Kaite came to our hotel suite and did our hair right at the hotel where we were getting ready for the day. I knew I'd love working with Kaite from the moment that we met. She is so sweet and talented! She got to know me and learned what I was looking for in my wedding hair and also provided recommendations on what would improve the style. Along with her assistant, she listened deeply to the needs of my bridesmaids who all have different hair types and style wishes. Everyone was so happy with their hair and she make sure to meet their individual preferences while making sure everything was cohesive. The wedding was completely outdoors and she make sure everything was styled well so it would hold in the wind and heat. I was nervous about coming up with an appropriate schedule/timeline for the day. I didn't want us to be too rushed while getting ready but I also didn't want us to have to spend the whole day getting ready. Katie helped me develop a schedule and provided pro-tips to help keep us on track. The schedule went off without a hitch, at just the right pace. I would absolutely work with Kaite again in a heartbeat. Her prices were very reasonable. She is a very talented professional, and also a wonderful person!

Nae Payton and I had an appointment on December 21st via Style Seat. She arrived 15 minutes late,…read moredidn't apologize, and left me with wet hair for 30 minutes to warm up in her car due to illness without informing me. Despite me offering to reschedule multiple times out of compassion, she insisted on finishing my hair at her home for her comfort. The sew-in lasted only 7 days, and she promised a free reinstall. She then ghosted me at the follow-up appointment, offered no communication for multiple days, and is now fighting my bank dispute. I waited for an hour and a half outside of her shop. She claimed she was in a car accident, but was posting on her Style Seat account days after. Her actions were crucially unprofessional. Even if she were in a car accident, I was not communicated with until I started the refund process. Also, someone else should've had the heart to reach out to me. Not even the owner texted me back. While I remained empathetic to Nae Payton's circumstances, she made false promises. The sew-in appointment lasted over five hours, yet the installation unraveled within a week--a style that should typically last months. I would never knowingly pay full price for a subpar salon experience or an incomplete service. Had Ms. Payton not offered a complimentary reinstall, I would have negotiated a discounted rate at the initial appointment for her time. It is clear that her offer was a deceptive tactic to retain the full payment without fulfilling the promised service.I would have been fully willing to pay a partial amount for her time, understanding the difficulties she faced during the appointment. However, her lack of communication left me with no choice but to file a bank dispute. Nae claimed that I purchased the wrong hair, even though I asked her multiple times for weeks leading up to the appointment which hair she recommended, in which, she did not respond to. Therefore, she literally sewed in the hair and that's it, leaving my style fully incomplete. However when I returned home, I styled that hair to perfection. She didn't mention me bringing the wrong hair until the end of my appointment, making me believe that she just did not have the energy to style it. I wish she would've just been honest. As a respected member of my community, I hold a deep appreciation for supporting Black-owned businesses and would never dispute a charge without just cause. However, this has been the worst experience I have ever encountered. I'm glad I have the strength to get through this because a hair appointment should never be this stressful y'all. I reached out to "The Shop" owner questioning Nae's whereabouts at our follow up appointment, with of course, no response. The several no responses led me to believe that Nae Payton ghosted me for her own financial gain. I disputed the charge with my bank, whom was very helpful with this situation. However, Ms. Payton is now fighting the dispute, showing more concern for financial gain than customer care. She manipulated the situation by offering a reinstall she never intended to fulfill, leaving me scammed out of my money-which is currently being fought. Honestly, she can keep the money, but my thorough reports have been made. This is bigger than a refund. She could've just truly taken accountability and let the dispute process ride out... Throughout this ordeal, Nae Payton showed no accountability or genuine empathy. Instead, she repeatedly messaged me, insisting I shouldn't have disputed the charge and demanding payment for what was ultimately incomplete service. I even had to block her because her unprofessionalism was shining once again. After consulting with family lawyers and trusted advisors, it's clear that I am the victim--placed in an uncomfortable situation while she only showed concern once I sought a refund. I did not have this ordeal with Lala (The Shop owner). However, I reached out to Lala at my reinstall appointment asking where her stylist was, but received zero response. However, Nae Payton is listed as a stylist on "The Shop" website. DM me for more information/pictures! Beware of scams y'all.

I just went in towards the end of may hoping to get my hair braided to keep from having to do it every morning before work. I scheduled my appointment online, like I've done in the past no biggie right?!. The earliest appointment i see available is at 9am, I'm like perfect i like to be in and out first thing in the morning plus I had to be in San Jose by 2:30. Upon arriving the shop is fully bodied with ladies already getting there hair done including by Yoshi. She tells me to have a seat she'll be with me shortly. Ok, no problem. She was about 15-20 minutes into my appointment when they lady who's hair she was doing left. I finally seat in the chair, hoping this can be done in the 2 hours it had listed online. Not even half way into my hair the lady who's hair she was doing returns to continue her hair. I sit back down another 30-45 minutes. While waiting another client walks in and Yoshi attends to them by washing the girls hair. Still waiting, she finally finishes the first clients hair then I sit back down. Then she returns to the 2nd clients hair to blow dry all while I'll still waiting. I ask how long will it be due to having somewhere else to be. She said she would finish right away. I showed Yoshi a picture from online for how I wanted my hair. What I ended up with was nothing of the sort. She did only what she wanted to do. I have no design and my braids look big and bulky. Hard to believe I only had them in for 1 day. I had to keep them in for the day since I had somewhere to be. It killed me though. The top middle braids was sooooo tight I could hardly laugh or enjoy myself. By the end of the day I had a huge headache. It was just disappointing to have asked for one style and not receive it at all. I feel like I wasn't valued as a client especially with her attending to people during my appointment time who arrived after me. When taking that final look in the mirror I could have cried. Wasting all the time waiting just to see the final style and it's not a style at all... Ugh!

I went back the following week and had the owner Danielle, do a color and highlight. My hair no longer looks like a frizzled mess with ugly boxed color in it. I went back to my natural chocolate brown with mild blond highlights. My hair looks so much better. I see Danielle again this weekend for a Keratin straightener treatment. I'm really excited. I highly recommend this awesome East Bay salon. If you get there early you can kill time in the Dollar Tree store.
