I left highly impressed. Carol did a great job - far better than my recent barbers - and she clearly knew her stuff. She took the time to listen to what I wanted, and seemed to understand how hair works, so she could work with/around my cowlick and thinning areas. The resulting haircut was exactly what I wanted: it looked great on day one, and grew out nicely. I will be returning - she's now my go-to "barber"!

I left a message, but didn't receive a call back. I called again and got an appointment for the same day with Craig. My hair is extremely long, but has usually just a bit of layering in front, which needed to be corrected. Craig wasn't happy, didn't greet me besides telling me to hang my coat, I kept feeling obliged to keep the conversation going before I sat in the chair because I was nervous, but it didn't work, so I sat. My hair was cut dry. To fix it, Craig did a total of five cuts and then cut a bit off the back. It took five minutes (probably less than that). I said, "Is that it? Are we done?" He handed me a mirror, but I couldn't see. I told him this, but he just said it was done. I didn't know what to say because how do you say, "Could you actually cut my hair?" So, I not only paid but gave him a $5 tip. That's when he was nice for the first time and gave me a card for the shop. When I came home, I looked and my minor problem not didn't have long layers (as was promised, but had three shelves). I had this fixed elsewhere, but UGH. I think Craig probably does great hair for twenty years ago if he's in a good mood, but if you have long hair or if he's in a bad mood, I'd avoid. I was in town for one of my friends wedding and needed to get my hair done soooo bad! I went to yelp and typed in hair-braiding and so many different other things. But she came up and just by looking at her pictures I knew she would be good. I then called and she was very friendly I explained the craziness that was going on with my hair and she told me that she could do it and it would be no problem and that she could see me that evening. Since I was from out of town I had no idea where a hair shop was, so Aseelah meet with me and my friends and then showed us where the shop was and even helped me to make sure I got the proper hair and matched he color perfectly! We then went to her I home hair studio, which by the way was very clean and her family was so kind, friendly and respectful! In other times when I've had my hair in box braids some of them would fall due to be to them being too tight, but these were just right! Also, she gave me great suggestions on how to care for my braids properly. I now have them out, but when I get braids again I will be going to Aseelah again. Oh! They do not use combs ,products and expertise for very curly hair. The owner, a very sweet lady, told me to straighten my hair. They are so involved in their movies, the session can last longer than needed. I went to them because they were the only salon in the area that could accommodate me on a short notice. I called about 48 hrs prior. They owner called me two hours prior appointment to confirm and to set the price. Once I got there, Carole wanted to comb my hair while it was dry (a big No-No for curly hair) and washed my hair. She mostly scrapped my scalp with her nails while keeping up with the movie on TV. Then, she wanted to blow dry my hair with a comb that wasn't made for curly hair. (In hindsight i should have run home, anyone who has healthy curly hair would cringe at my experience, but I was already too engaged in the movie). The owner was the one doing the braiding. She made them too tight and said that the only way to do it for curly hair. She was also engaged in the movie (and i think it's the reason why my appointment lasted so long). I do not like the final product. That's not the look I came for. I will NOT be back at that salon. They are lovely ladies, but I think they need to experiment more with curly hair.
