More than anything I wanted a palette fence! I had the perfect heavy duty palettes to do a fence that I could use the backside as planters. After creating the design, doing estimates and measurements I called 4 different fencing services and NO ONE would build it! They all wanted to use their materials - but I already had all of mine. But luckily I got referred to Bryon Barger - they said he was a great craftsman builder and could do most anything. It was true. After a walk through and review of my plans I could tell Bryon knew what he was doing - I just never expected it to turn out so beautiful! Bryon did excellent work on our fence, so when our 20 year old deck was becoming hazardous we had him out to give us a quote. He responded quickly and was out to our house the same day. He came with sample materials and color options, and we decided to go with a synthetic material which he was excited about and able to do. He also noticed some siding water damage and proposed a very solid design for water drainage in the problem areas. He had our deck done within days after the materials arrived and it came out beautifully. We will absolutely be having him back out for any projects like this. Great experience using Affordable Contractor Services! We recently moved into a new house. I installed a wall dog door from the kitchen to the backyard, but needed someone to come out and fence an area of the yard as a dog run / potty area. It was a pretty small project - 4' tall black chain link fence, and the area is only 120 square feet with one side being the house, so it was only about 27 feet of fencing plus a gate. Yelp allows you to write one message and select multiple recipients for requesting an estimate, so I searched for several fencing companies in the area with high stars and sent the same request to 8 companies. 1 company has still never responded (after 3 weeks). I don't know if it's just because it was a small job, or if they don't regularly use Yelp for estimates, or what... 6 companies responded with a dollar amount for the work. They didn't ask any additional questions, or look at my yard, they just responded with a quote. The highest quote was about $1,300 more than the lowest quote! Only 1 company out of the 8 contacted me and asked for more detail (had me text some pictures of the area and description of what I wanted). That was Bryon at Affordable Contractor Services. Bryon's quote was not the lowest (but still almost $1,000 less than the highest). But I felt that he was the only one who took the time to check out what I wanted and give me a solid quote, and I worried that the couple of estimates that were slightly lower would run the risk of finding something to make them cost more during the install or planning. Anyway, the fence is installed now. It keeps the dog contained, and it looks awesome. Bryon was great to work with, very friendly. Quality work, reasonable price, excellent communication and reliable. I seem to have found some good luck lately with finding a great contractor. I called Bryon from Affordable Contractor Services to get a quote on building a fence that my wife and I have been putting off for years. Bryon came out within a day or two, scoped the project and got back to me within a day or so with a quote. He explained how he planned to approach the build, since it wasn't your traditional fence request. Much to my surprise there were details he caught that I hadn't even thought of but even considering the extra time that may take his quote was very much within reason. We hired him immediately! He was very thorough and had the project wrapped up within a week (allowing the fence post cement to cure for a few days was most of the wait). If you're considering using this contracting service, I would strongly strongly recommend against it. I am not the type of person who writes negative reviews arbitrarily. After over a year, the work that the company was hired for was not completed, I had to pay to finish it myself, and suffer through 3 months of being told I would be reimbursed for the cost. Keep in mind, when these guys were hired, they said it would take 1 month, maybe 3 given the shipping issues with Covid. They took all my money, I communicated with them about every other week, and every couple of months I would get one thing done. During this time, I was living without a kitchen, forced to order take out to the tune of 600$ a week. For nearly 9 months. Afterwards, getting them to complete the job was an absolute nightmare, with the owner "apologizing" every chance he got. But as the months ticked away, and nothing was ever completed, refunded, or communicated, I was forced to literally sue the company for not completing the work, and leaving me stuck with the bill. Honestly, I am sure they are fine with small jobs that can be completed in a day. But unless you want to risk what I'm going through, you're really better off finding another company. That's the absolute bare bones short version. The guy is charismatic, but you know you've been had when "money is being deposited" for over 3 months. read more
