I had been in contact with recruiter Trevor Parker (https://www.linkedin.com/in/trevorp12) for a few months, we had finally gotten myself set up for an assignment. I did the drug test and background check, and they cleared, but they spent almost a week getting back to me with a start date. That's not normal. I made multiple contact attempts with various individuals only to be told in the end that they were waiting on the "work order" to be signed off on. Trevor also took off to go out of state for work related reasons during that time and I was not informed about this beforehand.
Within that time, another agency offered me a different assignment with higher pay and gave me a quick start date and I accepted it. I let Trevor know and was sympathetic with his situation but at the end of the day we all have to look out for ourselves. My willingness to communicate with him afterwards was as a courtesy and at least to express my gratitude for the help he provided, but the conversation turned sour real fast as did his tone.
It's one thing to want to convince me to do the assignment we originally set out to do, but the haphazard dispersing of poorly rehearsed sympathy for my situation while making snide comments about my life choices is not the way to go about doing it. The subject of being left in the dark regarding my start date was regarded as irrelevant, Trevor argued that the fact that they couldn't somehow amounted to some sort of merit just because they told me this in advance. I countered with the fact that I took that into account towards my decision making when I was offered a position elsewhere. He just didn't want to let it go. He advised that it would be "iffy" if they were willing to work with me again and I ended the call. In other words, they won't, which is totally fine. It's disappointing how I've worked with Aerotek in the past and had a good experience, but the roll of the dice with the current lineup of staff is showing some rather downhill performance on Aerotek's part. Not to mention the fact that again I had to be left in the dark regarding a start date just because someone on their end couldn't figure out when they wanted to sign off on it. That's totally on Aerotek for not getting their priorities together while I did otherwise. On the plus side, I now no longer have to ponder about what if I went along with Aerotek much like how one shouldn't ponder about having dodged a bullet. read more
