Complete racket. Went to their offices for emergency dental. Paid my fee. They prescribed antibiotics and ibuprofen and then NEVER CALLED THE PRESCRIPTIONS IN. Called twice before end of business hours to check that they were being sent and was told it would be there in a couple of hours. Pharmacy confirmed they received nothing. Now they are closed until Monday. I did what I needed to do - took day off work - went to doc - paid my fee. And I am in worse pain now because they did not do their job. After I arrived and paid the quoted amount, I was told before the extraction that I had to pay more - which doubled the price I initially was told I had to pay. I may be a 66 year old, getting by with Social Security, but my faculties are sharp enough to know when I'm being scammed. I wouldn't have come to their business if I was told the FULL price I had to pay. Me and my wife recently moved back to the area, because the cost of living where we were did not equal the meager wages we earned, and I was forced to turn to Social Security in order to survive. We don't have permanent housing, and are living with what we can to get by. In conclusion, I cannot recommend Afdent Dental, due to the shady methodology that enticed me to fall into a further negative financial standing. If they had been more forthcoming with the financial requirements, it could have been a more positive experience - one that could have benefited both parties. This place is a factory and do not care about establishing good patient relationships. I was told i needed a crown - had it done and immediately afterwards pain was not gone. Follow up visit I was told that i now needed a root canal. While disappointed I understand these things can happen. Dentist told me good news is most of the work is already done. So you think I would get a discounted rate for the root canal right? Wrong - full price. Was told it does not matter that most of the work is already done. This is my second review because I plan to write one after each of my appointments .... I am having my remaining teeth pulled and bran new dentures, I am sooo happy that I choose Afdent because I am still amazed that I am so impressed with EVERY aspect of their operation ... the cleanliness of every rug, office, employee uniform, every technician... their knowledge on every aspect of my "plan" ... yesterday was called "Wax Try In" ... they had beautiful uppers for my try "In" and they want to make some adjustments and they were very thorough... I am looking at an investment that I will be using for the rest of my life ... for the comfort and appearance... I am so amazed that they were so, critical of every measurement ... my Dad was a tool and die maker and I would not have been surprised if I saw them pull out calipers to double check their measurements! I'll be 88 this June and the older I get, the more quality conscious I am, almost to the tune of overkill. I took a couple of pictures but I will have to post them tonight because I have ran out of time now And it's important that I post all of the details, because I just happened to get the top of dentistry knowledge with Afdent And absolute perfection in patient care. They have held on to a $300 overpayment for four years. I received a letter a few weeks ago the money was going to be turn over to the state if I didn't fill out and mail in this form. When I called they said they couldn't put it in over the phone. It seems like someone would be actively working credit balances and this money would be promptly returned to patients. The money is not theirs. This is the second time I've had an overpayment sit for years with no refund. I hope I can get my money back. read more

Afdent is known for guaranteeing their dental and this time it shouldn't be any different. Please, I need your help to get the crown corrected. I was very pleased with my treatment. The hygienist was upbeat and friendly, and concerned herself with my comfort. She was also efficient, and did an excellent job in much less time than most. The dentist was courteous and got through the exam without wasting time. Both staff answered all my questions to my satisfaction. The down side is that I found out that a previous overpayment (from 6 mos. ago) was not promptly returned to me, but was kept by Afdent to be used as a credit against future debt. I'm pretty sure that it is not legal for Afdent to make a decision about MY money, without my input. The last I knew, any funds kept on deposit were supposed to be kept in an interest-bearing account, which was not done. Instead, I just lost the interest I would have earned, admittedly a small amount...but it was mine, not Afdent's, interest, which they earned from my money and kept. read more

They string you out time wise for a final set but put it off until your year is up then they charge you $900 more for the set...not very knowledgeable about certain products like cushion grip etc. My original set were to small and my lips all but disappeared ...finally got sick of the excuses and upcharges. read more

After 11 months of having horrible dentures from Afdent they are finally making it right! They are remaking them and getting my feedback before they are final. They are promising that I will love the new ones. I am very grateful as I paid over $6000 for my original set. Made an appointment for 330 got there at 3:15 at 4:10 I left because clearly my time is not important I cannot understand why you would make an appointment and then let me sit there for over 45 minutes- messy messy messy- totally unprofessional and just plain rude. Never again. Called me at 4:19 to ask me where i was for my appt- i told them i left since my time isn't important isnt them. Im beyond disappointed and disgusted in them. **** replying to the owners reply- the appt was at 3:30- hence why i showed up at 3:15 to do any paperwork necessary- i received no emails- no texts- no phone calls about the upcoming appointment. I didnt schedule the appointment, your office did. IF someone would have said something about the time of the appointment at any point we could have done business BUT nothing was said. Do not use them if you are special needs. They don't have patience and are insensitive to the needs of a handicapped adult. Treated rudely and sent away untreated. The patient was in extreme pain and needed treatment immediately. Scheduling a harder case right before closing time is bad management. read more

