Recently contacted Pam for a color consultation. (We had previously done a closet clean-out and two shopping trips 4 and 2 years ago). She provided detailed analysis and recommendations for color, but more importantly, suggestions for how I can refresh and spark up my look, making it easy. I took her recommendations, cleaned out my closet, picked up a few new items in beautiful colors and few new accessories. I no longer hide behind my clothes; I wear them with confidence thanks to Pam Etzin. I was that woman with far too many clothes yet nothing to wear. I had been quite slim until my 50's and I didn't know how to dress my postmenopausal body - the hourglass that suddenly had too much sand. It took me a while to reach out to Pam because I was embarrassed. Convinced I was going to lose the weight I began buying only bargain clothing. This went on for years leaving me with three closets, two dressers and six large containers filled with three different sized clothing. It was with trepidation that I reached out and lead Pam to my wardrobe. As I berated myself and my clothing, she was so caring and compassionate that within 10 minutes I felt like we were old friends. With the patience of a caregiver, she pulled garments out for me to try on. She pinched the back of my tops and sides of the pant legs and asked why I wore them so baggy. As she held everything taut and stood behind me in front of the mirror she said, "See how much thinner you look when you take away the bulk?" She culled through most of my clothes asking when I had worn them last. Suffice to say, the next week I had six large black plastic bags on the stoop to donate to the Veterans. But still, I had clothing that didn't make me feel good. My budget for a new wardrobe wasn't huge so besides helping me shop, Pam suggested I find a local tailor to alter some tops and wide leg slacks. Next she surveyed my accessories and matched them to some of my pieces and voilà they looked nice! She showed me possibilities with things I already owned and then took me shopping for new pieces. One thing that seemed fairly insignificant at the time but has stuck with me as great advice through the years is to know what size and shape earrings look best on me and what length necklace is most flattering. Pam is a true expert. Every person both men and women should spend a few hours at least working with Pam. She has so much knowledge and quick little tips that makes it a pleasure to work with her. I love that she is a wardrobe stylist who listens and actually heard me. It was wonderful to work with Pam because she made me feel comfortable and took me out of my typical comfort zone just enough to help me to realize that I have my own style but I could bring it up a couple of levels by making some minor adjustments. Pam is amazing. What a connection we had. She knew I didn't like something before I could say it. I have been hanging on to shoes, bags and clothing for years and it felt great to let them go. I have also recently lost 50 pounds so I've bought too much stuff just because it fit. Unfortunately, many pieces did nothing for me. If Yelp reviews could have titles, I'd call this one "The Life Changing Magic of Getting Dressed" and I give all the credit to Pam Etzin of An Eye For Detail. I'm a reluctant shopper. I don't mind spending money, but I do mind being assaulted by the presence of hundreds of items that I don't like and I don't want to buy. Shopping for clothing is particularly harrowing for me. I'd much rather be galloping astride a tall Thoroughbred, donning my scuba gear or rummaging around an Army/Navy store than shopping for clothes or perusing fashion magazines. My style could probably be summarized as "paddock boots, jeans and a tank top". To make matters worse, I'm between sizes and had literally no idea how to dress this larger body, with an impending European vacation only weeks away. After a few failed shopping attempts I sent an SOS email to Pam, and it turned out to be the best investment I've made in myself in years. Within one week I went from staring blankly into my closet to being able to get dressed - looking great and hence feeling great! And it's such a relief not having to stress out about the upcoming vacation. That Pam loves her work is evident in her down-to-earth enthusiasm, boundless energy and insightful, productive shopping. She also has E.S.P. as while we were initially getting to know each other I was having trouble defining my "style" for reasons previously mentioned. Based on our conversation, her intuition and a few items of clothing I'd brought (we met at Lord and Taylors) she totally "got" what I was about. Then while I got situated in the (no judgement zone) fitting room, Pam went out on the floor, zipping through the racks - particularly the sale racks - and came back with armloads of clothes in my size and colors. Almost everything she picked was a hit. She also made suggestions for things I might have never considered but turned out to be great! Even though I