During Covid, it's been tough to feel motivated to do projects like this so having a scheduled time was great. The appointment itself was so fun and productive. Casi helped me decide what to keep based on how it fit, how often it was worn, and if it was classic vs. trendy. Before the appointment I thought I was pretty minimalist, but I got rid of about 5 trash bags worth of clothes and shoes! I sold some things online and donated the rest. Turner brought an excellent sense of organization and understanding of fashion that goes beyond trends. He created a cohesive wardrobe that augmented and completed the rest of my closet. When I started receiving the clothes I ordered, which Turner picked out, I instantly had so many ideas for new outfits. My closet became fun again, and with the lessons I learned from Turner's consultations and advice I became bolder to put things together with more direction and creativity. Turner has changed how I assess clothing I want to buy and how I put outfits together beyond the outfits that he compiled for me as part of his services. Also, the compliments from others usually go something like "Wow, I love your outfit! You hired a stylist?! I never thought you would need one." But I did, and I don't regret it!

If Yelp reviews could have titles, I'd call this one "The Life Changing Magic of Getting Dressed"…read moreand I give all the credit to Pam Etzin of An Eye For Detail. I'm a reluctant shopper. I don't mind spending money, but I do mind being assaulted by the presence of hundreds of items that I don't like and I don't want to buy. Shopping for clothing is particularly harrowing for me. The experience of "why shopping for womens' clothing sucks" is neatly summed up here: https://thecustomerblog.co.uk/2011/07/19/9-observations-on-the-retail-shopping-experience/ I'm also a lifelong unrepentant "tomboy". I'd much rather be galloping astride a tall Thoroughbred, donning my scuba gear or rummaging around an Army/Navy store than shopping for clothes or perusing fashion magazines. My style could probably be summarized as "paddock boots, jeans and a tank top". To make matters worse, I'm between sizes and had literally no idea how to dress this larger body, with an impending European vacation only weeks away. After a few failed shopping attempts I sent an SOS email to Pam, and it turned out to be the best investment I've made in myself in years. Within one week I went from staring blankly into my closet to being able to get dressed - looking great and hence feeling great! And it's such a relief not having to stress out about the upcoming vacation. That Pam loves her work is evident in her down-to-earth enthusiasm, boundless energy and insightful, productive shopping. She also has E.S.P. as while we were initially getting to know each other I was having trouble defining my "style" for reasons previously mentioned. Based on our conversation, her intuition and a few items of clothing I'd brought (we met at Lord and Taylors) she totally "got" what I was about. Then while I got situated in the (no judgement zone) fitting room, Pam went out on the floor, zipping through the racks - particularly the sale racks - and came back with armloads of clothes in my size and colors. Almost everything she picked was a hit. She also made suggestions for things I might have never considered but turned out to be great! Even though I was basically starting from scratch, she was very cognizant of budget - not only working with what limited items I had, but also making sure everything worked together - thus creating a wardrobe. I never knew shopping could be this much fun! Since I'm 30 lbs from my weight loss goal and don't want to spend a lot on clothes , our next trip was to TJMax. When I arrived, Pam had already "pre-shopped" and had loaded up a wagon. Once again, nearly everything was a home run! In short order, I walked out with two huge very affordable bags of beautiful clothes. This lady is worth her weight in gold. Being able to dress nicely despite being overweight makes a huge difference in self-esteem and confidence. Best of all, you don't have to be one of the 1% to work with Pam - she has an affordable tiered pricing structure and can work within anyone's budget. I went for a pricier package that includes a closet clean-out which hasn't happened yet, so I may have to edit this review. But I'm sure by the time Pam's done, my short-on-space NYC closet will be a Masterpiece.

She also wanted to feel more confident with her professional outfits and level up her wardrobe for date nights. Bryn works on a flat per-hour rate rather than requiring you to purchase a package. She came to our apartment for a closet edit, did a personal shopping trip at Club Monaco with my wife, and then came back to our apartment to help my wife create outfits and put together a lookbook for her. We were so impressed with Bryn's work that I decided to work with Bryn too. I gave Bryn an inspiration album of the style I was aspiring to embody and showed her my favorite clothing when she was here to help my wife. Bryn took me to Nordstrom and picked out a number of shirts, pants, shorts, blazers, and shoes for me to try on. She has an eye for unique pieces that have elicited compliments for my clients. I had some sizing issues with a couple of the clothes, so we ordered some for delivery, got a few pieces altered, and re-grouped over email (complimentary) to think about alternatives. My wife and I were both impressed with Bryn's sense of style, professionalism, and attitude. We highly recommend that you work with her.

Then Bryn created totally new looks with pieces I already owned, adding jewelry and shoes--it was so exciting, I just kept marveling and saying "I would have never thought of that!" Bryn took my wardrobe to a whole new level, while staying true to my individual style. She really, really gets fashion and fit and just has an amazing way of amping you up.