I did not have an appointment but was told I could walk in I had a tooth infected and my lower left side was swollen I checked in at 11:20 and was left to sit my car for three hours I have to feel they could have told me they did not want to deal with me I had mistakenly made an appointment elsewhere but canceled to stay here but my time mean nothing to them. read more

My experience Afdent was awful! It was traumatic to say the least. I had several procedures done and never saw the same dentist twice. I met the dentist for the first time as he was extracting three teeth. He failed to successfully numb my gums before the extractions and it was very, very painful. He never even bothered to introduce himself. My options were not completely explained, there was little to no consultative services and no follow through. Afdent is in the business of making money. The patient is not a priority. Do yourself a favor and look for another provider. read more

I wanted a certain person to work on my teeth not someone with only 10 months of experience. I delt with it and went on with the cleaning. The gal was really nice and nervous she poked my gums about 4 times. I was calm cause I understood. My anger came with her coworker came in and asked how much longer. I knew this may have upset the lady cleaning my teeth. the other lady wanted a Spanish translator right now. The lady cleaning my teeth said give me a couple of minutes she was almost done. her coworker came back in demanding to know how much longer cause the GIS or whatever she said had to be rescheduled cause of ..... it's when I got angry took the laughing gas nose off me and said I'm done and looked at my cleaner lady and said sounds like your coworker needs you to go translate some Spanish. I wasn't angry at the lady cleaning my teeth, but her coworker that sounded like a person in a Mangement role demanding stuff in front of a patient. I can tell you what the guy needs to reschedule for! This is unacceptable behavior from anyone dealing with patients that it's what a hallway is for if two people to have a talk. I would have understood that a lot better unlike what happen. I have compassion for newer people because they are scared of maybe being fired, wrote up ext. what happens to the coworker that done this in my visit probably nothing. I wanted my normal person that had 5 years' experience for a reason. I guess I will be shopping around for a new dentist office! read more

The most disrespectful dentist office I have ever been to. Very inconsiderate of my experience under their care. I have nothing but negative stories: (1) More often than not, I have shown up on time for my appointments and I have to wait 20+ minutes. Business is business, I get it. But when I show up even remotely late I am told I "should have been here when scheduled," when regardless of what time I show up they are rarely ready for me. (2) When I was being fitted for new retainers last week, I was handed a pad for my digital signature. I said "What's this?" and she goes "$175 for the replacement retainer. I don't know why I didn't tell you before I gave it to you." Okay, odd you are asking me to sign something in order to pay without telling me I need to pay, but I can do that. Then she says "Are we replacing both retainers?" Yes. "Okay, $350 for today." I said "Uh, the $175 I can do but the $350 is too much, I can't f**king do that" (I use profanity in most of my dialect, I meant no ill intent) and (4) she proceeded to walk away as I'm speaking. (5) I had to pay $300+ OUT OF POCKET for (my THIRD SET of) retainers that they claim "should last a lifetime" (granted I misplaced my 3rd set and that is on me). (At this time in my life I am making $11/ hr- paying bills, gas for car, etc on top of this purchase.) So of course, I asked for a payment plan and a different kind of retainer (which I didn't even know they could do until recently). They didn't bother to ask me what color I wanted (and I know it will be in my mouth at night anyway but when I am paying my own money I should be receiving what I pay for because this put me in quite a financial pinch) and when I got new impressions today, I explained my situation to the dentist and she said, "Well no use in beating a dead horse, we're fixing it today". So I responded with "Yes, but I live half an hour away" and received silence from her. Later, she went on to say how normally they only do colored retainers for children and give gum-colored retainers for adults. So silly me for wanting glitter, right? (6) Generally, they are rough with my mouth and once it was too much to take so in response to the pain she caused I said "Son of a b*tch" to which she replied, "Excuse me?" Like damn, ma'am I am tired of being poked like cattle. (7) Only ONE dentist there treated me with true kindness and genuine respect, and that is just sad. Will be switching dentists after I get my new, rightfully colored retainer. (*Not to mention the one day when I was leaving an appointment, a fellow patient couldn't get in their lobby. We chatted. He said they scheduled his son for a 5:00pm appointment. They close at 5:00pm. Just an incredibly inconsiderate place to go for health care.) read more

Called for an emergency appointment to replace missing filling. I was told to bring $190 without any mention of the insurance. Then when I came in I told them I have insurance. After having the filling replaced I've learned that the actual cost was $490 in total, out of which I was supposed to pay... exactly $190, a weird coincidence! According to the claim submitted to my insurance company, patient payment should be $92.40. I tried to contact Afdent and ask for explanation, but my message was ignored. Feels like scam, I will not be returning. EDIT: after the review, I received a refund for the overpayment, which I appreciate. read more

