This woman has taken so much money from my poor mom just to max out her insurance for the year and treats her poorly when my mom refused the filings due to payment issues then staff went back to tell the dentist and my mom overheard her saying "oh she has plenty" as in money and decided to tell my mom to forget the payment and will do the fillings but billed the insurance $700 for 6 fillings my mom most likely DID NOT need afterwards. She was so rough on my poor mom now her mouth has been hurting since then and even hurts when she swallows. My mom is too kind and was taken advantage of and neither her or any of my loved ones will no longer be coming to this terrible horrendous establishment. She is money hungry and could care less about her patients. STAY AWAY. read more

I was supposed to get two cleanings annually covered by insurance but she always added extras that I don't believe I needed. I never received one free insurance covered cleaning. She always added unnecessary extras. She also recommended me for what I believe was an unnecessary surgery. You can do better elsewhere. read more

After watching his business grow from one chair out of the International District and into a shiny place in Belltown - featuring eight bays with at least three hygenists plus front desk operation, service levels eventually changed in the wrong direction. I let alot of things slide over last few years. I'm happy for his success, but it was made way at expense of MY teeth. Enter Affinity Dental and Dr. Sales-Mercado. She got my dental program back on track, quickly. Three appointments in rapid fire succession with another one coming up for last of minor cosmetic enhancements. We where lucky, we found Dr.Sheila Sales. We came in the office, and a nice lady welcomed us. In a very short time, a kind nurse came, and took me to a room for an xray. What a waist of my time, they completely misled me. I am traveling so I just needed my teeth cleaned, I have a primary dentist at home. Called to make an appointment for teeth cleaning only, clearly explained my situation and needs; no X-rays just cleaning. No problem they said and scheduled my appointment. Got there early for my appointment to fill out paperwork, again I explained cleaning only, no sense in waisting my money, again I was told no problem. After them being 30 mins late for my appointment I was told they have a policy to take x-rays, I explained I have a dentist at home, I am good just need the cleaning we discussed. They completely disregarded my requests, completely wasted my time. They have no regard for they're customers needs. I had appointment for basic cleaning with 0 at 9a, I got here early about 850a.. So the 2 patients that came in, they took them in first plus the receptionist did not have my paperwork ready...for one thing that wasn't right. Eva did not have any paperwork ready and I had a appointment at 9a. Didn't make any sense. Eva said that i had a $50 cancellation and that I needed pay up front plus she added to this I will need a co pay for periodontist cleaning which I only had basic cleaning that is only no payment. So we came to Palm Springs for one night with my wife's family and 30 min in my wife's tooth fell out. We called this place and they made room for us to come in so we can sort we tooth out. Very nice place we were in and out in no time. Very friendly staff. Wish we had this dentist back in LA. Definitely would recommend this place. We yelped it and decided to come. The first place we called wouldn't take us because they were too busy so it was nice to know that this place took us in knowing we are on vacation and needed to see a dentist ASAP. read more

First off I want to tell you that I use yelp all the time when I need to search for restaurants and services for me an my husband. I can't help but notice the comments regarding Dr. Sales. It is not true what they are saying. She is very helpful, knowledgable, honest and thorough. The best dentist I've gone to. I don't understand how she can give people false diagnosis if dental insurances does not pay the dentists on their work unless they send copies of xrays and proof that work or treatments are needed to be done. I am a Canadian who winters in Palm Springs. I have my primary Dentist in Edmonton Alberta and really just needed a physician for the occasional check up or cleaning during the winter months. One visit to Dr. Sales and I was blown away. She really did go above and beyond her call. She took her time, gave me a thorough checkup and explained everything she was doing. I have an obsession when it comes to oral hygiene and upkeep and thought I would never ever leave my Dentist in Edmonton. Dr. Sales changed that and she is now my primary oral physician and I will go to her for all my future dental work. Are you serious? I just moved to town and needed a tooth cleaning and I went to her office because it was close by. I haven't had a cavity since I was 13 y.o. (I'm over 50 now) and she took X-rays and told me I had 13 cavities!!!! My friend also went for an appt. the same day and she told her she had 11 cavities!!!! I'm not kidding! We got out of there ASAP instead of making apps to begin the process of getting them all filled like this dentist wanted us to. I've been coming to this dentist for a few years now, and I've never had a bad experience here. I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to going to the dentist (who isn't, right?), so what stands out to me the most is how gentle Dr. Sales is. First of all, I thought Dr Sales herself was very qualified, and seemed competent.Her staff however, need to improve. The dental assistants had a very hard time doing my x-rays- I have a small mouth- but no one at other offices seemed to have a problem! They had to re-do most of them like 4 times!!!!! Meanwhile I'm getting saturated in radiation. I mean I know it's low dose but still! Then they said I had to get a medical release form from my Dr. (I had heart surgery a few months ago) but they never sent it. Also, they forgot to have me sign it so I had to go out of my way to come back in and sign the form- that they never sent. Every time I called there would always be some excuse- "the Doctor is out of town", "I'm not the right person to talk to, she's back next week" "Let me get back to you". I don't know if it's because I'm a Denti-Cal patient or what, but they pretty much are making it impossible for me to have an appointment with the Dr. I had my appointment June 1. It's now almost July. I would never use my real name on Yelp but I would not make this up, nor am I trying to undermine Dr Sales, it's just that it would be better if the staff were more competent, and upfront.
