David saved my severely bleach-damaged hair the only way you CAN really save it when it's gotten that bad -- with a stylish short cut. But he did more than just cut. He gave me a color that he based on some hidden virgin hair I had left, determining the exact right tone for the base color and putting in a few subtle highlights that look very natural (rather than "oh look, she got highlights done" obvious). He took me from dated, bra-strap-length, brassy frizzy hair to a deeper, multi-tonal, modern angled lob. The results have just the restorative effect I needed while giving me a refreshed new style. Considering that I wasn't 100% sure what was feasible when I walked in, and thus had a hard time communicating my desires at first, I'm really happy with where we arrived at the end. The salon itself is great -- they play music softly (I sure wish more salons did this!), offer you great coffee and have the most comfortable chairs. Just be sure to watch for parking! I exceeded the 2-hour limit and returned to an $87 ticket on my car. (Set your alarms to avoid this!). You'll also get a text reminder a few days before your appointment. I had a cut and color and the stylist did a very nice job. She was super sweet and the experience was really nice. The reason she lost two stars was because of the lack of communication on pricing. I went in for a cut and color, which historically I've paid about $150 for plus tip, and being that the salon was in Glen Park, figured we'd be in that ballpark. The salon doesn't offer pricing on the website, which I thought was strange, but was willing to give it a try. The stylist suggested highlights, too, and I said okay. Pricing still not discussed (I probably should have asked at that point). When all was said and done, I went to the register and she said I owed her over $300. The highlights, alone, were an additional $125. When she saw the surprised look on my face, she pulled out the salon's brochure and said she'd given me some kind of package deal. I've never worked with an independent stylist who rented a space and didn't have their own pricing - sometimes more, sometimes less and always communicated. So Park Salon owner, rather than field calls a day asking how much you charge, maybe post the prices on the website with a disclaimer stating that the stylists who rent space may charge different prices and to call for those. At least potential clients could get a rough idea of the pricing so they aren't surprised like I was. read more

Amore (Rae) has done an absolutely amazing job with my hair. I finished chemo treatments about 8 months ago and while I was excited to have my hair finally growing back It also made me feel extremely subconscious. Visited the salon for highlights and a wash and blow while visiting my daughter and family from NYC! The stylist and colorist that did this for me is called nelly diaz. She did the highlights first and then she did the roots! It has never happened to me in that order! She hit the nail on the head and the highlights were neat and the roots came out perfectly wonderful! An amazing colorist and stylist! I asked for the colors so I can suggest these to my colorist back in NYC for the next time I would need this done. The place is immaculately clean! Price was competitive. It pains me to write a negative review because Jody is a cool chick. I've lived with this haircut for the past five weeks in the hopes that eventually I'll wake up and love it, but it's just not getting any better. Much like syphillis, wishing it'll fix itself just isn't enough. My bangs are uneven, my layers don't fall correctly regardless of how I blow out my hair, and the cut was approximately 5 inches shorter than I'd requested. I look like a Midwestern mother of three. Sort of like Frances McDormand in Fargo, but with a bigger ass. Now, every time I walk down Chenery past the salon, I lower my head and avoid making eye contact for fear that I'll have to explain why I haven't been back for my complimentary bang trim. I was in Glen Park visiting friends and decided on a whim to swing into The Park Salon to get my hair cut. I had my 6 month old with me and because he is generally a good baby my husband scooted down to the bar. Jody was available and I told her what I wanted and she told me how we could achieve it and what we couldn't achieve. I was asking for a cut I'd seen on TV so I knew it would most likely be a loose interpretation, but honestly it turned out to be exactly what I wanted, and now 2-3 weeks later, its still exactly what I wanted. Back to the baby, after sitting with me to get my hair washed I put him back in his stroller, only to have him start to fuss within a couple minutes, Brian wasn't currently occupied so he took charge and literally entertained my kid during my entire haircut - it was amazing and really refreshing. I've got to give Jody at Park Salon crazy, mad respect for her hair cutting and styling skills. Seriously, she is the first hair dresser brave enough to say, "Yeah, let's do a pixie cut!" What tha? As Holly C. mentioned, Jody knows what she's doing! Seriously. She's confident when she cuts and already has a vision of what will look great. Another thing I really loved were her suggestions into actual hair care. She didn't push product on me but gave me ideas of how to take better care of my hair. Quiet street, Perch (one of my favorite stores - is right across the salon), and you can always find parking to get your errands done or just walk around and enjoy the little shops. Brian has been cutting and highlighting my hair for a couple years now. I'm a bit of a tomboy (albeit an adult one) and have a hard time getting in here more than twice a year, but every time I come in Brian is able to work magic and turn my natural dirty blond into a something bright and shinny. His highlights, low-lights, and cuts have always been exceptionally exacting and precise. He spends 4 hours on my crazy mass of super straight, super thick hair, and would never imagine complaining! He never rushes me out of the chair, but takes his time to do the job right. And, oh boy, does he ever do it right. The highlights/low-lights look incredibly natural. I'm sure Brian is great at all types of haircuts, but I can only comment on his ability to work with long hair, and his artistic ability with high/low lights. I went here last Saturday. Brian and I discussed my lifestyle (lots of scooter driving, eww helmet head!) and decided that a straight cut along the bottom of my long hair would be best.
