We told the owner when he came to measure and again when he came to install that the French doors are 8' tall. After installation, when I tried to open the existing screen door to enter the house, the screen would not clear the opening because of the installation of the awning. That meant that if there was a fire or emergency, we could not get out that door. Although there was nothing wrong with the existing screen doors that were installed, and after several attempts to try to figure out what to do, the owner sold us a folding door that was made in JAPAN. Although I did not want to pay for it, my husband agreed to pay for half, even though it was the owner's fault that we had to replace a perfectly good door. The door did not last well and it needed repair. The owner came back and had no solution and we could not find anyone to repair the door. Recently, I began looking for a new door and I was able to find a company right in Stratford and another in NY that made the same kind of door that was made in Japan and another retractable door. A few weeks ago I had a new retractable door installed which was not inexpensive. So I have paid for one and one-half doors, because of the owner's carelessness measuring for our 8' doors. So much for thinking I was getting a good deal at Bridgeport Awnings. A.G.

We decided to complete the protection of the house by installing shutters on the remaining windows and doors. Mark came out to measure promptly and within a short time, he installed them. After several emails and phone conversations, they now tell me they need to replace cross bar attached to my house,($400), and the labor is 6-8 hours or $1850, about a third of what I paid for it only 2 years ago!! Sent them an email communicating my displeasure, and never heard back. Either the install wasn't done correctly, or it wasn't designed to work reliably. Would not recommend them.
