Literally a criminal company. Both guys - Steve and his plumber-turned-PC "expert" employee, Ernie - steal parts from old equipment, stick it in something "new", and charge full price. Of course, they don't tell their customers about this. Ernie "misplaced" my Lenovo hard drive with more than $10,000 of work and insisted that the Dell HD he gave me back with his other customer's data was mine. I wrote to Steve (the owner) about this and no response. Seeing others' comments about him, this now comes as no surprise. He and Ernie are without integrity and care nothing for customers. Promises in the dark dept: they take your money right away, and tell you the repair will be done in just a couple of days. When you call them a week later, they say 'yeah it's done we called you and left messages" and your phone log doesn't even show the call,much less any voicemails. Avoid at all costs. The owner deletes negative feedback regardless, and Yelp and Facebook seem to be allowing it. I have worked in technology for the past five years, and when a family member told me that their Custom Gaming computer purchased at Affordable Computer was crashing constantly, I offered to take a look. I was shocked to see that all of the parts in the computer, except the graphics card, were recycled from a Best Buy computer sold three years ago. They paid $1200 for a "custom built gaming computer" with NEW parts, not something that was already several years old. It was pretty easy to see that this was the reason this computer was crashing every time it loaded the game. When confronted with all of this, the owner Steve staged a shouting match both in his store and on the phone. He called me, my mother-in-law, and brother-in-law every insult in the book, some of which I haven't heard in ten years. Jack***. Yahoo. Kid. Buddy. Liar. Jerk. When asked about the specific issues, trying to move past this in favor of any kind of solution, he got even more aggressive and defensive, frequently changing the subject by hurling insults at one of us. He claimed that we were either harassing him or, or "trying to part the computer". He also claimed it is not their fault, as they do not know anything about gaming computers or the game he is playing. Their ad on Facebook a week ago is centered around gaming computers. He also asked if my brother-in-law was jealous that his other friends had a better gaming computer. Which, I'm not sure how that makes sense. They built the computer. Are they insulting themselves? To cap it off, Steve threatened to punch me in the face. In person. At that point, we had to leave and accept our loss because I was pretty sure he was ready to do it. You can't make this stuff up. This is, by a landslide, the worst experience I've had with any business. Sad to see so many people continue to be scammed by this company - this is not the first person I know that has had issues. Hoping the Better Business Bureau will soon step in, or Yelp will allow users to actually review the companies they've had negative experiences with. EDIT: I'm going to put the technical details of what was wrong with this computer below, since Yelp has let this live for now: First, without opening the computer at all, we were able to get the make and model of the motherboard via a simple command prompt line. If you're curious, the brand is Asus M51BC. After searching it online, we found that this particular motherboard had only been used in one computer - a store tower model that has been sold since 2013. Specifically, this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883220445). We thought this was strange, considering the owner had promised to order every individual part and custom tailor the computer to his gaming needs. So we did more digging. Device Manager gave us the name of the hard drive, which after searching online, found out returned us the same $400 computer from Newegg. We then checked the RAM through System Properties, and found out that while the 8GB stick was from the same stock computer, he nonsensically must have put in another 4GB, from a completely different company, in the same computer. Mind you, there are not many ways I know of to test the compatibility of a stock computer vs another stock computer. Many of the sites that do this do not even list the parts associated with this build. So I'm not sure how / if he did that, but the point is moot. 12GB of RAM is not enough to handle most modern games, let alone 8 and a possibly not compatible 4. After that, we checked the processor through command prompt, and found that it ALSO came from the same stock computer (AMD FX-8300). In fact, the only part that did not come from the stock computer mentioned above, was the rogue 4GB of RAM and a graphics card from a completely different stock computer that may or may not be completely compatible. Regardless of any of this, none of these parts, if they were brand spankin new and not three years old (and probably used), would be worth the amount of money we paid. After all of this, we opened up the computer case (which was cracked, by the way) and found that all of the serial numbers matched what we had already known. To make it worse; the hard drive has a big fat '2012' etching on the info. That was the first piece of hardware to fail. If there's any questions on that, let me know. STAY AWAY These guys do nothing but lie. Had my laptop for 2 weeks and did nothing to fix it. Every time I call to an update they suggested that it would be quicker if I just bought something from them and they would give me credit for my PC and the money they already charged me. Not too happy with these guys- first, they were closed THREE times when they should have be opened. Note, this is NOT hurricane related closures, they were no signs on the door, and one of these times, I had called the day before to confirm. I WARN YOU NOW-AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! Took my brand new laptop there to get he keyboard fixed because a toddler had ripped off most of the keys. It took 2 weeks when they said a few days. Then a few days later, I went to play a game I noticed it wasn't performing well. My friend opened it up and told me that a stick of DDR3 ram was missing. The owner cursed me out and said his employees in no way would steal this. So I guess someone instead of stealing my laptop from my house, they just stole RAM??? Completely unprofessional and unreliable. Bought a "custom" built computer in 2015 that was made from old stock parts from 2012. The computer constantly crashes, but the owner refuses to accept any responsibility or to investigate. He is rude and condescending, putting all the blame on the customer. This place is pretty awful. We took an older computer there to be repaired and had asked that if the repairs were too much $$, not to do them because it might not be worth fixing. They called us about 3 weeks after we brought it in and told us it was ready. The bill? Almost $400. And the computer was still as slow as a snail. Never again. read more

I have never in my life witnessed a more poorly run business than this one. After asking for a "custom gaming computer", I was left with a refurbished ASUS. A Frankenstein computer. This computer had a hard drive from 2012, RAM from two manufacturers (One stock computer, other from another computer), and parts straight from the manufacturer. There was NOT one new part in this computer. After presenting them the computer, they asked me where my receipt is. Well, considering this was months after the computer was built, I no longer had the receipt. They told me they would look for the receipt but of course, never found it. After continual PC crashes (to which they deny never existed), we went back to the store. Steve, the owner of the store, is by far the worst owner I've ever encountered. His customer service skills include: yelling and shouting at your mother, threatening to punch your friend, yelling that you don't have your own receipt, yelling that you're just trying to "part the computer for cash", calling you a "kid", and getting caught in his lies. Moral of the story, I wanted a gaming computer and I got a computer that crashes constantly. After constant crashes, I opened the computer up and found that it wasn't custom at all. These guys are crooks and SHOULD NOT be trusted. They will lie, they will twist their words, and they will steal your money in the end. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I bought a computer here after the Sandy storm.The front panel was broken. I had the senior technician, Ernie, look at it. He gave me the run around as he would did not want to pay for a new part from the manufacturer.After going down to see him three times and five phone calls, there he took a side panel from one of his other computers . While I was there, there were also two other customers who had to return their computers to Ernie complaining that the repair work he did was " not satisfactory".The panel was put on only after I told Ernie that I was going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Also, when I went back to have the" used pane"l put on, Ernie told me to come back in an hour. I did as he requested. I came back and nothing was done on my computer.He also took three other customers before me. I would not recommend that anyone buy a new computer from this place or even get any repair work done by Ernie. He also sells the computers there.The products and service are very poor. read more
