If you sit in certain seats you get the best views of Grand Via. During the evening this is very pleasant. Barcelo is a formal restaurant within a large hotel. In Madrid many of the restaurants are tucked in cozy spots on the street. This is not which may or may not be appealing. It is also a quiet restaurant so if you want to be able to hear others this may be a very good option. This is a white tablecloth type of service. As for the food, I enjoyed my meal and they were able to pair with a good Rioja. While it was good and traditional, there was not a particular aspect that really exited my taste buds. The meal is not cheap, but if you on a expense account budget this may be just the place for you. Service has efficient and accommodating. A trendy place, this is not.

What a gorgeous hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Our stay was organized by our tour guide but we couldn't be more pleased. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The beds were amazingly comfortable, we had a double twin room which was spacious enough for us and more than enough closet space. The free breakfast is a beautiful spread of cheeses, omelette station, pancakes, breads and baked goods and on and on. There were 4 espresso machines where you could choose from a variety of cafes.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in and I've traveled a lot. The service is exceptional, the staff super friendly and courteous. The concierge or public relations as they call it have a lot of great restaurant suggestions and go out of their way to make reservations and appointments for you. Patrica, Yoselyn and Beatriz were the girls helping me and they were wonderful! But everyone from the bartenders to all the receptionist were great. I left a paper there that was important and Pablo from reception drove it to my next hotel in Madrid because the Hilton would not help in getting it over. You don't fine service like that everyday!! The rooms are modern, new and clean. I love the bathtub with a view! They have Bluetooth speakers in the room which is amazing. My room view was also right into plaza espana and gran via.. beautiful. The location of the hotel is perfect. Its walking distance from everything and close to the bus and subway, although I took u we mostly. Highly recommend staying here when traveling to Madrid. I have to mention the breakfast bar. It was unreal. Organic fresh and a feast for he eyes and taste buds. I posted pics! I wish we had smthing like this in the states. The churro and chocolate bar to die for!

Let me give you the bottom line right up-front - this is the best hotel I've ever stayed in while visiting Europe, and is amongst the best of the best I've stayed in during any of my travels. I had signed up for the My Barceló affinity program before arriving and even though this was only my first Barceló stay, I was warmly welcomed on arrival as "one of our family". Even though we arrived at the hotel in the early morning, the very nice young lady who checked us in had already made arrangements for our rooms to be ready on arrival, a very welcome surprise after a long overnight flight. We were also greeted by Sonia Palmero, an absolutely wonderful woman who is the hotel's Public Relations Manager, the team that's in charge of making sure that all of the hotel's guests are comfortable and well-taken care of. Sonia's truly genuine enthusiasm for her guests' comfort made for a wonderful welcome to Madrid, and we had the pleasure of chatting with Sonia several times throughout our visit, with our new friend making sure we had everything we needed and giving us some great suggestions about cocktail bars and restaurants we should check out during our time in Madrid. The hotel's greeting extended to a plate of baked goodies awaiting us in the room, a nice touch that put a smile on my face after a long night of sleepless travel. The hotel has a modern décor that combines mid-century modern design with some cool design elements, including the big bear in the lobby tipping its top hat to you as you enter the hotel's lobby. The art continues throughout the hotel, in each floor's elevator lobby and in various corners of the hallways, all done in a tasteful yet playful way. The design carries into the Garra Bar, where we made good use of the 100 euro credit that we had for on-property spend. Now, to the rooms, which were surprisingly large for a European hotel. The lovely décor of the hotel continued right into the room, the huge windows letting in a lot of light and making the room feel even more spacious. Our rooms also had small balconies that were perfect vantage points for watching the goings-on on Gran Via and in the Plaza de España. The bed is obviously the most important part of any hotel room, and this one was quite comfortable, making for a good night's sleep. Probably the most amazing feature of the Barceló is its daily breakfast buffet - incredibly generous, with everything from freshly baked breads to omelets made to order to tortillas de patatas and more. I'll let the accompanying pictures speak for themselves! The hallmark of this hotel is definitely its staff, providing the kind of professional service one would expect in five-star hotels but in a much more comfortable, friendly, and easy-going manner. It's this genuinely friendly approach to service that made this a great stay, and I'll definitely be considering the Barceló group for future hotel stays based on this experience. The hotel is centrally located, right on a Metro stop and a short 10-minute walk to Sol, Madrid's central square - so with its great location, excellent amenities, and wonderful staff, your hotel selection for your next visit to Madrid is a no-brainer! (Say hello to Sonia for me when you visit!)

