I got there early, before it was open, I was not sure if you need to schedule an appointment or if it was first come. I saw a guy pull his vehicle into the lot. Thinking he probably works there. I start the conversation by asking if he works there. He stares at me with an annoyed look and says OBVIOUSLY ! I called them up on a Tuesday and they couldn't give me a basic quote, but with something as tricky as an exhaust, I can understand that. I dropped it off last Thursday at 9:30 AM. There were several waiting ahead of me but they called me at 10:30 with the information on the car, the estimate, and what else needs to be addressed (if I win some small lottery [NOTE: Not because of their prices, but because the converter for my car is HELLA $$$]). I gave the go-ahead on my car and their service was done within 90 minutes. Fast. Friendly. Courteous! My car drives SO much better than it did before I brought it in. They also helped me out with another issue as well that was not standard. I can not praise them enough, but let me say this was worth every penny! read more

Honest to a fault will not do work you dont need. The cost is very reasonable. If you have a noise in your muffler at all bring it here. I have driven up here three times with two cars (Rusty old POS but they are PAID and I love no car payments.) and been out of then for under 200 dollars twice for major rusted out parts. I sat in the waiting room both times reading a book on purpose. Listening to other people get their quotes for how much it is. Every single repair sounded reasonable. (Oh that is 125 dollars, That is 50 dollars, That is free dont worry about it) This is the kind of place you want to stay in business. No need to ride around with your car sounding loud. The tailpipe fell off my son's car, and there was some underneath rattling that didn't sound good at all. They replace the exhaust system and put on a new mounting bracket for something ridiculously low, like about $120 total. Couldn't believe it. That was a year ago, and no problems since. They're honest, don't up sell things you don't need, are fast, and very efficient. Their business model is apparently to do just this one thing -- exhaust systems -- but do it really, really well. They make a lot of money by making a little bit of money off lots of customers, rather than trying to make a lot of money off an unfortunate few. Affordable Muffler was recommended to me by a friend and she was absolutely correct in recommending this place. Another oil change/auto repair shop suggested I get my entire muffler replaced for over $1,000. I came here and was informed that I only needed a portion of my muffler repaired and the cost - a fraction of that! My car sounds amazingly quiet and I'm so happy. The guys here are professional and nice. They obviously are not in the business of ripping people off. It's first-come first-serve, but they are so on top of their game, I can't see anyone waiting even half a day for their car. Oh--and a 1 year warranty, too! Pros: I've been using these guys for about ten years. They have always been respectful. The work is above par and prices are the best in town. I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge about cars as they always show and explain what the problem is. It was affordable for starters. I wanted to do a Muffler, resonator delete. The knowledge of the team there made you feel comfortable that I chose them to work on my car. He works works with customers every step of the way and lets you know what he wants to do and how much it will cost you before he begins the work. There is no shady work at this fine establishment. I went in for a muffler and y-pipe delete. I received strong recommendations and honest feed back when telling him exactly what i wanted. If he didnt think it was right he would let me know and suggest better alternatives. I have a newer car than most of the cars he worked on throughout the day and he made me feel as such. after i waited for 2 hours i was told they don't carry mufflers for cadillac's. advance parts store has mufflers for $126.00

2007 Mazda3 had a noise right up front near the engine. This is our go to place for mufflers - probably 5 cars. But for some reason they said they couldn't fix it, that they don't work on this type of repair. Very odd as they always seem to know what to do. We went down W. 130 and another place that added the flex pipe off the manifold, quiet now and $172. We'll still go to Affordable for regular, simple repairs. read more

This is a great shop. Tony and Pete were very helpful. These guys truly care about doing quality work. I went in to have a muffler and resonator delete. Tony gave me a quote (under half of what other shops quoted), walking me through everything that needed to be done. Pete oversaw the work about a week later. Yesterday was my second transaction with Affordable Muffler, and both were positively stellar. The first time was several years ago...the muffler had rotted out on my 2007 RAV4 and Toyota wanted $1500 to replace it. Because they claimed the entire exhaust from the end of the collector back was one piece, so it would require all that piping plus the catalytic converter. I looked online and saw that there was an aftermarket muffler on Amazon for $79. Loads of reviews saying it was the bee's knees, fit perfectly, blah blah blah. All it took was someone to cut out the old one and weld in the new one. I stopped by Affordable Muffler and the guy said no problem. "How's $100 sound?" Sounds like SOLD to me. I was in and out in 45 minutes. Yesterday I backed out of my driveway with a ton of snow on the ground and then I started noticing a clunking sound. Pulled over and saw that the exhaust was broken off at a flange several feet in. The snow I backed over must've grabbed that pipe and twisted it. There was rust, so it was obviously already weak, but the snow-surfing must've finished things. I sawed the hangers off to free the hanging piece, threw it in the back and headed for Affordable. The waiting area was empty when I walked in. My car was on the rack by the time my ass hit the seat in the waiting area. 30 minutes and $100 later, I was out the door. While I was there I heard the guy on the phone with another customer, who's car was in their shop. She must've been really giving him crap, but he was extremely courteous and professional, listing all her options and giving his recommendation, but ultimately leaving it up to her. I was impressed. Later he interacted with a young woman in the waiting area who obviously didn't have much money. Her car had failed the state emissions inspection and after reading her paperwork from the inspection, the Affordable guy told her it sounded like she needed a tune-up, not a replacement catalytic converter. He further told her that AM doesn't do tune-ups, but offered a recommendation for a regular mechanic that does. Now, he could EASILY have sold this girl a new catalytic converter (which aren't cheap) and then sent her on her way. In fact, she asked him to, but he patiently explained that the way her car failed the test, it probably wasn't a bad converter. Ultimately she left and he made no money, even though her car was up on the lift and a mechanic spent around 20 minutes looking it over while she came to her decision. So actually the shop LOST money, but they didn't charge her a thing. That's integrity. So...integrity, speed, excellent pricing...what else could you want in a place like this? I will say that the chairs in their waiting area are super uncomfortable, and my back ached the rest of the evening...but I was in an auto mechanic's shop, not a spa, so I'm not taking a star off for that. Further, there was no television or music in their waiting area, which I think of as WONDERFUL. I avoid television like the plague and I HATE when I'm in some waiting area and am forcibly raped into watching some horrendous drivel that sucks IQ points from my brain. Everyone on earth has a smartphone now, so they can watch their choice of programming (or not) in the privacy of their own hand. Thanks for the peace and quiet, Afforable Muffler! The only thing to keep in mind with AM is that they're NOT a mechanic shop...they fix exhausts. Period. That's what makes them so fast, they're specialized. read more

