The "We Guarantee Happy Customers" isn't just a hollow advertising slogan. The guys who worked on our fence, Jeremy and Allen, were very good. Jeremy seemed to be the lead and was thorough in communicating the plan, before they started each day and let us know when they were wrapping up at the end of the day. He asked us if he had questions about the plan, didn't make any assumptions, gave us options when he ran into snags and was patient when we peppered him with questions. Allen was super friendly, hard working and was always willing to stop and address questions or concerns we had. It was clear to us that they both genuinely care about the job they are doing and the customers satisfaction. They were organized, did not make a mess, cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day and very incredibly respectful of our space. It truly was a pleasure working with them both. (There was an extra guy on one day, an ex Marine, he was lovely as well! We bonded over our military service but I did not get his name.)The job was estimated for five days and it only took four and a half, including some extra changes we requested during the build. We decided to go with the partial installation package, with RCFD replacing a few rotten posts, restructuring the stairs, adding joists, and installing the hand rails. The RCFD team (Woody, Brook, and Michael) did a great job in the time they were on site. They were always on time, let us know what was happening that day, answered any questions we had, and worked professionally. Woody did a fantastic job explaining to us how to install the deck boards and they went down with minor issues (there's definitely a little bit of a learning curve). Just had a beautiful 300 square foot deck built by Rick's. Initially we went to the showroom and spoke with Spencer who showed us all of our options. He provided hundreds of photos to view of past work, had great brochures, had samples to take home of potential colors and materials. Spencer came out to our home and took all the measurements and guided us through what to expect. Although the cost was quite high, that comes with a very professional attitude and attention to detail. Our install team met us day one on time and ready to go at 0800. Woody, the senior supervisor, went over every detail of the estimate invoice to make sure we were both on the same page. He made it clear that he would check in every morning when they started and every afternoon when they left to ensure that our concerns were answered. For example, they discovered dry rot underneath the header board of the house from the old deck. We addressed it in the morning and it was repaired that day. Most importantly the finished product was an icon of attention to fit and finish. And although I have built my own decks in the past, I could not have achieved the quality of these professionals. I have to mention the other crew member, Norman, a recent transplant from Reno. He was very friendly, easy to talk to, genuine and an excellent apprentice. They finished the job in four full days. We got a couple bids with one being Rick's Custom Fencing in the Camas WA area and we thought it would be better to go with a larger brand name for this fencing project which is a very small job of having one side of our small backyard fence replaced plus a new gate built. Well, when we hired Rick's Custom Fencing end of May 2024, a one day job turned out to be 6 days. A 3 man crew showed up to do the work. They worked all day till 4pm tearing down one side of the old fence, putting on top caps, new gate and 3 metal posts in the ground with the whole side open to the neighbors yard and they thought they were completely done. Complete miscommunication with the office on what had to be done and workmanship was not quality up to this point where neighbors were very unhappy. The manager arrived on the second day with the crew at our request, instructions given to crew for corrections and they ran out of materials but returned later that evening. Many nails left sticking out that were a safety hazard on the 1st & 2nd day so then they returned 5 days later to finish. I then asked if he could be careful around landscape & plants he stepped on a landscape light and broke it in front of me accidentally. They then asked if I would sign forms that didn't get signed initially and one was that I hold them harmless of all and any damages they make. I said no to that one in particular and asked to be reimbursed for the broken light off my remaining bill. They did credit me for the light off my remaining bill. After a week long saga of issues from what initially should have been one day of quick competent service, I could not refer them to anyone or consider using this company again with the stress & inconvenience caused. read more