Okay minus one for the extremely slow moving elevators but the room was really nice, service was excellent, and the breakfast was chefs kiss! The room was decked out in a beautiful gold with a sofa, table, and spacious bed. Amenities included WiFi, complimentary shoe cleaning, and glass bottles of water daily. The outside view was nice (top of the palace or something), bathroom was spacious with complimentary body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and lotion. There is a coffee machine in the room as well as a small fridge with drinks and snacks priced per item. They had 2 robes in the room, velvet clothing hangers, and the softest room slippers. They have an awesome breakfast buffet, which cost 45 euros each day or about 30 euros if you pay for all days of your stay. The breakfast although stayed the same every day, were all healthy and fresh ingredients from creamy scrambled eggs, thinly sliced jamon and Manchego cheese, to fresh fruits, fresh juices, buttery croissants, fresh honey comb, pancakes, churros, and make your own omelet station. Also right across the street is the famous Prado Museum and The Cooking Clubhouse cooking class. Their service was excellent helping me load-in and load-out my luggage and there's even an indoor lounge and bar. Would come back 10/10, Salud!! :))

Double room with two comfortable twin beds and bathroom. The room faced the Calle de Anocha side. Very little car traffic on this small street. Small TV, but who's in Madrid to watch TV anyway? In room safe. Heavy curtains that kept out all the morning light. The hotel is on the southeast corner of the Plaza Santa Cruz. This plaza is nice and quiet. A couple restaurants, hostales, a bank, and a government building anchor this small square. Makes for a relatively quiet evening. Located 1 block from Plaza Mayor, 2 blocks from Puerta del Sol, and maybe a 15 min walk to El Prado. Its really got a great central location. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Free-wifi too. Sometimes it wouldnt work so great in our room, but there was a little couch area outside our room where it would work just fine on those occasions.

For the money that you pay in the location it is, you can't wish for more. Very tempted to actually give this place 5 stars ... Where's that 1/2 star when you need it? ;) The location for this little gem can't get any better, located right in the heart of Madrid's tapas district: La Latina. The reception is located together with the bar, which may be a little confusing for some, but the service is so welcoming and friendly, that it poses absolutely no problems. You are not only welcomed with a smile, but a welcome drink, which is exactly what you need/want when you just arrive somewhere. The bar is also welcoming and well furnished with a homely feeling The room wasn't massive, but furnished with very modern and chic decor giving it a very funky upmarket feeling. The bathroom was also very modernly decked out. More space was given to the bathroom than around the bed, which I appreciated. The shower was also a walk in jobby, not one of these bath/shower combos which I have no time for (having no kids mind you). We had a room with balcony facing the street which was just perfect. Fair to say that come morning there was a fair bit of noise with rubbish trucks and the like waking us up, but to me this only added to the charm of the place. Experiencing the hustle and bustle of a city is exactly the reason I travel to such place .... Others I'm sure would not agree. Very nicely furnished (rooms, bar, restaurant etc.), sweet location, friendly service. What more could you want? Highly recommended!!

The hotel is right on the popular Cava Baja road, where there is no shortage of tapas restaurants and boisterous, young night lifers spilling out of bars and restaurants and into the street from sundown to well in the morning. The hotel's own entire first floor is a restaurant, with an open-roof courtyard of tables. This sounds nice but presents a problem as the rooms surround this courtyard on the above floors. The noise wasn't *horrible* but it was definitely noticeable - talking, chatting, clinking, laughing - until midnight or so. The rooms are small but with good use of space. My sister and I shared a room, and the lack of mirror of any kind outside the bathroom made it hard for two of us to get ready at once. Also, the bathroom is a sliding glass door with frosted glass, so I don't recommend this for non-couple sharers or those who don't know each other really well. The breakfast buffet was €12, which seemed a bit steep for a breakfast, but the fresh juice and croissants looked tasty. The location was excellent -- we could walk to Mercado San Miguel, Plaza Mayor, Sabatini Gardens, and walking to Museo del Prado and the Reina Sofia was do-able if you wished.
