For example, the server brings the dessert display and right in the middle and without excusing decided to take care of another customer and ring them out. We've been going to AQ for 10+ years and love it! Tonight we ordered an appetizer, not available, entre, not available, another entre not available. We had lunch at the African Queen and it was one of the best meals in a long time. We started with a coupe de champagne and then moved to a very nice house rose. For our first course we had the gazpacho and the burrata. Both were fabulous - the gazpacho had a nice spiced taste and the burrata was one of the creamiest I've ever eaten. Then we had the special turbot with white and green asparagus and also the duck breast with a huge piece of foie gras sitting on top. Both were delicious. The asparagus was crisp but just cooked through and the turbot was fresh and nicely cooked. The duck breast was perfect and the foie gras soft and creamy. The service was immaculate and very professional but the waiters were also friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back in a few week when a friend is in town. read more

Food - Mediocre at best Pricing- Slightly high. Service is sub-par. If you are American then you will be disrespected, ignored and treated poorly. We booked a table for 19 people to celebrate my fathers 70th birthday. On making the reservation they asked if we wanted one table or two tables. We confirmed one table is preferred. Now I understand it's not always easy to accommodate a large party like this. However, when we arrived the restaurant was fairly busy (but not full), and they instead put us on two separate tables no where near each other. Not one large table as we had confirmed by phone. We may as well have been eating in separate restaurants rather than celebrating my fathers birthday together. That said my dad is easy going and it was already late in the evening so instead of finding another restaurant we decided to try and make it work. The waiter that served us was polite. But the service was incredibly slow on both tables, and the food was cold and mediocre. Both tables complained to the waiter and asked for a concession. Not unreasonable one would think. And easy enough to do by removing items (like pizza) from the bill. However, the waiter did not seem to know what to do. He explained that he had spoken to the manager and owner and was told not to fix the bill and that there was nothing he could do. It took him 30 minutes to tell us this which was both surprising and irritating. It means that either he didn't tell management that there was a problem or that the management don't care. Perhaps it's just me (I know it's not), but in the hospitality business, when a customer has a genuine complaint, the manager should come over to try and resolve. Instead the management refused to come to speak with us until we insisted. So... another 30 mins later the manager, who identified himself as "Christophe", comes to speak to us. He shrugs and dismisses our complaint and suggests that we are unreasonable for complaining about: 1- spliting up our party, 2- cold mediocre over priced food; and 3- incredibly slow service. Instead he tells the waiter to give us some "lemon chelos" to shut us up. Seriously! We had already been there for over 2 hours with a party of 19 people, all of whom had complained to my dad about the slow service and cold food. My father politely thanked the manager for this non-gesture, and suggested that he take off some items or remove 25% off the bill and call it a day. Simple, right? Wrong. There was no apology. No discount on a two table bill with an aggregate total of around $1000 euros. My mother, rightly or wrongly, said "no problem, if you don't want us to leave happy we'll update TripAdvisor about this experience". This set Christophe on yet another audible tirade. He was so verbally rude, aggressive and dismissive (complete with lots of hand gestures and confrontational stare downs) that he stormed away from the table yet again mid-conversation about the bill prompting one of my father's friends (a man in his 70's that retired to this locale and previously a frequent visitor to this restaurant going back more than 30 years) to get up and follow him to the other part of the restaurant where a screaming match between the two of them began. Again there was no apology. Other guests in the restaurant were clearly embarrassed and felt as uncomfortable as we did. By this point I was so disgusted by his handling of the situation and obvious distress he had caused my parents and their friends that I wanted to get them home, so I paid the bill for our table (the other table had paid and left the restaurant telling us how upset they were and that they were disappointed we chose this restaurant in the first place). On leaving I told the manager that he had no business working front of house in hospitality and that he was very rude. At this point he literally stepped forward and really wanted to have a fist fight with me! Unprofessional is an understatement. Three other waiters stepped up to me to separate us, shook my hand and apologized profusely for his behavior and the restaurant. It's ironic that all could have been resolved quickly and amicably at the onset with a simple "I'm sorry" and removing a few pizzas from the bill. Something one waiter told us the manager should have done and apologized that he was wasn't able to do this. Needless to say we will not be back. For those new to the area there are so many great local restaurants. Strongly suggest you try elsewhere. read more

As usual I'll tell you my experience , First the restaurant is very classy , they give you blankets when you stay outside Menu and every thing is perfectly balanced , fresh and healthy food, Mediterranean fish and shells ,truffles from Italy ..... and all the products wines as well D.O.P and A.O.P (if you don't know what is mean google it ) , the Owner Mr Gilbert Vissian is a chef , retired now , but well known in the business In France everybody knows him and his legendary temper and his strictness His eyes are everywhere , and knows all about a restaurant from A to Z The place is at the same address since 1969 (l'année érotique) and well known by the stars and Hollywood diaspora The wetter that you want to be served by his name is " Sherif "so so so so lovely ,professional ,smily , good looking and really knows how to advice you for the dishes and what you want to eat , Look like he knows by watching you what you want Not to say other wetters were bad !! All were super friendly and lovely next time I sit in another corner to try another one service I went for the "truffle pizza" a MUST to eat there (I didn't came here to eat pizza but is worth a bite ) That day they had fresh tuna tartare !! I'm not going to tell you more about this dish It was from another world ! Guys we are in maybe one of the French top 10 restaurants , MASSIVE QUALITY HERE !!!!! Couldn't ask for a better setting. Excellent bottle of wine. In my party of 5, we were seated at once and offered drinks. First course appeared quickly. Main course was pleasing to taste, but delivered at different times. After this, we had dessert, then coffee, both of which were dreadfully slow. It took more than a half hour to get our check......small torment due to all of the smokers seated nearby.....we were seated in the outdoor section. Two in our group had a delicious pizza....vapor-thin crust. One had ravioli that disappeared quickly. My friend next to me had the roast lamb, which was cooked to perfection. I had the sea bream which was tasty but poorly filleted. Deserts were all crowd pleasers.....lemon sorbet, creme brulee, apple tart, lemon custard, and raspberry tart. By law, French restaurants include tax and service in each item's price. Nevertheless, we left a €20 tip because the place was jam packed. This was a positive experience, but I would not choose it again unless I was hosting a "visiting dignitary" due to the lofty prices....you pay to eat next to the yachts in the marina.
