Excessive intimidation from their security force. Some friends and I went shopping for our wives last Saturday, 12/9/17. We are men and all in our mid 30's and early 40's. Collectively we spent a few thousand dollars at various stores through out the mall. We stopped for lunch at Pour House and spent an hour in the restaurant. Oakbrook is a non-smoking, out door mall, and the only available place to smoke a cigar is an off the beat side entrance right out side Pour House. We were basically accosted by security, after stepping outside, and not for the cigars, they gave us no explanation what-so-ever. We wished the guard a Merry Christmas and happy holidays. He gave us an excessive amount of attitude, which we did not respond to. We were mostly done with shopping and our lunch, frustrated with the guards rudeness, we packed up and began to walk back to our cars. This is when things get excessive, if the first episode didn't already cross that line. 2 police cars followed us as far as they could back towards the main walk way of the mall. 3 Security guards appeared out of nowhere and followed us, one by one back to our cars. They walked directly behind us and followed us all the way out, which was extremely embarrassing and completely unnecessary. This is insanity. I am an adult. We were doing nothing wrong. We are paying patrons. We did not cause any type of issue, and we spent quite a bit of money. I will not be going back to Oakbrook Mall, ever. read more

I shop at Oakbrook at least three times a month. I especially love the outdoors aspect in the winter, as it keeps a lot of the whiny people away. The food choices here are also excellent, which gets men to come along when you tell them that dinner at Wildfire or the Clubhouse comes along with the trip! I do agree that this place is where the beautiful people go to wander, but the salespeople are really good about not being snobby if you decide to come in your jeans. After all, money is money and who knows who has it to spend? Pretty awesome mall, definitely the best one in the area. A great mix of mid-scale and up-scale stores along with a nice newly renovated AMC theater as well as the even more recently added "District" eating area with a bunch of great food options. It's a really pleasant place to walk around and they recently added a big green area with ping pong and other things where there are wheats kids and parents playing. read more

I love this mall. Seriously. There is a nice selection of stores and is usually busier than many other shopping centers. We went here primarily to see a German village, but did some shopping. It is a very nice mall with all the big tenants you would desire like Nordsrtrom and Macys. It is an outside mall, not always a great idea for Illinios, although today the weather was nice. Like any nice malls, parking is misery. I thought most people were using Amazon! Your patience will be tested. Once you find a spot and walk a mile to the mall, it is really well designed and easy to navigate. The German village was also nice, great for gifts. read more

This is by far my most favorite shopping center in the Chicagoland area. To call it a mall just doesn't do it justice. Oakbrook Center is more than a mall or shopping center...it's a community. Spring and summer are best but it's also nice to go for a brisk stroll during a crisp autumn or winter evening. Some of my favorite restaurants are located in this shopping center...Antico Posto and Mon Abi Gabi are beyond words awesome. All your typical shopping center stores are here as well as a number of specialty stores that mean you have something for everyone. I love the fact that the entire area is kept clean and inviting for families and teens, couples and seniors alike. Things are always changing and keeping a fresh feeling to the surroundings. There is always something seasonal to do here also. My wife loves the stores for kitchen accessories and storage supplies and the prices aren't bad so I can't complain. Enjoy Oakbrook Center. I have been coming to this mall since I was a young girl and now carry on the tradition of taking my daughter here for days of retail therapy and delicious meals at such fantastic restaurants. I have for the most part always been treated However, it was heartbreaking to hear that when my husband went there to buy me some gifts that he was not treated with the same respect that I get. No one offered to help him, greeted him or made him feel good about spending money in their store. And it is a bunch of BS! He went into the Tommy Bahama store to buy me my fav candle and not one peep from any of the snobs that were working there the day he went in. Now mind you that my husband was dressed head to toe in TB. He only wears TB jeans (his daily staple-buys 5 pairs every 4 months) and loves their loafers buying them at least once a year! I absolutely love Oakbrook Mall! The vibe is so amazing! So many stores to shop from! Unbelievable selections and qualities! I've been shopping here for years! If I'm not at Yorktown, then I'm at the Oakbrook Center!! They have plenty of restaurants and a couple of Starbucks locations! Oh, also a couple of ice cream shops too! And if you're into really good chocolate, they've got a Godiva Chocolates Shop! YuM!! All these treats for your sweet tooth!! Beautiful Fountain right next to Crate n Barrel! Went to Oakbrook Center recently with my family. This mall has almost all the establishments we usually visit. Great location with vast numbers of well-known brands. There are not many people in the mall so no lines in the stores. Very polite and attentive staff. There is no way you will leave without buying a thing, people always have huge bags of gifts for themselves. This mall it is spacious and looks fancy, without being intimidating. There is a lot and diverse restaurant choices. Clean and pleasant inside. Ambience is impressive. Great mall to on date, with your family and friends. The parking lot is accessible. My husband and I both went to this store recently to buy Apple watches. While waiting for them to link with our iPhones, I experienced a medical issue and requested a wheel chair as I was about to pass out and couldn't stand. Security was called and came more than 15 minutes later. The guy used his walkie talkie to get a wheel chair, then told me there was none available. Apple staff stood around asking if I was ok. I could hardly speak, trying not to pass out. Luckily my husband had run out to buy me something to drink and I slowly came around and was able to walk to our car. But then I got angry. What if I had been having a heart attack? A diabetic issue? A twisted ankle? I phoned the Apple store and told a manager the story. His reply was he was sorry it happened and he'd "pass it along." I may be old, but my BS detector still works! Why wouldn't Apple treat its customers better? Buy a darn wheelchair to keep for emergencies! Have some juice cans ready in case someone gets ill! I give Apple 4 stars for tech issues, but 0 for common sense! read more

