My wife and I live in Grapevine, Texas, and wanted a long weekend getaway. We rented the cedar…read morecabin and absolutely loved it. There are very few things as peaceful as sitting in a jacuzzi and watching the wildlife walk and fly by. No sounds of cars. No airplanes overhead. No "hustle and bustle." Just peace. The cabin itself was pretty cool. There's a binder with photos documenting its construction sitting on the kitchen table. The layout made sense. It's nice to be able to cook your own meals if you want. There are some restaurants just a few miles from the cabin if you'd rather do that. If you want a nice hearty breakfast, you have to check out Granny D's. The shower and fireplace were both a lot of fun. The rain on our first day there made it a bit difficult to get a fire going, but we finally managed to start it. The replica Franklin stove in the bedroom was useful. The way that the windows are fitted to the house lets a bit of a draft in, and they rattle a bit when the wind is blowing hard, but that's part of the charm of the place. Another cool place to check out while you're there is the Natural Bridge Caverns. Lots of fun, as we both like long walks and hiking-type activities. There is one recommendation that I would make to the owners of the cabin. Re-grade the driveway/ramp down to the cedar cabin. The sharp drop at the bottom all but guarantees that you're going to scrape your vehicle's undercarriage unless you're driving a pickup or SUV. If you are driving a sedan, you'll want to park at the top of the driveway and walk down the hill to the front door. We were crawling down the driveway at less than 1 mph and still managed to scrape the under-body paneling of the car on our first day there. That sucked. We parked up top (see photos) for the rest of our stay. All of that said, the cabin was exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing hill country getaway. I've recommended it to many of my friends and colleagues in the past few weeks since we got back to Grapevine. You should absolutely check it out and at least give it some consideration if you're looking for a getaway that's a bit different than the typical downtown hotel or beach resort scene. 8/10 Would survive the zombie apocalypse there.

Nestled in the hill country just a stones throw away from Canyon Lake and all the awesomeness that the Hill Country has to offer are the Homestead Cottages. There are three cottages: A cedar cabin, a regular cottage, and a Tiny Texas House. We stayed at the Tiny Texas House and loved it. The location itself is great. It's close to New Braunfels but even closer to Canyon Lake. It is perfect for day trips into the surrounding hill country, which is exactly what we used it for. We tripped to Boerne and Bandera from the location and the drive was beautiful. Tough to beat. The amenities at the Tiny Texas House were nice as well. There is a Tiny Texas Kitchen with a Tiny Texas Induction Oven (you know, the magnet thingie to heat stuff up with). There was also a flat-screen TV with sattelite TV, bath robes, and a coffee maker. Most of the comforts of home. I had only a couple of negatives about the TTT: (a) the size of the sink made it difficult to wash dishes and there was no dish soap; (b) the air conditioner wasn't quite strong enough to cool down the lofted bed; (c) there were some unknown hairs on the bed sheet so we were uncertain whether the sheets had been washed before we arrived; and (d) the fridge smelled a little musty. These were small issues, though, and didn't diminish our enjoyment that much. Aside from the location, a few things stand out for me. First, I loved that the TTT had a little enclosed garden surrounding an above-ground jacuzzi. If we were so inclined, there was plenty of mint to make enough mojitos for a party of 20. The jacuzzi was secluded, too, both by the trees lining the street and a wall filling in the space where the trees were. I also really liked the idea of a lofted bed. It was like getting up into my lofted bed I had in college, except fancier. All in all, if you're wanting a hill country escape with your significant other, you can do much worse than staying in one of the Homestead Cottages in Canyon Lake: unique, charming, and cozy.