I had the absolute worst experience I've ever had at a dentist in my life here. I am never going back to Afdent ever again. I had cavities under my existing fillings that needed to be replaced, so I went in the morning of July 26 to get it done. The guy who does my original numbing injection comes in and just injects an unnecessary amount of anesthetic into my gums, but does it so fast that the injection itself hurts. I think there were roughly 7 injections in 3 areas of my mouth. Whatever, I can deal with the poor bedside manner and injection pain, so we wait a bit and another guy comes in to do the actual drilling etc. Well, I wasn't numb, so I panic because it hurts after like 2 seconds of drilling. This second person does some more anesthetic (I think 2 more syringes on this section of my mouth) but doesn't wait, so when he tries a second time on a different tooth, I'm obviously still not numb. Then does another injection where I actually feel it numb the nerve - you know when it's like that electric shock thing? Great. So they let me sit for a bit, let it fully be numb this time. Drilling is done, my whole face is numb, but after the drilling, the hygienist is doing the filling part and they do layer by layer and then set it. Well, about halfway through the setting stuff, I start feeling some pain. So I alert her and tell her that the numbness is wearing off. She has yet another person come in and give me two more syringes of the anesthetic to boost it, then gets back to work. As she continues, I am starting to feel things again. When I alert her this time, she tells me there's a maximum amount of anesthetic they can give me, but she's almost done. So I just have to deal with the fact that I can feel her filing down my teeth and shaping them while my whole cheek up to my ear and my bottom lip are still numb because guy #1 numbed wrong part of my jawline/mouth. I'm so upset and traumatized. I never had a fear of the dentist before, but I sure do after that. We are almost two weeks out and I still can't eat normally because my jaw/mouth/teeth are still in an immense amount of pain, but I'm too scared to go back because I don't trust that it will be done properly. read more

I am not a regular patient to Afdent. I only went there to have my crown glued back on until I could get in to my regular dentist the following for my routine check up. I even informed them that is all I wanted. They insisted that I needed X-rays and to have the tooth checked for decay. Before I knew it they were getting the X-rays ready to go. I figured that was one less X-ray for my regular dentist to take. The X-rays miraculously showed I had 2 cavities on that tooth and the crown was no longer good. I knew they would try that as soon as I say in the chair. The hygienist repeated asked me how old it was. I told her 3 years several times. She must be deaf because she still kept asking. I looked at the X-rays and knew what the problem was as they told me lies. The hygienist even tried to scare me by telling me that if they glued the crown back on that it would have to be cut of. "Cut off. With a razor!" This same crown was popped off before when I had a nerve issue. After telling the hygienist I couldn't afford the crown at this time I pretended to cry so I could get her to shut up. She glued it back on and kept spraying it with cold water and air. She asked me if the tooth her and was irritated when I said "not at all". When I asked for a couple of the pictures and X-rays she told me to take a picture of the computer screen with my cell phone. As she walked me to the front desk she kept telling me that my tooth would still be decaying every moment until I had the tooth fixed. How nice a HIPPA violation as we walked past other patients! I called my regular dentist as soon as I got to my car. I was I formed that as of 6 months ago there were absolutely no signs of decay in my mouth and not to let Afdent touch my tooth. I knew that! The spots that the dentist and hygienist were trying to convince me was decay, was old yellowed resin that was used to glue my crown on before. Some resins start clear but aged and changes to a yellow color over time. I make jewelry with it and I could tell what was on my own tooth. Shame on your scam Afdent. read more

Plenty of appointments but when u want to get a minor adjustment or something small u have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment! Or come in as a walk-in. If you sign up for the payment plan its 20% interest plus a 50.00 monthly service fee on top of your payment added in each month. Its more than a loan shark. The girls there will just give you the run around and pass the buck nonsense. If you are overweight Dr. Pecina takes one look at you and declares you have sleep apnea. Then he tries to sell you a $3,000.00 rubber mouthguard without any testing whatsoever. You can get a mouthguard at Dicks or Dunhams for .99 cents. I thought in the beginning I had a really great doctor, and I trusted in what they said. But as time went on the mistakes started to pile up. Several times I went in for my appointment only to have to reschedule due to an error on the part of Afdent. Upon the advice of friends and family I seeked a second opinion that's when the horror started. I discovered that I had an unnecessary procedures performed, I.E. bone being grounded down that was not needed, as a matter of fact I was told by the other doctors that what they did if allowed the full procedure to be done that in the end it would of caused me more trouble. I would of had to have about $4,000 more work done to fix it.Which in there original bid they had already bidded the corrective surgery to which they would of caused. To end it all when I asked for my x-rays and records to show the other Doctors they stalled and or refused to provide them. So I turned all the information over to my insurance company and allowed them to handle this nightmare. I have since moved on to a new Doctor and I could not be happier.
