Had a successful flight from Atlanta to Madrid. The immigration/passport line was pretty fast process. There are just a lot of tourists, so this line moves slower than the Euro passport line. A little patience goes a long way. We ordered an Uber and followed the instructions to get to the Uber pickup area near the parking lot. This was an easy airport to navigated they had alot of great shops while you wait for your flight. Everything was very smooth

I took a tour and the starting and ending points was Madrid. My friend and I landed in Madrid Airport (MAD). The passport control went smoothly and our baggage didn't take that much time for them to come out. A suggestion is to put a colored band around your luggage so you can tell them apart from everyone else's luggage; they look all the same lol. Departing was another story; our outbound flight was delayed for over 3 hours. The airline provided some food vouchers but not much of a choice of food. It's what it is in this day and age of leisure travel. Much more flight delays these days compared to past years. read more

I called the week before picking up my rental to ask if I could rent the car with my USA driver´s license because my EU license that I carried with me was expired and the brand new one was not physically with me. After holding on the phone while they asked this internally they told me there would NOT be a problem. When I arrived they took no responsibility of their misleading information and would not rent me the car, nor return the money on my reservation. I called their Customer line, they agreed with me and then refused to speak to their colleagues at the desk. Finally, my only option left was to call someone that would bring my physical EU license so they could write the issue date, they did not even make a copy... After a 7hour flight, we waited for another 3hours becuase they refused to take the picture of the document as proof when in reality they keep no evidence about it. It was the least thing they could have done after having provided false misleading information. They were not simpathetic at all, actually they could not care less. At least they could be apologetic, it was their damn fault. And of course... as a courtesy and nicety after all this unnecessary situation they gave us a crappy Ford Fiesta with 80,000kms that had scratches and dings in every single bumper, door, roof, corner, etc... English: Gold Car and Interrent charged me 1300€ for something we did not do. They physically shook the trunk of the car to damage it on purpose. They gave us an old rusty car and blamed us for all the scratches already on it. Employees were disrespectful and called us names. They made us return home three times claiming we needed more documents to rent the car. They made us wait in a slow and long line up. One of them had blue hair and she condescended us. This is not a respectable company. We don't know why they are still permitted to be running. Just read all the other reviews about them on Instagram, TripAdvisor, and others. If I could give them one star I would. The lady at the counter did not give me the car because I did not have my passport with me - OK. My husband had it with him and he said he would rent it himself. She says 'you can cancel and get your money back or you can call the respresentative and then change the booking to your husband's name' I booked through priceline. We took a cab for 30 eu to get to the airport. I had my ID and passport copy with me - she could have helped us but she chose not to. And then I cancel the booking - realized that I get NO money back. She tries to rent us the same car for 150euros - I booked the car for only 35eu. This is insane. They also force you to buy an insurance and it costs way more. They do not accept American drivers licenses anymore as well. So as an American tourist if you go to Spain and try to rent a car , you can't. I had my European license as well and that was the only reason I could get the car but she did not accept the passport copy. Ridiculous. Definitely a VERY BAD AND DISSAPPOINTING experience! Hassle-free car rental: very fast service and friendly staff. I got my rental within a few minutes which is greatly appreciated after 13+ hr flight The car was very clean and the small fee that you have to pay ($100-ish for scratches etc) for your piece of mind is priceless. They didn't try to sell me the ridiculous insurance $$ like other companies do, everything went smooth - highly recommend it!!! read more

Soul Destroying - charges for damage that I did not cause and I have proof! Soul Destroying Goldcar - Madrid - T1 and T4 - Bad for your health! Staff that do not check/refuse to check the cars at point of hire and then make sure they charge you for damage on return. Just been charged 450 euro for damage that I have proof that I did not cause. Sergio! Thanks a lot mate! Big guy, blonde hair. I had just brought back a car and signed the return, Being offered the same car again to take out I had no problem with this. Sergio should have transferred the damage to the new contract but he told me to just go! In some ways this made sense. I had the car checked on return and signed for no damage but OMG Satan was waiting for me when I returned the car the second time with no further damage than had been signed off already. He refused to listen to me, refused to look at the previous information and damage. I tried to show him the pictures he was taking of the damage were listed on the previous damage report but he refused to look and said just sort it out with customer services! Bullied me into signing the return, therefore, accepting the damage I guess? When I said I did not agree as I had not damaged the vehicle he shouted at me saying if I did not sign, he would state that I refused to sign. So here I am, as I did not cause the damage, I cannot claim through my insurance. My credit card company will not reimburse as I authorised the transaction (Sainsbury unfortunately! Barclaycard, would not have been a problem) and now I am at the mercy of the Goldcar customer services team, who don't return emails, charge premium rate on their customer 'helpline' and refuse to communicate in English. Now just trying to find a solution online through WHICH? All because Sergio could not be bothered to transfer some information! Complete nightmare! Twitter next! But who has the time for this? I booked my car online , when i tried to pick up, they were charging me 70 per day extra without asking me when i asked , i was told i ve to pay either 70/day + 500 deposit or 2.400 deposit I aggreed with first choice cause i didnt have no choice at airport and when i hand visa card , they told me they dont accept foreign cards , its usa visa card , i offered mastercard they didnt accept , i offered my moms turkish credit card and debit atm card , they said name has to match with driver I said add my mom as 2nd driver they rejected that too I cant believe i paid for car and sitting right front of entrance calling costumer service they told me 4443803 nobody answers , i sent email to spain their general office no respond. Basically i wasted time and money here and leaving without picking up any car There is no person or phone call you can call , discuss or talk Last i asked them to cancel , they said they are not able to .. no words tho you make your choice to go this shitty company read more

Spoiler alert: The only good thing about the car was the bonus WiFi router. We were on a vacation in Spain, and my family decided it'd be great to rent a car so we could travel where we pleased. After a rejection from Hertz, we stopped by Goldcar where the friendly desk-clerk gave us the keys to a Citroen and wished us well. Things were looking up. As we traveled three hours from Madrid to Bilbao, there was this strange beeping sound every few minutes. We didn't think much of it, as our car back home made the same noise when we got too close to nearby objects. We arrived to Bilbao all well and good, no big deal. It was when we were leaving Bilbao that there was the problem. See, we rented a manual diesel car. Cars like these required a substance called 'AdBlue' which we had never heard of before. Funnily enough, they had rented us the car with a dangerously low amount of 'AdBlue'. Here's the kicker, though: if your car runs out of it, it completely shuts down. We found ourselves in a bit of a predicament. We called Goldcar from Bilbao and asked them how they could help us with our problem. In summary, their reaction was "Oh... that sucks." and there wasn't anything they could do. No offerings to help, no recommendations for a towing company, not even an explanation to what the hell AdBlue was. Luckily, there was a polite mechanic at the hotel who offered to drive us to a gas station where we could buy it, and come back to install it. The car was fine and the WiFi router was great, but it was pretty upsetting that they didn't bother try and help. read more
