Okay- we had a nice experience about a week ago with a middle aged sales woman. It was so nice- the…read moresales woman said if I had a problem with the size- I could bring it back. Fast forward to this evening- I went back with the top for an exchange. A young sales girl said no exchange nor any refund. Basically, I was stuck with what I had. PS- there is a sign upfront saying they accept tips. My husband tipped her last week. Hmm. What a business! Asking for tips- saying you will take things back and you don't!!! Bummer!

Last June (2024), I discovered the Art Supply House while looking for a parking spot to grocery…read moreshop. What a find! The staff was extremely helpful, the selection and quality of items was just right, and I left feeling impressed. The first place I stopped in Durango this time around (July 2025) was the Art Supply House. And yet again, the staff (Lily and Olivia) were on it. I went in looking for one thing and left with many. Lily explained the subtle differences between two items I was interested in, and they both went above and beyond in being friendly, informative, and helpful. I will be back every time I am in Durango. Super impressed with their customer service.

I needed a specific Lenovo charger for my laptop, and I needed it asap. I called in (I think I…read morespoke with Shawn) to see if I could paw through a box of old chargers, and they invited me on in. I got there and a large dog raised its head to look at me as I was smacked in the face with the smell of marijuana. Not a big deal, I thought. I looked through a box of chargers and found the exact one I needed. I was stoked. When Shawn went to ring it up, it was $65. Are you kidding me? This charger goes for $32 brand new on the Lenovo website! I asked if he could do anything about the price and he said he'd have to talk to his manager. He went behind a wall, to talk with some woman who's head I could see the top of through a window, and they talked a bit. He came back, essentially said that it was a lot more expensive than he expected too but the owner is firm on pricing. I thanked him for his help and left. I have no problem with Shawn, he was just doing his job. But the lady behind the wall and the owner? Are you serious? How do you justify selling a used laptop charger for twice the price of it brand new? Why did you not come talk to my face instead of making Shawn, who already has a queue of phone screens to fix, run around your store? The worst part is, people have to pay these prices because it is a small town and there's nowhere else to go. Here I am trying to support local businesses and being forced to buy from the colossal corporate dome that is Bezos' shaved head. Absolutely ridiculous.

I struggle with this review. These are very talented upholsterers and I know many locals who have…read moreglowing things to say about them, which is why I felt comfortable using them. My experience was a bit different. It started out great, worked with the owners to source fabric I could get fast enough to complete this job before an unexpected move. I paid full retail for the fabric which was a nice bump in profit for Nip N Tuck. I had a schedule which they said they could accommodate. In the end I actually had about 10 days more than planned. I got no updates on the progress and as my move date got closer, I started reaching out for status. The owner never returned my calls though I spoke to an employee who gave me no helpful information. When I did finally reach her, after several attempts, it was like I was speaking to a different person altogether. To say she was rude and unprofessional is inadequate to describe that phone call. So I came to terms with the fact I'd probably have to ship these at a later date. Next thing I know, chairs are done and they offered to deliver. A complete 180° from my previous encounter. So that was awesome. Chairs looked fabulous. They are creaky now, where they weren't before. Also they sit very soft and we discussed making the sit medium-firm. So now we'll be moving them to a less used space because they are marginally comfortable. So with all that being said, I probably would look for someone else primarily because of the roller coaster of personal treatment. I do believe you can have good work done if you get everything in writing and stay on top of the progress. But for me, not so much.