Did Oakbrook Center get bought out? Wow, they've done a ton of work! There's a food court, an IMAX theater, and a lot of stores that weren't there before. They've got everything now, and the mall has been modernized, with more fountains, outdoor seating, indoor seating, and landscaping. It's beautiful. It's still absolutely labyrinthine, and when I was walking to the Argo Tea, I'm pretty sure I crossed two state lines. But they *have* an Argo Tea! And an Apple Store! And a Dry Goods! Nando's Peri-Peri! Stan's Donuts! Aveda! And, soon, a Lolli and Pops! It's like the best of all of Chicagoland's malls in one, more centrally-located place. The only downside is the same downside it's always had and always will have: It's an outdoor mall. In northern Illinois. So you're under the blazing sun in the summer, and freezing your rear off and sliding on snow and ice in the winter. read more

Whenever we are reaching for something to do on a weekend, we resort to visiting this mall. It is always clean, beautiful, and well taken care of. The store selection isn't my cup of tea because most of the stores are above my price range. However, it is fun looking around and window shopping. Hood, hood, hood is all I can say. I've been going to Oak Brook when Marshall Fields was still there. The clientele or lack of a better word, is horrendous. As a minority myself, I'm embarrassed. Money cannot buy class, no matter how much you drop at LV or Tiffany. Not everyone is out to get you. Quit living up to the damn stereotype. Biker shorts & house slippers while carrying a LV bag doesn't make you high class. Nor does screaming out racism because you have to wait in line to get into Tiffany while mocking the "privileged white folk". This mall is ghetto as hell now. I feel sorry for the employees at these stores. They're constantly yelled at or mocked and the moment security is called, it's racist. GTFOH. Do yourself a favor and shop online. One of the nicest outdoor shopping malls in the Chicago Metro area! The Oak Brook Center is an outdoor mall with high end retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor, Brooks Brothers, J Crew and Origins. The layout is very similar to two other west coast malls in California.. If you have ever been to LA, then you should know that It feels very similar to the the Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach, It is also very similar to the Stanford Shopping mall in Palo Alto in the SF Bay area. An outdoor mall full of nice shops, desperate housewives, and SUV soccer moms all in one place. It gets very hot in summer, but in winter this place is a gem. It is usually decorated with nice Christmas decorations and its probably my favorite suburban mall in Chicago. read more

This mall has changed soo much over the last few years. They have done such a great job remodeling and adding good quality stores. They have a food court area that has really good options like nandoos, DMK, and others. They also have great restroom facilities with a feeding lounge! In another lifetime I engaged in retail therapy. A lot. OK, a whole lot. I knew where every store was in this mall, which fountains my daughters liked to play in and where to eat lunch. I came here frequently and had the charge bills to prove it. Flash forward to my present happier life where yes, I like to shop but not as frenetically. I still like this mall! My husband and I were here for lunch and some shopping "lite". This is a super place to sit and people watch because it is an outdoor space. If you are going to shop you might as well go where it is outside with great flowers. I know most of the stores are big chains but heck, sometimes you feel like chain shopping. Only take it from me, use your debit card then no surprise bills at the end of the month. One more tip, sit on a bench and watch the world go by, you will be delighted. read more

