This is a hard industry to review because it's not staffed with Dale Carnegie graduates. That's just reality. I've ridden with these folks many times and I can state that if they said they'd have a driver at my home within X minutes, usually 30 minutes or less, they never let me down. Economical. I always pay cash so I don't know their policy about cards. Their electronic systems seemed to be functional when I was riding with them. I've never had luggage. Most drivers have shown basic civility and one complied with my request to watch until I got into my house after a medical procedure. None smoked. One driver is unusually loutish and after my second ride with him I began riding with Willamette Valley Yellow Cab, which in my experience is only marginally more expensive. read more

I am so unbelievably disgusted with what happened to me today. My driver begin insulted me from the moment I got in the broken down, cigarette smelling van that looks like it held a few children hostage in at some point...The same van from below I'm sure. The whole time he was complaining about dispatch and now he couldn't understand a thing they were saying because of the cheap phone he had. And Sure enough even though the car says they except visa he got so mad at me because I only had debit and not cash. He finally said that he could process it but he got even more upset because he didn't have a working pen. He then began to drive off to find a pen even though my door was open and I am seven months pregnant !! He told me "leave the door open leave the door open". When the car stopped the door slam shut because it's a van door and he said "I thought I said leave it open??" Physics does say that if you stop a car with the door open it will close on its own he did not even take this into consideration and was angry with me that the door closed. After leaving me like a dog inside the store to find a working then he insulted me saying that he is never in his life encountered this problem before. Up until this point I remain calm I finally told him that this was extremely unprofessional. He ended up taking all of my information (which I am not comfortable with) and left in anger calling me names under his breath. Never again. Wow. read more

Well, Affordable Taxi gets you from point A to point B.... and I guess that's the main point. I've used them twice and got 2 different cab drivers. Both of them smoked heavily and both cabs were dirty. If you're not particular about cigarette smoke, and just need a ride... it's ok. read more

Driver I dealt with was inconsiderate and his driving is too aggressive. He actually would speed up beside vehicles to keep them from getting in front of him and would not care if they went off the shoulder of the road. This happened where two lanes went down to one lane. I won't ever use this cab service. read more

The drivers are nice but the call women are rude and put you on hold for however long they please. I was on hold for over 15 min and called again to get the same rude women who tried to put me on hold again. The worst in Salem by far. Trying to save face, THIS COMPANY IS NOT UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP, has same owner since 2010. Let me just say, has run into the ground. The lady told me 20-30 mins, which was actually 1hr... Per usual Obviously, no maintenance is being maintained on these vehicles. I was literally scared the taxi would fall apart at any moment(sounded like it and looked even worse!) Every cab I've driven in has multiple colored parts. This particular one was, RED WHITE AND GREEN COLORED!! The bumper is held together by wire and duct tape.. The headlight fell out as soon as we turned out of my driveway, then the driver used tape to put it back together.. Like, WTF? It literally was grinding or something the whole drive and was struggling to switch gears. I would rather hitchhike than use this company!! I'd be safer! They charged us double for a ride that should have been like $7. We had taken a taxi earlier in the day from the same company for that price and no problems, but the second one got charged twice for exactly the same distance and from the exact same places. When we called to dispute it, the lady on the phone tried to tell us that they charge for wait time as soon as they arrive at the destination. When I made the point that I've never experienced that even though I've used their service repeatedly in the past and I had used it earlier that day and that didn't happen, she didn't listen to me. And when I mentioned that the charge was written woth paper on pencil and is easily altered she got mad at me and yelled. This is shady and rude. Thankfully, I don't enjoy being bullied and will be looking at other routes to resolve the issue since the company refused to help me. read more

The drivers are great. My experiences have been fantastic. They know their way around, have good recommendations and dispatch is courteous.

They have unprofessional customer service! The lady that answers the phone or the dispatcher really has an ugly attitude. I dont know if this is her business or what but i've had couple frustrating experiences with them. Some of the drivers are good they drive pretty smooth and follow the law. Some are reckless and some would drive the longest way to so you pay more. If you ride the taxi alot then you will know how you're payong the driver on an average. I would not recommend this place. I hope the dispatcher gets fired. You need someone with good attitude and customer service. read more