A Diamond in The Hill Country ! If you're looking for a relaxing Bed & Breakfast in the Texas Hill…read moreCountry with super hospitality, a pool, and beautiful lake views, Justin & Jean Robinson's "Lakehouse Bed and Breakfast at Canyon Lake", managed by Justin as "operator and breakfast chef" is the place to go ! We stayed there from Thursday April 23rd - Sunday April 26th 2026. It was like living in an Italian Villa and you would be hard pressed to find a more gracious host and chef than Justin anywhere ! He's been doing this for over twenty years ! We arrived at the Lakehouse around 3:00 pm and were immediately welcomed by Justin who carried our bags to our upstairs Medici Room and gave us a tour of the house. Justin also provided us with excellent tips on things to see and do in the area, as well as suggestions for restaurants for lunches and dinners. Thursday evening, we ate dinner on the outside patio of Gennaro's Trattoria where we enjoyed their Authentic Italian Kitchen. Friday morning, we enjoyed a delicious omelet breakfast in the Lakehouse breakfast room overlooking Canyon Lake and great conversation with other guests. Following breakfast, we took a leisurely drive down River Road to the quaint town of Gruene (that's pronounced "Green"). There, we had lunch at the Gruene River Grill, followed by a relaxing stroll through the many antique and boutique shops in Gruene, and a visit to Gruene Hall, Texas' Oldest Dance Hall. We then returned to Canyon Lake and enjoyed some merlot wine and cheese and crackers (which we had brought with us) on the Lakehouse's covered outdoor patio overlooking Canyon Lake. We had dinner at Canyon Lake's Wildflour Artisan Bakery & Grill which offers a full menu. On Saturday morning, we enjoyed a delicious Belgian waffle breakfast in the Lakehouse breakfast room. Following breakfast, we drove to the town of Blanco and visited Arnosky's Flower Farm. After walking around the beautiful flower fields, we bought some beverages and snacks inside Arnosky's barn and sat in the chairs on the barn's covered back porch patio overlooking the flower fields, humming bee feeders, and bird feeders. You could sit there a long time as the scene is ever changing. From Arnosky's, we drove to Tillman's Cabin Resort in Blanco and ate lunch at the Rio Blanco Café overlooking the Blanco river. After lunch, we drove to the original 1885 Blanco Court House in downtown Blanco where we took a leisurely self-guided tour of the courthouse. We also visited Blanco's many antique and boutique shops. Saturday evening, we attended the 4 pm mass at Canyon Lake's St. Thomas The Apostle Church. At the end of mass, we witnessed one of their congregants step up to the lectern with the pastor's approval, talk about what the bible says about a wife, ask the lady in the front row next to us to step forward, and then bent down on one knee and asked her to marry him in front of the entire church congregation, and she said "YES" and they kissed. What a beautiful proposal ! Following mass, we had dinner on the outside patio of Canyon Lake's Elio's Osteria e Pizzeria. On the evening drive back to the Lakehouse, we saw lots of white tail deer in the neighborhood. On Sunday morning, we enjoyed a delicious scone and quiche breakfast in the Lakehouse breakfast room. We again enjoyed conversing with the other guests as we had every day, and then we packed and headed home. Sorry for the length of this review but my wife and I thought readers might enjoy hearing about what one can do from The Lakehouse Bed and Breakfast at Canyon Lake. The Lakehouse is centrally located in the Texas Hill Country and opens this area up to you like a box of chocolates!

This private access room includes its own balcony with a hot tub and stunning views of Canyon Lake. The room itself is decorated beautifully and the king bed is super-comfortable. The private on-property pool was the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon. I agree with all the previous visitors who raved about Justin's fantastic breakfasts! Day 1 included orange scones and a delicious zucchini fritatta and roasted potatoes - incredible. Day 2, by special request, included strawberries Romanov and eggs benedict with sausage. Thank you, Justin, for the wonderful food and conversation. We highly recommend this gem and can't wait to visit again soon!

The condo was beautiful and had so many amenities, I wish we had stayed longer so we could have enjoyed the hot tub! The deck looks right out to Canyon Lake and provided amazing sunset views. There were kayaks included with the rental which were a blast! We loved that the master was on entry level with the secondary bedrooms downstairs. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful Gwen was - from finding how close it was to where I needed to be, to booking the day before travel! She went above and beyond to make sure we had a relaxing and fun weekend. Great location to Gruene, Wimberly, as well as a grocer right around the corner from the condo!! Definitely plan to book through AMZ again in the future!