The last time I spent any significant amount of time at Oakbrook was back in the 90s, when I just oogled the makeup counters at the fancy department stores of time time, or to just grab dinner at Magginano's. My most recent visit was fuled by a gift card from Nordstrom, and a craving for French onion soup from Houlihan's. While thoes two destinations were near each other, the rest of this outdoor complex stretches out in a near infinity of corridors, levels, and wings. Thankfully, there are plenty of directories to help you find what you need. Anchors and stores are mostly high-end names. Nordstrom, Brooks Brothers, Godiva, Kate Spade, Lord and Taylor, Michael Kors, and Nieman Marcus, just to name a few. There are also plenty of regular mall standards for the not-so-endowed pocketbook as well. Truly a perfect blend for both the browser and the serious shopper. The grounds and landscaping here are meticulously maintained, making it just a beautiful place for a causual stroll after a meal on a warm evening. Speaking of food, there is a restaurant here for all occasions. From a quick bite at McDonalds, Subway, or California Pizza Kitchen, a nice casual lunch at Houlihan's, Cheesecake Factory, or Corner Bakery, or a fancy, lingering dinner at the Reel Club, Wildfire, or Perry's steakhouse, you can find something for all tastes. read more

We went in here early because if not we would definitely have a hard time paring the car. There is quite a lot of people when we arrived but we easily parked the car. We were literally so excited to shop and relax ourselves, it's been a year since the last time we went in here and many things change in a good way. The place is beautiful before but it is even more beautiful now. There are a lot of shops, branded stores and all. The scenery is also lovely. Every store has a wonderful section of items and the prices are fair and reasonable. We bought things for our family and friends. When we finished shopping, we went to the food hall and we ate a lot of delicious foods. When you go here in Oakbrook Center do not miss to check out their food hall because there are a variety of delicious foods in there! Awesome stores, great customer service and good quality products plus delicious foodies are everything that we experienced here in Oakbrook Center. read more

I am not a fan of retail shopping in the first place. When there is something I need, I go to the nearest place that I know i can get it cheap and then buy it and get the hell out of there. I have rather simple tastes also (ask my wife about the $3 sweatshirt conversation) There are on occasion times where I like to just look around to see what is new and what might catch my eye. I am not an impulse buyer so these particular types of expeditions never empty my wallet. I have taken a few of these expeditions here and I would most likely never buy anything from any store here for several reasons. 1) The parking lot is hazardous to your health. The last time I was there i was almost clobbered by more BMW's, Lexus, and Mercedes then i could count while walking. 2) The parking lot design is simply horrendous and not very traffic flow friendly in the least. By the time I get from my car to my final destination in this mall, I am thoroughly pissed off. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Oakbrook Center. It's beautiful and serene with its fountains and gardens. All the shops I need are right in one place. Good restaurants are sprinkled about. But you have to dress up to go there. Wait. What? C'mon. You know. It's unspoken, but everyone knows you have to look a certain way to visit. And normally I hate that type of behavior and rebel against it as much as possible. But for whatever reason, I generally pull out the nicer jeans and button-downs when I come here. Tho, not always. And it's then that I get the sideways glances and turned up noses. Or the employees who offer extra service, as if to say they are keeping their eye on me, without actually saying it. *sigh* read more

