I have been a loyal client at this salon for five years, but after my last visit with Becks 3.5…read moremonths ago, I will not be returning or recommending her services. During my appointment, Becks made drastic, irreversible changes to my hair without my consent. Despite explicitly knowing my hair history--including recent post-breastfeeding regrowth--and knowing I have naturally thin hair and have always kept my shortest layers at shoulder length, she cut off over 8 inches of length in sections, thinned my hair out to a third of its original volume, and cut top layers to ear-length. The result was a severely thinned-out, top-heavy mullet shape, blended down to a sparse fraction of my original length in the back. I had to stop Becks mid-haircut to ask what was happening when I noticed the heavy thinning and short chops at my ears. When I pointed out the ear-length layers, she took zero accountability and repeatedly pointed to the thin long strands in the back to claim she "kept the length." To make matters worse, during my previous couple of visits with her, Becks charged me full price for dry cuts without a shampoo, wash, or style, claiming this was her standard procedure--which was not the case for the four-plus years prior. I waited over three months to write this review to see if a few months of growth would make it manageable. It hasn't. The damage cannot even be reshaped by another stylist; my only option is to wait a full year for the ear-length layers to grow back. I now have to wear clip-in extensions every single day from the moment I wake up just to feel presentable. After five years of loyalty, I expected far better communication, technique, and basic professional accountability from Becks.

I fell in love with a young lady's everything...her waist length boho knotless braids including color, parting and style. Booking was a breeze. I text the phone number provided Tuesday morning. I provided a photo of the style I wanted, which was taken from Ménage Lux's Instagram along with an inquiry of price and availability. By the end of the day, I scheduled my appointment and paid my deposit. The young lady I communicated with was responsive without much delay. My head has found its braiding home for the foreseeable future. I am so appreciative of Ménage Lux popping on my Instagram feed and for the young lady who did my hair. My hair is identical to the picture I presented and I could not be happier. Braiding hair was included in the price, I had to supply the hair for the curly look pieces. My style was performed by a single braider in about 6 1/2 hours. The address says 814 Post, which is a locked, black gate. 812 Post is the door entry into Ménage Lux. The commute was pretty easy. Coming from the east bay, I took Bart to Montgomery and rode the 38 to Leavenworth and Geary. From there it was a 3 minute walk to the shop. I popped into a cafe, one block up, since I arrived early I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would recommended Ménage Lux to anyone looking for great vibes, professional service and a style ready to take on the world! The shop itself is elongated. It has 3 waiting chairs, 5 service chairs and full length mirrors in front of each station. There is plenty of space between each station to place your personal items down and not feel on top of other clients. I L.O.V.E. my look!