Purchased their deck boards and clips, upon paying the sales guy said he wasn't sure if they had it in stock. Tried calling the back and when they didn't answer he said well I'm not showing we have it so it should be about 5-6 days...we'll call you as soon as it's ready for pickup. Ok, cool. We waited till the following Saturday to call and find out the status which I was put on hold for about 10 minutes for the sales guy to "check" but then got back on the line and said he still wasn't sure and would call me back shortly. After 3 hours of no call back I called back and was sent to the back office who let me know he pulled the inventory the previous Friday and it's been sitting there waiting for over a week for pickup. They offer great products but their front desk customer service definitely needs help cause it seems as no one knows what's going on and how to assist customers. They definitely dropped the ball, so if your not going to get their products installed you should probably call daily or have the actual sales guy walk in the back to check himself to see if the products are in stock or you may be waiting or have the ball dropped like they did with me. Rick's uses cedar that is kiln dried and imported, contains knotholes galore and splits when nailed in. Some of fence boards are not even nailed to the runners (2x4's). The installation of the fence was installed incorrectly as per the invoice. The cedar was to set on top of the 2"x8" pressure treated wood, not nailed to the side, like the crew was going to do until the salesman was called. The crew was informed by the salesman not to reuse the boards. They did any way as per the labor boss, Chris. The fence was supposed have a 1" overlay on each side. How come I can see my neighbors yard through the fence? The crew came out 3 times to fix split boards and exposed nails. Guess what? They caused new ones. The boards have new gaping holes because of the poor quality wood. The power on the nail gun put nails halfway through the cedar boards. When they attached the cedar to the runners, they missed. Sharp nails are exposed for potential injury. I have had to cut them so my dogs aren't scratched. In some spots 3 nails were used. That would be a cluster. The craftmanship that was done on this job is more like crapmanship. With all these split and cracked boards, I am not going to waste money to stain it. Because some of the split boards are behind bushes, Kris the manager said " It's okay the bushes are hiding them." Every time I go out to my back yard I find more holes, cracks and splits in the boards. Even the pressure treated boards are splitting. Take for instance, the 4"x4" post for my gate. It's splitting down the center and twisting. That's the cedar fence. Now about the resurfacing of porch deck. The corners were not mitered, blunt crooked cuts, boards were not cut even and the porch is not squared to the house. Oh, wait the existing foundation was used. So that is why it is not squared to the house according to the manager Kris. The old porch was square to the house. WTH! I was also charged for joists that were not installed. But wait, when they installed my chain link fence I was charged for posts that aren't there. The latch that was installed didn't work for a one way gate. As per Kris, tie a cord to one side and a nut to the other to pull up the latch to open it. It's butterfly latch. I ended up attaching a piece metal with screws. read more

Living at 1500 ft with more rain than the amazon, our Rick's installed fence began to show sign that the staples were rusting - black streaks. I spoke to Kris several months after the install to explain the situation and requested a reinstall of the pickets. Kris responded quickly and with a couple of week Bran and Rob came by to install new pickets. They did a great job using more water resistant hardware for our elevation and rainfall. About 7 weeks ago we had Ricks Fencing come out and give us a estimate for our gate. Really simple just duplicate what we had. He measured and said the price would be such amount. We gave him our debit card # while we were here and did not hear from them. The fellow that came claims our card did not work. Never called us back. We called them. I immediately called our bank as I had called them the day prior to make sure it would authorize as they have limits for what can go through. The bank said no issue. I explained what happened to our bank and the employee at the bank looked at it and said the fellow had put the wrong expiration date in. To be on the safe side we put it on our AMEX card. We were told it would be done on this date. They called the day of installation and said they were running behind and could not do it and would Friday be ok. No worries! They came today and the installers had some issues and the talked with my husband and I and said we would owe over 1000 more as it was not measured properly????? It was measured x2 as my husband watched the fellow do it. We had to ask for our deposit back. The installers who came even said that it was NOT very professional on their end. We said to them we don't blame you we were upset at the fencing co. They did call and try to back peddle. Why did you quote us a price and then raise it saying you didn't measure right when you were here and measured x2? We were hoping to have it on today so we could continue with our projects but now we have to find another fence guy. read more

The patio cover built by Rick's Custom Fencing is exactly what I wanted. We customized the size to my home and backyard for a perfect fit. It protects my home from the weather and provides a nice barrier. The dogs paws are cleaner than they were before the patio cover which saves me a lot of work every time they go out. When purchasing the materials for my fence project the salesperson told me about the half price cedar fence boards as an option. I needed 200 usable boards and the was told that I would need to order an extra 10% in order to get that number. I wanted to be sure I could get enough boards, so I ordered 250. After removing the boards which were so bad, they would either fall apart in a few weeks of NW weather or were so ugly I won't put them in an alley I ended up with 190 boards. And that was stretching into the range of pretty bad looking boards. Be warned, trying to save money could cost you a lot of effort and time. Now what do I do with 60 pieces of kindling wood and no fireplace? I made my purchase on Friday and scheduled to pick up the boards the next Tuesday. Since there was a large amount of rain forecast for the weekend, I was promised that my order would be banded and covered until I arrived. This did not happen. My order was pulled from a pile of boards that were dripping wet. Now I will have to air dry the boards for a long time before I can apply my oil-based stain. Don't believe everything you are told. read more