I love coming to the Oakbrook Mall for the relaxing (newly remodeled) landscaped atmosphere, great customer shopping experiences, ample parking options and fabulous specialty shops (Sur La Table, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co.,West Elm, Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma, The Container Store-too many great shops to list them all!) and for the larger departments stores (Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom's, Sears, Macy's.) They have many different types of restaurant options to appeal and satisfy everyone's taste palate. (Antico Posto, Season 52, Maggiano's, Mon Ami Gabi, Reel Club, Perry's Steakhouse, Cheesecake Factory, Stir Crazy, The Clubhouse, PinStripes, etc.) This mall also hosts many yearly family inviting outdoor events like the Arts/Crafts days. But what we truly love is at Christmas time the a beautiful Christmas Village of Holiday mini shops and the 3D Adventure to Santa (the DreamWorks, Dream Place Experience) Meet and Photo Op. with Santa is his 3D Santa House (village setup east of Macy's.) Oakbrook is the ONLY Mall in Illinois that hosts this truly unique interactive journey to the North Pole in meeting Santa himself! An experience that your little ones will be talking about for months!!!! Reservations to meet Santa does fills up pretty fast, so I recommend booking your appointment online to secure your preferred date and time. Another great addition to this already fabulous mall is that they are building an AMC IMAX movie theater (opening Holiday 2016) on the upper level between Sear's and Nordstrom's. People who know me may recall that I don't have a lot of love for outdoor malls since the Old Orchard Debacle of 2001. That was the year I slipped on some ice while Christmas shopping and broke or made soggy with snow half of the gifts I'd just purchased, and then to add insult to injury, none of the food places had hot cocoa. I raised my fist to the sky and swore I would Christmas shop at outdoor malls no more! Well, something like that. I definitely swore. Oakbrook Center, however, is a little different and a little better than some other outdoor malls. For starters, it is more like a roofless, semi-enclosed space than a true outdoor mall. Wind and precipitation are significantly decreased on the covered walkways, and some stores have pass-throughs where you can go from one to the next without going outside again. There are 3 levels with stairs and escalators, just like a regular mall. Weather is only a real issue in the worst extremes, and while this is the Chicago area where extremes happen regularly, it doesn't affect things as much here because there are so many sheltered areas. I also like that stores are organized around the handful of anchors here. For example, if you want to do some hoity-toity shopping, park by Neiman Marcus and hit the Louis Vuitton, Omega, and Mario Tricoci. If you aren't in the game for a handbag that costs more than my car but have a kid on your list, enter by Sears and try Pottery Barn Kids, Land of Nod, and Hanna Anderson. Not all the types of stores are strictly grouped together, but you'll find the place feels cohesive and well organized. This mall also boasts a variety of dining options, a roasted nut stand that makes the open areas smell amazing, a tiny Starbucks that frequently runs out of things, and a Tesla showroom. I don't even know where to find another one of these! They also sell little remote control versions of the famous electric roadster for the under 16 set and the young at heart. I don't always shop outdoor malls, but when I do, I prefer Oakbrook Center. read more

Since I was not prepared for the unseasonably cold summer weather on my recent trip to Chicago, I had to some find me a sweater --and some pants. I somehow ended up at Oakbrook Center due to it's proximity to my hotel. I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't really get to stay and enjoy the place, but it did seem pretty decent. It's an outdoor mall. Probably very nice during the summer or spring, but I can't imagine too many people visiting during those brutal winters I keep hearing about. They had quite a bit of options, even have more upscale stores as well. Great dining choices. Ample parking, also including a garage. Anchor stores are pretty much the same you see at most malls. When I went there was a little bit of construction going on so it didn't look very appealing at the time, but I could tell that it was a pretty decent suburban mall. read more

I love this mall! Anything you can imagine, it's here. I love that everything is outdoors - there's always a lot going on in the summer and in the winter it's so beautiful with all the lights and a little bit of snow. They have both mid-range and high-end stores and you can find everything here. I like that there is a Nordstrom and a MAC Store - my two favorite places in Oakbrook. There are also a bunch of amazing restaurants like Maggiano's, California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, Papagus, etc. I know that a lot of people complain about the clientele and the stores at the mall, but it really is a great place to get your shopping done or go out with friends. read more

A very popular shopping mall in the suburbs. Oakbrook is unique to most malls around the Chicagoland area because it's an outdoor mall. This is both amazing and discouraging. It is very discouraging during the winter days when there are 10 inches of snow on the ground and freezing winds smacking you around; the last thing you want is to be shopping outdoors. But come summer time, this is a shopping mega mall. The sun shining and cool breeze on you while spoiling yourself to the newest, hottest outfits? Who wouldn't like Oakbrook Mall? They have nearly all of the major stores you can possibly ask for: Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Burberry, Swarovski, Tiffany's, etc. Though this may become extremely costly, if you want the good stuff, you have no choice but to spend a pretty penny, and this is the place to do it. Aside from all the high-end stores to choose where you're going to spend your entire paycheck at (for me, anyway), Oakbrook offers a plethora of options in restaurants. There's the ever-popular Cheesecake factor, Ditka's, California Pizza Kitchen, Capri, etc. And not too far away is located Yorktown Plaza where the list of restrauants only multiplies! So with great store and restaurant choices to satisfy your nearest splurge, Oakbrook is definitely a place you should consider. read more

Beautifully decorated this time of year for the holidays, a stroll through Oakbrook Center before Christmas is a must for me. The flowers, landscaping, and fountains are lovely in the summer. They have been known to remove hundreds of mums in the fall and pile them up in the back of the parking lot free for the taking once they were finished with them. A couple dozen free mums to put in my yard? Heckyeah. The stores are high-end for the most part though you'll find the likes of H&M and Forever 21. Shopping aside, the mall holds a number of free, annual events such as a Fathers Day car show and a craft show. read more