David Norftzedt Owner at Affordable Taxi - Salem, Oregon, I'm writing this email to make a complaint about one of your drivers & one of your dispatchers.  I called & set up an appointment to have a taxi arrive at my home at 3135 Ellis Way NE last Saturday evening (April 29, 2017).  I had called beforehand to set up.  I asked for the taxi to arrive at 7:15 pm.  The driver got here at 7:05.  He had long blondish hair that was in a ponytail (just so you know who it was).  I went out & told him that we would be coming out as soon as possible.  I asked him if there was any possibility that he could assist my friend getting into the taxi when she came out.  He said, "I'm not a caregiver" & said it very rudely.  He said, "What....is she in a wheelchair or something?"  I said, "No, but she may need you to take her elbow & just help a little bit".  He got mad then.  My friend has neuropathy & her knee & ankle was hurting some.  My friend also has Chrone's disease so she was in my bathroom emptying her colostomy bag.  I told her that she needed to hurry because the taxi was there.  (Bear in mind that the taxi driver got there 10 mins. early).  The dispatcher called the driver at that point & I heard their very rude conversation.  She said that we had 2 mins. to get into the taxi & some other unprofessional things.  I tried to repeat myself & said it would just be a few more minutes (knowing that if my friend was going to not be ready by 7:15 pm the driver would charge me for waiting).  The dispatcher then called me & said, "I only have one driver on tonight & we need for you to hurry!!"  I explained what was holding my friend up & that she would be out as soon as she could".  So the driver went out & smoked a cigarette.  And, of course your driver wouldn't assist her at all & became very rude again.  I asked the driver, "You mean that you only have one driver on a Saturday night?"  Ihen we got in the van & started out, he started honking the horn very rudely because a child was trying to get out of the way.  He was mad the whole time.  It was very upsetting to both me & my friend.  Again, this is very unprofessional.  After we got on the rode my friend & I were just having a conversation & he kept interrupting us.  When we got to our destination & I paid he handed me the device to sign it.  I thought he was just handing it to me & he said, "Well, I was trying to hold it for you & you grabbed it out of my hand!!"  Once again, he said it very rudely. Now, when I take a taxi I believe I should have a more congenial driver.  As you know, taxis cost a lot of money & his & your dispatchers unprofessionalism was very upsetting to us.  Needless to say, it was a very uncomfortable experience.  Rudeness is uncalled for.  When we got to our destination (a conference with about 200 people attending) we told some of our friends what happened.  Several of them asked, "Was it Affordable Taxi Co."  We said, "Yes" & they all said that they had ridden with your company & would NEVER use your company again.  We told other people there about the unprofessionalism & they said it was uncalled for & were appalled.  I TOTALLY agree with them.  All of them said, "Thank you...& we will NEVER call them for taxi service".  One of our friends offered to give us a ride home after the conference was over so that we wouldn't have to 'put up with' unprofessional & rude people.  When I called your company on Monday morning I spoke to Jenny.  I told her everything that happened.  When she asked me which driver it was, I said that I didn't know.  Then she asked, "Did have blondish long hair & is rude?".  I said, "Yes, that was him".  I told her about the conversation that he & your dispatcher had & she told me that she would speak to the dispatcher. Jenny agreed that we shouldn't have been treated that way & that she would talk to her.  Jenny said that she would call me back that afternoon or Tuesday. Well, I didn't hear back from her so I called her on Thursday.  She said that she had talked to the dispatcher & your dispatcher lied & said that she didn't talk to me (or about me) that way.  Well, your dispatcher lied!  Why do you have such unprofessional people work at your company?  I am in the service industry & I would NEVER treat people like that.  Some people are meant to be in the service industry & some people just aren't!  What I can't understand is why you would want to have such ungrateful & unprofessional people working at your company.  There a lot of people who would do a much better job. I will NEVER call your company again.  My friends agreed & said that they wouldn't either.  I wish that I would have looked at your reviews on Yelp before calling your company.  They are terrible & it seems that a lot of other people had terrible experiences too.  I have many choices here in Salem & your company is NOT one anymore!!  I am also going to put a negative review on Yelp & tell everyone I know not to ever ride with your company. read more

That said 30 minutes, I called after 35 to check eta. She said they were "on the way". I called 20 minutes later and was told 5 minutes he'll be there. 10 minutes later we left. They never did call, so I wonder if they ever did arrive. Salem isn't that big. Lying to you customers is not the way to win repeat business. I would only use this service if I had to. The cars are somewhat rundown. The drivers are fine and the dispatch is courteous, but over an hour wait at either end of our trip is ridiculous, especially when we're told it'll be 20-30. With no buses on the weekends and unreliable cab services, the lack of Uber and Lyft here is very frustrating. read more

awesome cab drivers during day time. call an hour in advance no later or you might not get your ride in time. if you do not call before I've had to wait an hr a few times but other times less than 10 mins. they tell you on the phone how long it would take. if you have cash use it instead some might not take cards. remember tip your cab driver good. hey if you keep using their service and get on a cab drivers good side you might get discounts once in awhile. read more

Picking my dad up at the hospital building B on Thursday after knee replacement surgery there was an Affordable Taxi sitting in the loading area. I asked the driver to pull ahead 5 feet so I could get in to park, his comment no I am waiting for a fair, I was asking for him just to pull ahead he had plenty of room then he flips me off and tell me to fuck off. The company when I called could care less. His fair walked to the taxi, my farther was in a wheel chair. Stay clear of this company. read more

the call woman that took my call today was nice when I first called for a pick up. she told me the wait would be 45 minutes which was perfect for me. 1 hour had gone by so I called to ask where they were and the lady said he was coming from downtown. it was 2:50 and i had to be at work at 3. I was upset and after asking her what would happen to her if she were late for work I hung up on her. I got a message from the lady on my vm telling me the driver would be there to pick me up at 3 but since I was yelling and cussing at her she was cancelling my cab. not one time did I cus at her or yell at her and I was already walking to work but the dispatch lady was very rude. to top it off I gave them a 2nd chance after they done this to me about a month ago as well. I will never, NEVER call this cab company again. I have had several good rides with a few drivers but some i wasn't sure if they were drunk or what but talk about a scary ride. read more
