their actions. But that's another story for another day. It took two people to do my hair, and I still didn't get out in time for my next event. She claimed via text, that I would be done by 11am. 11am came, and they were still working on my hair. I didn't leave the shop until 12pm, the time I was SUPPOSED to be at my next event. Due to her poor planning and abhorrent business acumen, I was inconvenienced and was late to my next event, which made me look bad in front of my peers. She had no remorse, no customer service skills, no apology, and even bad mouthed Black American culture, whilst sitting amongst a whole BLACK ASS AMERICAN. If you hate Black Americans so much, why would you willingly take our money?!!??!???? I will never go back to this braider again. She is very unprofessional and rude. Take your money elsewhere, where your time is not wasted, and the service is worth the money. read more

Chi did our braids once and it was very neat but did not like the front. We decided to try her a second time around. Difference was we shared photos of exactly what we wanted and thought she understood. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. She did what she wanted and totally ignored the photos we shared. In addition, she was very rude in her interaction with us. Her partner on the other hand was very nice. I was most upset by how she criticized her partner in front of us. Couldn't you have done that after we left. Do you think we are in Nigeria? This is America newsflash, where we act like respectable human beings NOT LIKE ANIMALS. I wanted to get my hair braided but, I didn't personally know anyone. I searched online and saw pictures posted by Afrik and decided to check her availability. To my surprise, she was available on Sunday. Chi was timely and very personable. I told her what I wanted and for her to make any alterations necessary to make the style look it's best. I also told her to leave out my edges and not braid too tight. My hair is really soft and I've had a bad past experience. Chi listened and said she understood my needs. OMG!!! So in love with my hair! I needed a very last minute appointment and Chi was able to accommodate me for the following day. Since it was my first time getting a protective style, my goal was to find someone who was mindful of tension for my hair texture. Chi was very helpful about recommending which braiding hair to get. Unfortunately the hair shop was out of the preferred brand but Chi was able to recommend another brand even though it made it a bit more work for her. She had excellent covid-19 safety measures in place, including wearing a double mask, offering antibacterial hand wipes upon entering the shop, and sanitizing equipment throughout the process. That all aside.. her work is amazing! She really took creative control about what would look best for the style I requested. Her parts are clean, she took her time with her process to ensure I was happy with each braid (which, to me, shows pride of her craft) and during the service she was aware of tension and offered several reminders to let her know if there was any pain. Very unprofessional. I needed to reschedule my appt due to unforeseen circumstances. And did so within the 72 hour rule. I was then told I needed to pay an additional $65.00 dollars on top of my $50.00 deposit which totaled to me paying out $115.00 prior to services being rendered. There is no where on her site stating that when rescheduling you are required to pay any additional fees. I support my people and pay whatever the fee is but what I am not okay with is when people are making rules as they go along. If it's a rule then state that on your site prior to people booking. I believe her work is neat according to instagram Post and would have loved for her to service me being new to the area.. and I would have come back but I am not in support of this type of business. What I can see is that she was not a good fit for me. If you want someone that cares about your hair care and not just the financial aspect then I would not book with this stylist. By all means get your money but keep it professional. I pray my deposit goes along way for her. And another note. Don't ever speak to your client as if they are entitled to come to you. Totally unprofessional, don't waste your time making an appointment here. I made an appointment for Saturday, December 11, 2021 and I was contacted the next morning via text saying I don't do small knotless braids on Saturday and encourage to look at her Ig page for medium or large knotless styles. After I found one I made an appointment for Friday, December 11, 2021 just to later get a text saying "That appointment is a 7am appointment but what's available for that date is 9:30am, and I need a $50 cash app deposit," I let her know I schedule a 2 pm appointment because I have to work on Friday morning. I then was told "Yes I know hence me clarifying the time choosen is not actually available " This is after I used her system to book the appointment. She let me know she is generally off work by 3 or 4 pm and 1/2 day in Saturday's; bankers hours. These were the worst braids I have ever received from a braider. I was really excited to try something new and find a new stylist in the area. However, the only positive part about this experience was that it only lasted two hours. First, I booked medium box braids specifically because I did not want braid gel in my hair (which is required to obtain the Knotless braids style). In order to do any type of braids, she apparently needs copious amounts of braid gel (even more than I have ever seen needed for my prior Knotless braids styles from other stylists). I am sure she used an entire tub of braid gel to do my hair. Second, she was more concerned with how the parting of each braid looked versus the actual braids themselves. My braids are uneven, different sizes, and are so short they don't even reach my mid-back like I paid for. Not to mention the ends of each braid were horribly finished. Some are braided to the end while others are thick, long and unevenly knotted at the end. For the price I paid (almost $300), I could have received small box braids that end at my lower back. It was a complete waste of time and money, and I will never return to this braider. I advise that if you want to book with this person, you only get small/medium Knotless braids that end at your lower back, as I believe this is the only braiding style she will take the time to do well. read more
