The care is fine don't get me wrong ... I am an almost 10-year veteran patient who decided to seek treatment elsewhere.... The gist of it revolves around the administrative staff where no one seems to know what the other is doing with regard to insurance filings. Last year I requested to have 3-4 cleanings a year. An office staff person (albeit now retired) worked it all through with my dental insurance. I was approved. Today, the day before my 3rd cleaning of the calendar year, I received a disturbing text from Dr Chang's office saying my copay would be $70 tomorrow. I called then and was told that "per my Delta Dental I was only allowed 2 cleanings per year". My husband (with whom I have my insurance through his employer) gets 4 cleanings per year and I was told last year that I was approved. I was told again that they see no pre-authorization in the system for anything beyond two and that they have no office documentation showing the approval gained last year. The office manager informed me she would double check on the cleanings. In the meantime I called Delta Dental and got confirmation that indeed, due to my periodontal health, I was approved for up to 4 cleanings per year. I again spoke to the office manager who said she saw no pre-authorization in the system but I gave her the name of the DD rep with whom I spoke. DD informed me that it was clear on their online system that my 4 cleanings were okay and that there was no pre-authorization needed. The manager said I could come in and they would submit the cleaning for coverage but if not paid they would charge me $70. I have the money, however my husband had several unrelated recent incidents in the past month also with Dr Chang's office and he sought a new dentist and left his practice ..... I am leaving also. I don't need to be put in the position of checking the work of dental office staff regarding insurance coverage. I need to take care of myself. So Dr. Chang lost 2 patients in the past month. read more

Upon filling out a request for contact on their site, I was contacted by Mindy in his office who proceeded to ask if I had insurance which of course I do. She then said rather dismissively that the Dr. isn't taking on new patience with insurance; only cash. I am in need of extensive work which will go far beyond what insurance will cover and have the money to pay; instead of listening and understanding my situation and then explaining hers, I was assessed as someone with "insurance" who is unable to pay presumably. The staff was very personable, attentive and helpful in scheduling my appointment and very accommodating when considering my time constraints. Dr. Chang and his entire staff are the best. I am a new patient, recently relocated to Palm Springs from New York City. I have encountered many, many dentists in my life. I can say without hesitation that he is one of the best. I had my initial consultation, and they provided me with an incredibly detailed plan, including costs, and insurance reimbursements. It was remarkably thorough. His costs are fair and competitive. But more than that, he is almost an artist at what he does. The chipped front tooth and cavity that were within it were completely redone, and he repaired my front tooth to better than it was before. I have two more appointments, and I look forward to it. There was not one ounce of pain, and he checked in several times during the session to make sure that I was okay. The staff is incredibly friendly, accommodating, and a credit to his office. This office is wonderful and I can't recommend Dr.Chang enough! Prior to today, I had a bill that my insurance was giving them difficulty with. I think most offices would have just told me to pay the bill. Not Dr. Chang. Their billing person went back and forth with my insurance for MONTHS and never so much as complained to me about it! Insurance finally paid. Today (Christmas week of course) we called with a bit of an emergency. Husband in pain. We are going out of town and HAD to get in today. After asking a few questions, the receptionist had Dr. Chang speak to my husband in person to see what the story was (yes...you heard me.....in PERSON), and then they got him in this afternoon. The tooth? My husband's fault for neglecting to follow the doctor's advice LAST YEAR (grrr). Dr. Chang only growled at him a little (should have been more) but took great care of him and I can't thank him enough. I had my teeth cleaned there during COVID and they were so careful to keep all the aerosols from flying everywhere. Normally stuff lands on your glasses, etc., but not this time. I felt really safe and knew they were doing a great job mitigating risk for all involved. I found Dr Chang on Yelp...thru my fellow Yelpers and they were right. I was traveling here in PS and unfortunately chipped a tooth. I called his office after finding the information on Yelp and was able to make an appointment. They took all my details over the phone including insurance information. I arrived for my appointment and not only were they able to stabilize the chipped tooth, but they were able to actually go ahead and fix it at the same time. Dr. Chang and his assistant were fantastic and the process was quick and simple. He described what he was going to do to the tooth in advance, making me feel comfortable. He constantly asked me how I was doing. Tooth fixed, insurance paid for most and discounted my portion. Kudos to Dr. Chang. read more

This office is fantastic. Everyone who works here is thoughtful, kind, and taking precautions during Covid. Everyone was wearing at least 2 masks and a face shield. You wear a mask up until the exam or cleaning, there is hand sanitizer everywhere, and the waiting room is large enough that you can social distance if there is another patient waiting (they also have seats marked to help you social distance). Dr Chang is wonderful and knowledgable. I move a lot and have seen 5 dentists in 5 years in LA, NYC, and SF - he's hands down the best. Best dentist in the Valley! I am a retired physician and am particular about my care. Dr. Chang establish a personal plan for me. I have never been disappointed. My teeth are in the best shape of my life. Should you need more extensive work like a root canal or dental implant he refers you to the best specialists in the area. I can't thank Andrea at Dr. Chang's office enough for taking care of me in such a safe and timely manner especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She completely met all my needs when I had a tooth break on me so unexpectedly. It made my mouth feel so uncomfortable, a sharp edge that was cutting my tongue. I really Needed help and didn't have a dentist here in the desert since I moved from the east coast. I work with Andrea's son and he sent me the number to the office. She got me in the next day. Nice well-appointed office, friendliest staff (they made a point of welcoming me as it was my first visit), super professional and the best hygienist ever. My first time at Dr. Chang's office. I broke a filling. Calling the office for the appointment and giving/getting basic information was so easy and pleasant. They also called me later that day because they had a cancellation and offered I come in the following day. The office area is clean, comfortable and the staff great. During my visit everyone was careful to follow all the necessary precautions due to the coronavirus. I felt safe and relaxed (which is NOT how I handle dentists!). Dr. Chang was easy to work with.
