I picked up a 2013 used Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX with low miles and at a great deal from a private party. Turned out it had an existing electrical problem that would discharge the battery to a low voltage within about 75 -100 miles of driving. It was still under warrenty so I took it to AF1. I dealt mainly with Brent, and he was wonderful to a new customer who had purchased the bike second hand. I sold BMW bikes for a year so know the business and I'm a pretty good bike mechanic. I confess to being kind of a BMW fan having owned around 20 of them but always having wanted to try an Italian bike. While I really enjoyed riding the Stelvio, I had multiple issues with mine. My bike literally went to AF1 about every month for the first 5 months I owned it for some warranty issue. Maybe I just got a lemon, but several things seemed to be design mistakes. Brent was proactive in fixing some of these things before I got stuck 500 miles from home, which I really appreciated. Also AF1 finally replaced the entire clutch assembly as it squeaked loudly when first taking off. I'm sure they had to do some negotiation with Guzzi to get it approved. The bike had that issue from the start, and I rode it 10K miles in the hope it would resolve itself, but it did not. Brent did that repair himself as it's a multi day project, and he is a masterful mechanic, that I'd trust with anything I own. They preordered the parts, told me when to drop it off and gave me a new Aprilia Caponord to ride for a loaner bike (which I actually loved). I have the highest respect for AF1, and would be comfortable buying from them anytime. I've kind of lost it with Moto Guzzi's reliability though, even though the bike was sure fun to ride. That said, mine may have been a lemon and others may have a totally different experience with Guzzi and the Stelvios. read more

Customer service at its finest. I bought my kid an Aprilia last year. I had researched prices and quality thoroughly so when Thovas quoted me the price on it, I knew I was getting a good deal. Plus, he threw in a really cute helmet. But that was only the beginning. I have called the crew over at AF1 many times with my scooter related questions and they always cheerfully give me good information. I needed to know what it takes to ship it to New Orleans. They hooked me up with contacts. Later, when it had a starter problem due to the rainy climate, they helped me with the warranty stuff. I felt like they were my allies when the scooter shop down in Louisiana tried to jack me around. They gave me the info I needed to speak with authority to the Jerks down there. We finally got the scoot back here. We called AF1 to fix it correctly and they were here to pick it up THAT SAME afternoon. Fixed in less than a week, $100. They told me the rude dumbass in La. had put it back together wrong. WTF? (Gee, more reasons to hate New Orleans?) Highly recommend AF1. Scoot on over. read more

I made one trip to Austin, signed a few documents, got a tour of the fabulous AF1 Racing facility and left with a big smile on my face. The first time I walked by, they weren't even open for the day yet but Thovas welcomed me in, showed me around, and answered my questions with zero pressure and nothing but helpfulness, honesty and accurate info. Today, two months later, I went back and bought a Moto Guzzi from him that was there on consignment. It went smoothly and I feel like I got a really good deal. To top it off, they even took me in the back with the bike afterward and Brent got every aspect of the bike set just right for me, from the suspension, to the clutch, to even heat-gunning the warning stickers off the tank for me. I just got my Aprilia back from AF1 Racing and could not be happier given the circumstances of what happened. In March at COTA a defective oil filter blew off on the main straight at full throttle and max RPM killing the bottom end of the bike. Immediately I called AF1 and they started to take care of me. When I arrived the manager and the tech helped me unload and took it into the back for better or worse. They kept telling me thank God you are safe and reminding me the big picture was I did not get hurt. It really shows the heart of the staff of AF1. Within the same day I had a diagnosis which was not good but nonetheless the information provided to me was accurate and easy to understand. In addition I was advised to file a claim with the oil filter manufacturer by COTA and AF1. I proceeded to do this and AF1 took pictures and captured all the evidence needed for the claim. The oil filter manufacturer is going to cover 100% of the rebuild cost and it would not be possible without AF1 making sure all the proper information was collected and provided. We proceeded with a tear/down and rebuild when it was torn down Brent Davidson called me in to see and show me what was involved, he had the motor carefully taken apart and went through a description of the work needed. The only part after this which took long was getting the parts from Italy (they shipped sea vs air) but it was worth the wait. Once the parts arrived it only took a few days for Brent to rebuild the motor. The bike roars like a lion once again and is ready for some riding. With all the bikes available to us today neck in neck in power and technology you have to think ... who will take care of you if something happens? If you ever have major work done, or need warranty work done, who do you take your bike to? Do you trust who is going to work on your motorcycle? How does your motorcycle dealer treat you? Do they know you by name? The staff at AF1 is just like that they provide the best customer service from your routine maintenance to a catastrophic rebuild. I have owned an Aprilia for the last three years. I have bought all of my parts from AF1. They have very reasonable pricing, a great online store, and they are willing to help out if you have questions. They ship promptly, pack their shipments well, and have a great variety of choices for my motorcycle. They even put together kits for common upgrades or other common jobs typically undertaken by owners which is a great way to make working on a bike easier. I know some other dealers who actually buy their parts through AF1 as well. They are sort of the de facto Aprilia/Piaggio North America parts center. When Marc Marquez no longer holds his dominant position at the COTA GP (would like to go when the winner isn't already known before the weekend gets started), I will finally plan a trip out to COTA for the GP. When that happens, the only other thing I know I will do for certain while in the Austin area is visit AF1's shop in person. They also run the best Aprilia forum which is visited regularly by some of their employees and is a great place for sound advice. It's actually how I found their store. They ship motorcycles all over the country and if I wasn't spoiled for choice with multiple Aprilia dealers within an hour of me, I would have just ordered mine through AF1 and had it shipped to my house. I have seen through the forum AF1 supports its customers after they buy a bike from the store and it has always been very in depth. read more