Everyone knows that whenever a woman walks into a joint to get her car fixed, she may not get the work she needs, but rather the work they make you THINK you need. Not so at Affordable Muffler! I stopped in on a recommendation upon a lot of other recommendations. I hear that so n' so will ONLY take their car here. That people travel from far away to go here. That this is the ONLY place they will allow muffler service.... the list goes on. I called at 10a and said I needed a look-see...they said cheerfully, "bring it in!". When I arrived, I only had to wait maybe 10 minutes before they took my car. After another 10, I got the diagnosis. I sat to wait for the repairs. I waited for about an hour. In that time, I saw a few people come and go. I ended up striking up a conversation with a guy next to me. He's got 6 cars and all are serviced here. Everyone that came up to the desk said how happy they are with the service and that they ARE the best. Someone brought in a "thank you" pizza for the crew. Person after person complemented the extremely friendly guy at the desk (I'm assuming the owner??). Everyone said that this is the only place they will bring their cars. Wow, I thought... I'm in the right place! When my car was done, I paid and was on my way. The price was reasonable and I didn't feel ripped off. A rarity in the auto service world if you ask me. I wouldn't touch a chain muffler place with a ten foot pole. Been there, done that. Affordable Muffler is an independent shop that serves with a smile. I like that. read more

I went to Affordable Muffler after getting a quote from Midas that exceeded $500. I just thought it had to be more affordable and I was right. Before I get into the details of my transaction, my bill out the door was only $183 so clearly I was not mistaken about the price. I had the pleasure of being waited on by Tony, one of the two owners. He was so wonderful I wanted to give him my car when I was done. I couldn't thank him enough. He was kind to every single person who walked in the door. He was helpful and considerate of everyone's time. His nice energy rubbed off on all the customers. I swear we could have all gone out for pizza after the bonding we did. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't that we were there for a long amount of time it was just that Tony set the tone for a nice environment and it was. OK, enough of the gushing. Bottom line, the car sounds way better aka, the way it should and my purse was not beat up in the process. Thanks so much to Tony and to all of his hard working crew. DO NOT GO HERE! Very rude and unprofessional. I have a Suzuki that has a different layout as far as the converter is concerned. I told this to a worker or owner there. A certified Suzuki mechanic told me at the dealership: I have 2 converters on my car and they're in the front. The owner or worker told me, "I don't care what the mechanics at the dealership told you, I'm looking right at a converter in the back!" You would think they'd treat customers with more respect than that. I told him that he was very rude and I'm taking my business elsewhere. If you want to be treated with respect, then I'd advise you stay away from this place. I'm telling everyone I know to not take their vehicles there ever. It's a shame. read more

If you have any extra noise coming from your exhaust system, first take your car to All-Star Muffler directly down the street on W 130th. If they cannot help you, come to Affordable. All-Star does mostly exhaust that entails cutting of pipe or rear exhaust. I drive a Toyota Yaris and had some noise coming from the heat shield area. It turns out I needed a donut gasket and this is a common problem with Toyota. All-Star wouldn't do it so I ended up at Affordable. I told them on the phone that I would need a gasket and bolts replaced and I was quoted $80. So I dropped the car off and they ended up telling me $100 on the phone. I am not one to argue over $20 so I said go ahead with it. There was a really funny guy in the lobby waiting. I will leave you with his words "God don't like ugly." read more

I've been here a couple times, and the guys are generally pretty cool. The only agitation I have had is bringing my car back for a warranty on a flex pipe. The pipe was 165$. Warrantied for a year. Brought it back 10 months later, because it had a hole in it, and was told "your car has an issue that burned up the flexpipe". Bullshit. Bullfuckingshit. They put a cheap flexpipe on the car, and it died within the warranty period. But I was told "i'll eat some of the cost after you take it to your mechanic and fix the issue that burned up the pipe". Gimme a fucking break. Brought the car back a couple weeks later so they could graciously replace the flexpipe, and again, more hassle. This time, i got the "it's gonna be a long time we are really busy" bullshit. No problem.. Left it with them. 3 hours later they call me and tell me that they "dont have the tool to remove the plastic underpinning covers to get to the flexpipe". WTF, its a torx driver, the same one that they used to take it off the first time they replaced the flexpipe. So I bring them one. Work gets done. I pay the bill,75$, which I shouldn't have had to pay and I leave. I get home and look under the car and only half the damn screws are in the plastic panel and it's hanging down. F*ck this place. Go to Allstar. They won't bullshit you, they will take you back and show you exactly what's going on before they do anything, they will give you options, and they honor their warranties. I've been going there for years, I should've gone there this time, but didn't because I was in a rush and Allstar was booked. Like I said, everything was fine, until dealing with the bullshit runaround to get warranty work done. That's unacceptable. Also, if you are comparing muffler shops, you should never ever compare local businesses with places like Midas. Midas is a rip off, everyone who knows anything, knows this. read more
