I called about extensions. The woman I spoke with was engaging and professional and answered all of my questions. We had a lovely chat, and I was excited to make an appointment. I was then advised this salon is not gender inclusive. This is particularly disappointing given the owner's history of social entrepreneurship and positive community impact, and also confusing since gender-inclusive bathrooms are listed. I explained that I am gender fluid and a working member of the beauty industry and that I didn't know who else to contact in our area, but no other help or recommendations were available. My first experience here was good. The women here were very nice and understanding. However,I received a burn on the back of my neck and ended up redoing the makeup because outside in the natural lighting I was orange. Also, they need to be more knowledgeable on dealing with natural hair. You can not brush hard strokes starting from the top down. I give two stars because the young woman who did my hair was able to take me right away, which was my first time going there; however, I was very DISAPPOINTED with the outcome of my style. I showed a picture and was told that she could do it. The braids were heavy at the base, and thin coming down to my waist, when I asked specifically to have it to the middle of my back. It was very spacy at the top. I've had my hair braided many times by other people, and complained of it being too tight and pulling out my edges; in a nutshell, this is the worst that my hair has looked. I just want to say what a fantastic experience I had at this salon, beginning with the receptionist who went above and beyond in a friendly, helpful manner. She even went to the store next door with me to help me pick out lashes. Then, Nadia applied the lashes and she did an amazing job. I love them! Nadia was kind and gentle and provided me with the information I needed to know about the care of the lashes so they would last longer. this review is long past due. i went to this salon over a year ago,to do my roots. Coming from the city and the same color is for 15 plus years. they really did a great job. they listen and produce what u want for sure. i was very specific with hundreds of pictures of coppers and golden blondes. i did not go back because it takes a long time to do great hair and as a single mom i never found a half day to come back and do full highlights. i even considered growing myh hair out but cant take it anymore.im going to make an appointment this week (have massive growout) and hope to find a solution such as producing similar color with single processing that wont stop me to visit regularaly or use lack of time as a reason not to. i realize the first visit will be long again even for single processing but maintenance should be quicker with single processing (and possibly partial highlights) read more

Purchased a Groupon for a keratin treatment and didn't wash my hair for four days as instructed, after I washed it, I didn't notice a difference and my hair was still frizzy/wavy. I've had this done at a different salon before and the 3-4 day waiting period at this salon kept my hair greasy/wet and smelly. By the forth day I wanted to puke from the smell. At the other place I went to, my hair was dry and didn't have a smell. Not sure what type of keratin they are using here but it doesn't work! read more

When I walked in my sewn in hair and natural hair that was down the middle of my back were slightly damp. When I called to schedule the appointment they told me both had to be washed prior to the appointment. They took my $400 hair and insisted it had to be dried to a room in the back of the salon out of my sight. After asking the receptionist 30 minutes later to give me my hair they said it was still drying. I was very upset because you hear stories of people switching out hair on clients. If anything wouldn't a salon put you at ease and bring your hair to you? Nope! Not this one! Then they put this product in my hair before braiding it that stunk and made my scalp tingle! They said it was to prevent itching. Angeline's assistant braided my hair so tight I had to take Tylenol for 2 weeks before my head felt normal again. I never take drugs! After 4 weeks I told my husband to take out my weave which he always does and my hair fell out of hair by the handfuls which it never did. I could still smell the stinky product they put in my hair after weeks and my natural hair was so matted that after 5 hours of trying to comb it out I told my husband to just cut it off. Now the back of my head only had one inch of hair. It will take years to grow out. I am used to my natural hair being down my back. I thought by getting a sew in over the summer I could give my hair a break like I have done in the past. She put like some kind of glue substance in my hair. I had a follow up appointment which I cancelled because of the unprofessional attitude they had there. The salon itself looks nice inside but I thought the owner's attitude was very ugly. My daughter and I booked an appointment after my husband found this salon online for us. We are new to the area and desperately needed our hair done as it was dried out, tangled and breaking off....Angie and Rochelle and Jan took excellent care of us. The shampoo in and of itself was awesome, my scalp was pleasantly tingly because they got all the product off. The deep conditioning was fantastic, the highlights are amazing and we both left the salon looking like we had healthy hair. The hair is silky smooth and soft and well-hydrated now. My 15 year old daughter had an appointment at 1pm. Had her wait for 35 min in wait area and I waited with her. Then they took her to shampoo area and had her sitting and waiting for 15 min. Then after not even washing her hair and just doing a quick rinse ( I guess because they were now so behind on their appointments) they take her to a styling chair and make her wait another 5-10 minutes. She went for a wash and blow and now an hour after her appointment they use all this grease on her hair after she tells them it was too much. The stylist is eating her McDonald's while doing her hair. The stylist and coworkers gossiping and talking to each other instead of focusing on their clients and talking to them. Not once do they tell her or give her tips on how to take care of her hair. Spoke to owner Angelline after my daughter tells me about her experience which sounded worst then this review I am posting. Owner apologized and asked if I can bring my daughter back to redo her hair. My daughter's response "I am never going back to that place". We spent $50 plus tip, wasted an hour of our time waiting even though she had an appointment and at the end my daughter had to go somewhere else to get her hair redone. This place lacks professionalism and will lose many more customers if they don't get their act together! read more