I am the owner of a property and trusted these people to take care of my home (manage my property)…read morethat I deployed so many times for. First, there was a very manageable issue with the HVAC involving water damage. The guests at the time were being very cooperative. However, their failure to manage this caused more damage and the removal of the tenants. The maids were awful. I found a sucker melted to the floor, dust, crumbs, etc. And I had to call an exterminator it was so bad. They overcharged for basic services an made up charges. Then a guest cancelled at the last minute. They charged the tenants the full price - as they stated - and kept all the money and their commission and refused to explain how that works. Then they cancelled the contract, claiming I wasn't nice and hated women, and charged me $1500. What? They say for advertising and photos...even tough they charged me $500 for the photos up front. What a scam. And they won't share all the property reviews as they are "deleted" upon removing the review. So, they collect $1500 and get to erase their mistakes. They are basically crooks in my opinion. After placing the review, they threatened legal action and even messaged me privately while bringing my mother into the process. I am not a competitor. I just want to rent my own property when I get sent for duty. I wanted them to manage it. If they can collect money off of you with little to no work everything is fine. But, if you complain they get personal really quickly and insult. It's not professional. I recommend reading the other reviews. I changed my own as the legal threats and harassment just became so involved. I wish they put this much tome into managing my property.

The home is spacious and sits on a hilltop. It has all the amenities a family or couple could need: gas grill outside, plenty of cooking utensils, a working ice maker, and washer and dryer. Whether you enjoy your coffee at sunrise, or gazing at the stars, the best spot in the yard is the hefty wooden swing set. There is also, plenty of lawn furniture, including a slide and swing set for kids. We wanted to play horseshoes- but we ran out of time. Becky the owner, is one of the most genuine and friendliest people I have ever met. She was wonderful and accommodating to our needs, and respectful of our privacy. Our absolute favorite surprise of the visit, was the hand-delivered eggs to our door-step. If this retreat becomes too popular, then Becky might have to acquire more chickens to meet the demand! LOL. The retreat is less than a mile from Canyon Lake, and about 18 miles from Gruene, Texas. Plenty of spots in between to tube down the river. We also went to Schlitterbahn water park, only 20 miles away, in New Braunfels, also close by. We chose this property because if its seclusion away from the rowdy rafter scene, yet near enough it to participate when desired. If you have wireless internet access, then you can yelp to your hearts content...no worries there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return..

We had a great long weekend stay at the River Rd. Treehouses. The area is quaint and secluded in a…read moreshaded, wooden area under trees. Parking is along the street side directly across from the tree houses, there is no designated parking lot with spaces. To get to each treehouse you have to cross a bridge that is situated over a dry creek- so loading and unloading our belongings took a couple of trips to and from the car. We stayed in Whippoorwill Haus and were happy with the space- we had more than enough room for my husband and I and our two dogs. The house seemed clean upon arrival. The only complaint I have is that I found a bunch of women's clothing and makeup in a bedroom drawer that seemed to have been left behind- so not sure how thorough of a cleaning job they did. There is a loft with two beds that we only went up to once, just to view. The spiral staircase is narrow and somewhat difficult to go up- I wouldn't suggest bringing any bags or suitcases up there. Otherwise we stayed on the first floor of our cabin the whole weekend. The couches were a bit outdated but comfortable. The kitchen is small and has an electric stove. The kitchen utensils they supplied were at a bare minimum and cheap, but it did the job. I suggest bringing disposable utensils and plates. Also, if you plan on making any special meals- you need to bring your own seasonings, special pans, oil, etc. The kitchen is stocked with a minimum amount of dishes, utensils, and pots/pans- this is not like an air bnb- there was no leftover soap or cooking oil in the pantries. No shampoo or other bathroom toiletries, so be prepared to bring everything with you, including paper towels, FYI. We came with a group of friends and so we were able to share the common outdoor patio between our tree house and Morning Dove. There is a charcoal grill located outside of each house which we used every night for dinner. The grill was pretty dirty so bring cleaning supplies. The outdoor shared patio space has 2 large tables which were perfect for our large group. We loved sitting outside in the evenings to watch all the deer. The Guadalupe River access for tubing is across the street and about a 5 minute walk. It is not private as there are other houses and rentals along that location of the river. We went in August and the river level was pretty low so make sure you check the level before your stay if you're definitely interested in tubing. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. It was a great, local Texas escape during covid times. We loved that the tree houses are dog friendly and I highly recommend staying here if you are with a big group of friends.