was basically starting from scratch, she was very cognizant of budget - not only working with what limited items I had, but also making sure everything worked together - thus creating a wardrobe. I never knew shopping could be this much fun! Since I'm 30 lbs from my weight loss goal and don't want to spend a lot on clothes , our next trip was to TJMax. When I arrived, Pam had already "pre-shopped" and had loaded up a wagon. Once again, nearly everything was a home run! In short order, I walked out with two huge very affordable bags of beautiful clothes. This lady is worth her weight in gold. Being able to dress nicely despite being overweight makes a huge difference in self-esteem and confidence. Best of all, you don't have to be one of the 1% to work with Pam - she has an affordable tiered pricing structure and can work within anyone's budget. I went for a pricier package that includes a closet clean-out which hasn't happened yet, so I may have to edit this review. My closets look amazing! Pam Etzin and I spent four hours yesterday plowing through not just my main bedroom closet but my two overflow closets full of clothes for other seasons and things I haven't worn in years but couldn't part with. Five compactor-size bags later, my go-to pieces for work and play are no longer hidden among things I never wear. What's more, I tried on some of my work clothes and Pam gave me great advice on my best (vs. not-so-good) looks and did it all with humor. It is easy to get distracted but Pam kept me focused and we accomplished more than I could have imagined. Never in a million years would I have thought about hiring a personal stylist. I work from home, and have a very casual lifestyle. I have the obligatory dress to wear to a wedding, and a few dressier dinner outfits. But not a wardrobe. And no outfits that I love to wear for business events. Actually, I hate all of my so-called "business clothes". And I usually shop online because I find it difficult and overwhelming to find flattering clothes. I have a business event coming up and will be "on display" as it were - a great opportunity to be seen. Big problem - I didn't want to be "seen" in any of my outfits. That has all changed! First and foremost, I must state that I HATE clothes shopping!!! All aspects make me cringe including the hunt, trying on outfits, paying too much then especially going home and discovering that I have nothing that matches my new acquisitions so I am forced to either return everything or shop more. Generally, I buy outfits that are on mannequins since I know that they'll match. Reluctantly, I decided to give shopping with Pam a try. Not only did she listen to my concerns but she worked within my budget, ensured that I had several mix & match outfits and actually made shopping fun! I don't know if it was her love of people or her passion for clothes that was positively contagious. I had an absolute ball shopping with her, upgrading my wardrobe and will definitely have her help me to shop again. Pam Etzin is the best!! She helped me organize my closet and help me get rid of clothes and shoes that I haven't worn for years. Don't know why this review is being shown with my husband's name- just know it's coming from a woman's perspective. Loved my closet clean out and shopping trip with Pam. I hate shopping- I'm often between sizes and get frustrated with what feels like a waste of time going from store to store and not finding anything like I like that fits me and is reasonably priced. I have a more casual style, but I need a pulled together look since I work in a professional environment and am often meeting with clients. Due to my frustration with shopping, I had a lot of older clothes that I didn't want to toss if they had useful life in them, but didn't have the eye to see if the styles were too dated. This was one of my favorite aspects of working with Pam. I tried on each piece of clothing and with a stylish unbiased eye Pam helped me sort my clothes into keep, get altered, donate or toss. Then we went shopping to find some basics and stylish elements to round out my wardrobe. Pam helped me identify stores that have clothes that fit me and now they are my "go to" places. I hired Pam because I always felt I needed help when it comes to buying new clothes, cleaning out my closet and getting rid of old clothes that I didn't wear anymore. Pam is such a nice professional and the day she came over my house I must confess I was scared at first but she helped me to get rid of the clothes I didn't like and wasn't going to wear anymore. I was impressed with how organized my closet became. She also cleaned out my jewelry collection, it is very organized now and I only kept things I will use. The next day my mom and I met Pam at the mall and when we got there Pam had already left many outfits for me in the fitting room. She was very honest and told me what she thought looked good on me and what didn't. She knows what I like and my style so that made me trust her professional knowledge.