I've had problems with poor service at this shop literally since the day I bought my bike (it stalled on me the day I got it- turns out they forgot to remap the motor as part of the pre-sale checkup). Now, I just got back from a trip I had to cancel midway through because I was having issues with my motorcycle stalling after taking it to the shop for a routine tune up. Turns out the mechanics forgot to tighten my battery terminal. Had I not caught that, I could have spent a fortune towing it from the other side of the state. Not to mention the danger of my bike stalling on the highway repeatedly. Prior to that, I had my bike in the shop for *over 30 days* because supposedly they couldn't get a hold of a part. When I finally called Piaggio myself, they had the part in the shop overnight. Then when I got the bike back, they had forgotten to change a tire that was part of the service request. I waited around for them to quickly fix their mistake. Then when I got the bike back, it turns out they had broken my brake and scratched my header. Unbelievable. Time after time this shop has been a supreme disappointment. Unfortunately it's the only Moto Guzzi dealership in the Austin area. Nonetheless, I don't recommend you go if you can avoid it. read more

I can't say enough great things about AF1! We needed a scooter for our daughter to use for college and work- we had previously purchased one from a dealer in Pflugerville and had to return it due to the dealer not having a title for it(what a mess). So, when we came in and spoke to the guys about our dilemma, Thovas immediately went into action and showed us the PERFECT scooter for her!! He isn't pushy or a "salesman", he's truly a nice guy. We went in several times before purchasing the scooter this week, and I must say, everyone there are friendly, fun, knowledgable and genuine. They sell motorcycles, scooters, parts and accessories- helmets, jackets, gloves, bags, shirts, etc... They have a top notch service dept also. They have motorcycle/scooter and car parking next to their building- a definite bonus in downtown Austin. As of yesterday, they had new scooters starting at $1,999. I am writing my review as an internet customer of parts for my Aprilia RSV-Mille. I live in the the San Francisco Bay area, but AF1 Racing makes me wish I lived in Austin! Okay, not really, but you get the idea! I have purchased many parts for my motorbike from them, and they have always been fairly priced and shipped very quickly! My last order was for 2 parts, 1 of which I didn't realized had been superseded by a new part number. They caught this and made the correction for me on-the-fly. The thing is that the new part was much lower price, which then put my order total below the "free shipping threshold". I was so pleasantly surprised when I found they had still given me the shipping for free. In short, I think they are incredibly fair-minded folks, who also really know their Aprilia motorbikes!! read more

AF1- advertises they now service most all makes- so I took my '03 Kawasaki ZRX-1200 for valves and carb synchronization. Greg the mechanic from Zabors in Austin for many years, now works there. Bike was done fast and they even replaced the o-ring gaskets on the valve cover, as one was leaking. Fast, professional and reasonably priced- exactly what I was used to at Zabors before they shut down. A+ read more

I have been rebuilding a 2007 Aprilia RSV1000. I needed several fairing pieces (of which there are many different color 'styles') and various small bolts, nuts and washers. AF1 has come through every time...no matter how small my order was or how ridiculous my questions where :-) One fairing piece I ordered was delivered in the wrong color (even though I ordered the right part number). I called AF1, discussed the issue, and they immediately gave me pre-paid return shipping label, and ordered the correct piece for me. a week later my correct piece arrived. no questions asked. they have my business! read more

I have no idea why this shop has such favorable reviews. I was treated like a second-class citizen when I took a scooter I didn't buy from them to them for repair. I had an appointment with these folks and the shop manager acted like it was a huge inconvenience to unload my scooter and bring it into the shop. Then, my scooter sat in their shop for 3 weeks, (it was over the holidays, so I try to be understanding on this point. I got a phone call from the mechanic tasked with fixing my scooter telling me that the lights weren't working at all. My scooter is a 1980 Vespa Piaggio P200E with a kickstart and stator; no battery. I had to tell the "mechanic" the scooter had to be running in order for the electronics to work. $260 later, I had to call the shop to let them know the brake light they were asked to fix was still broken. I was also told that the motor had been tuned and tweaked to "run better" and I can't tell a difference between when I took it in and now that I have it back. Bottom line, I feel like I was taken on a ride by this shop, and I will do my part in discouraging ANYONE and EVERYONE from getting any work done by AF1 Racing. The mechanic who worked on my bike really sucked on a technical level AND an interpersonal dynamic level. read more

A truly great shop. I bought a Guzzi Griso and a used Ducati there, and I have been delighted in both cases with my experience. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy. And they know who you are: Jon, the General Manager, greets me by name when I come in. A special mention goes to the service team. Brent is fantastic. He really cares for your motorcycle, and patiently answers even the most stupid questions about it (and I am good at producing plenty). Repairs are timely, reasonably priced, and done right. I have just moved away from Austin to upstate NY, and AF1 ranks way up there with tacos when it comes to things I wonder how I will live without. read more

Thovas was the perfect salesman, even being super friendly to my lady while she begrudgingly waited while I took a test ride. I haven't had to deal with anything on the mechanic side of things yet, but I know I'll be in good shape as one of the guys is well respected by me, having worked on some of my previous bikes before. What a great shop! I've been driving a scooter for years and was thoroughly disappointing when I got to Austin and had bad experience after bad experience in bike shops, due to poor customer service and a general sense of not caring. I walked into this store a bit timid and apprehensive only to be blown away by a friendly, knowledgeable staff and a great collection of cool bikes. They have scooters, motorcycles, electric motorcycles, helmets and much much more. Everything is solidly made and the sales staff appears confident in backing their product. They didn't push anything, but were encouraging of any questions. They are speedy, very well priced, knowledgeable, friendly, in a convenient location, personable, reliable.... goodness! What more could you want? I highly recommend this shop to anyone. And I believe they do a beer, brats and bikes night once a month. Which is pretty awesome. read more