Deborah Henderson in the last week I had a big family wedding to attend in Queens NY and I decided to go to Poughkeeosie to get a polish change but every nail salon had a long wait time . I then thought heck get my hair done . I'm thinking it looks flat and just common , while I'm feeling like I need some sort of umph ! While walking I found this salon looking at the purple blue doors , I'm slightly colored blind , I thought why not ! As I entered I was struck by the vast sitting area and saw a receptionist area and could clearly hear her accepting numerous calls . I could also see what was clearly " the salon " area and seeing a tall woman whose attire and high pumps spoke owner , great guess she was ! I asked the receptionist if someone can do my hair , give me quick pick me up ...? In lets say a miracle happen within 2 1/2 hrs ? No one screamed are you nuts or we're to busy . I was told maybe not but let me see and with that she went into the styling area and a young vibrant woman comes out looked at her schedule and said I have two ppl in front of you but they will be no longer than an hour , would you like to wait . I was a bit skidish but thought to myself , I want to look different . I wanted a style to match how vibrant I was feeling . So with some tepadation , thinking there's no way can she do two ppl in an hour . But I felt why not lets do this , and I was not disappointed , she was done in an hour and her two clients looked beautifully transformed . There's some banter that goes on in this otherwise quiet salon , enough to make you feel included but not enough to make you feel " if they'd only stop talking I would be serviced faster" much the opposite... It was hmm lively , I like lively ! I like a place that checks in with their waiting clients asking if they need something or giving an update as to how much longer my stylist would be . My stylist was so attentive and was constantly keeping me in the loop about what she was doing and how I can maintain the style . My stylist was Claire ...Claire you rock with your expertise and fantastic smile , you should be cloned ! I never had such quality hair added to my own ! Angelline thank you for my lashes ! And most of all allowing your place of business to be fun , yet very professional ! I loved how you gently lent your expertise to my stylist about my hair and adding some fun highlights ! I truly love this salon, from the moment you walk in you are welcomed by someone at the front desk. The salon has a wonderful upscale looking decor. Its a large space with elegant Chandler light fixtures marble tile floors and the most comfortable leather chairs ever. The staff is super friendly and professional. I have never had to wait long to be serviced. I also love the attentiveness of the staff, they offer complementary beverages. I used to live in NYC and I recently moved to the area and I was having a hard time finding a salon in the area that could handle my ethnic hair. They did a great job with my natural hair. When I arrived I was told they did not have the product to do my hair, she then mentioned she had to cancel two other appointments for the same treatment and told someone to call me to cancel. Bought a Groupon deal for the $99 keratin treatment. What a waste of money. my hair was frizz free for 4 days only, the 4 days I wasn't suppose to wash it, and I follow their instructions precisely. My hair is frizzier now than before the treatment. I called the salon to see if something could be done about it and according to the receptionist the owner would call me back. That was 3 weeks ago and haven't gotten a call from her yet. Maybe they're good at doing other things, but not keratin treatments for sure. read more

The cleaniness along with Stylist, that really can do hair is honestly what will keep me coming back. They work with all hair types as well which is key!
