Set among the trees and rocks it's a great little spot! Nice pool with a view. Room was very clean, cold and the bed was comfy. Recently redone I guess all is really new looking and tastefully done. Nice shower with a rain head. I'd love to come back in the winter and sit on a balcony with a book! This would be 5 star if the fridge was mini bar type which they may be in the process of doing. Quaint little place to stay! We got into a renovated King room overlooking the pool and hills. Checked in early no problem. If you want chilled beverages, they will provide to be ready in the cute mini fridge. The room is southwest modern minimalist and it's great. The shower feels big and is open. The heater and AC work well with an remote control. Coffee - a 5 cup pot, with two packets so you have plenty. You also can have real plates and cups or paper. Oh and a fig bar to tie you over until breakfast. King bed was comfortable. Plenty of lighting. Place is clean. It is small, but it was fine for 2 of us. Parking lot and driveway are a little perilous, but just go slow. Pool open and has nice sun deck. Host was super nice and friendly. Price was great. Recommend!! read more

Well, actually, I haven't been there in probably 5+ years. However, I used to stay there weeks at a time, when I had land in the area. Always peaceful, quiet, etc. but once I was an idiot and pestered a scorpion at night by one of the benches. Now, he was minding his business, so, ok he stung me on my big toe. So, I just let him go his own way. One thing I did notice that hasn't changed is the coke machine between the first and second buildings. Still there. The stone sidewalks are a nicer touch. For those interested in the little hiking trail, yes, there are dinosaur tracks there. An allosaurus if I remember correctly. They are located, if the new owner hasn't changed the trail, as you are going down in a dry creek, just to your left are the tracks, and from there you hike up to the inn. Very nice place. My wife had sold them some pictures of the wildlife there for the rooms. Probably not there anymore, but things change. I don't know if the views have changed across RR12, but we're the best views. Unfortunately, with the growth in the area, as I drove past a couple of months ago, too many houses. And I build homes. Ironic, right? Anyway, hopefully I can get there for a week stay soon. And those of you wanting to stay should try it. If you're looking for entertainment, just up the road towards Blanco is the famous Devil's Backbone Tavern. Ghost stories abound. Maybe, if you look in one of the little bookstores in Wimberly you might find a book that a local writer, and friend of mine wrote there about the Devil's Backbone as a whole. His name was Bert M. Wall. Passed away some time ago, but I imagine you can still Google his name and find some of his books. I've taken enough time, good day! read more

We are from Conroe, but Wimberley is where we try to go as often as possible. The only place I will ever stay is Mountain View Lodge. My boyfriend and I have a rather large puppy "Mango" and everyone is so accommodating to our playful pup! Ben is a real first class guy. He works hard and always has the most kind and genuine attitude. The trails are so beautiful and convenient, the views are amazing and the rooms are perfect. I can't wait to book our next trip! My wife and I have loved this lodge for many years until our past visit the end of July 2021. They have new owners and the owner has no idea of what customer service is. Below are the comparisons. The original owners had a 48 hour cancellation time. New owner is (7) days Original owner had a nice continental breakfast at up every day in their lobby. New owner does not and furnishes the cheap coffee maker in each room. Original owner had onsite staff if you needed additional towels or any assistance. New owner does not have anyone there at night and no one all day Sunday so if you are a guest over the weekend till Monday just know you are left in your own. Original kept it very clean, friendly and a fair price. New owner has no idea what friendly customer service is and I'll never pay over $150 a night again at that little junk spot. Very sad. Used to be our favorite getaway to meet friends from other parts of the state for a weekend. But after our last stay, they just lost (3) long time couples as future guests. Only good thing is the day manager is personable, but hog tied by owner at doing anything to help a guests requests. read more

Room amenities not stocked, no door code texted on arrival as promised, and worst of all, received duplicate charges on credit card bill for reservation, plus erroneous charges for honor bar. Rooms are very nice with good view. Just needs better managing. read more

Wow this was the coziest and comfiest hotel stay me and my partner have had in awhile. The property is absolutely beautiful, pool is clean and kept up with, and the rooms are nicely renovated. Linens smelt nice and the bed was comfortable. Towels were stocked up both in the room and at the pool. It's the little things that make a nice stay. Thank y'all a bunch! read more

i wouldn't give this a 1 but a 0 wasn't available. After we checked in to our room at about 4:30pm we were told that NO ONE WAS GOING TO BE THERE AT NIGHT! It was too late to go and we're told no problems ever existed here. That night around 8:30pm some one tried the handle of our door, then started walking back and forth down the front of the rooms, this went on for about 5 minutes and then again they tried the door. There is only a turn lock on the door and we put a chair in front of it but we were starting to get scared. Finally the running and yelling back and forth continued until we called 911, it took about 20 minutes for him to arrive, and of course by that time no one was out there. The officer said he thought it was a drunk trying to get into the wrong room, or kids but no matter we felt our safety was at risk. He was nice but had no solution except he was sure we would be ok. Of course, maybe 15 minutes after he left it started up again. We decided we were safer in our room with the chair under the handle then trying to get the bags to the car! Here we sit waiting for the morning so we can get out of here. Good luck if you decide to stay here, the officer said this was not an uncommon occurrence. read more

I can't believe people are giving this place 5 stars! If it cost less than $50 a night I might give it 3 stars, but it's a $100+. Do not expect much of a breakfast, there was coffee and orange juice the first morning and a random bowl of fruit in the office. There isn't a breakfast area. The second day there was the same random bowl of fruit and some granola bars. It's like walking back to the 1950's. The single rooms are small with loud window units. It's close to downtown Wimberley and the Wimberley Cafe was good for quick meals. The pool looked nice, but it was raining when we were there. read more

This place was so great! The women running this place are unbelievable! 15 minutes before my husband and I were suppose to be at a wedding my dress ripped! In a panic, I searched for a safety pin in our toiletries, but couldn't find anything. I then got the thought that maybe they had one in the office. I ran as fast as I could and asked them in almost tears, "do you have a safety pin?" The woman at the desk said, "Don't worry, Chris can fix anything!" Chris then took my dress and sewed it herself! After Wimberly Log Motel failed to keep my reservation in tact, we decided to drive around and see if we came across anything. Luckily, we passed Mountain View Lodge! Their rates were so reasonable and the location is beautiful! Every room has a balcony that overlooks the hillside. They have an outdoor pool and a nature trail. There a trail guide in each room that helps you identify wildlife and a neat dinosaur fossil! There are even walking sticks for you to use at the beginning of the trail. In the morning, the lovely managers put out a breakfast of coffee, donuts, fruit and juice in the office. It turns out, I was lucky that my other reservation didn't work out. Otherwise, we never would have found this gem! read more

Mountainview Lodge was perfect for our group (wedding guests, bridal party, family). The rates were reasonable, great location - most rooms have a small balcony overlooking the hill country, very clean and comfortable. The pool area is very nice & clean, towels provided, and also has an unobstructed view of the hill country. The owners and housekeeper we extremely friendly and personable. They provide nature trail guides in every room, as well as coffee, doughnuts, and fruit every morning. Toiletries are not provided in each room (not a deterrent, just worth mentioning). read more

The Mountain View Lodge is a great destination if you are looking for a totally unique place to stay. Staff there was friendly and helpful. The room was tidy and clean. A big part of the experience at the place you stay overnight is the staff you encounter there. From the moment I arrived I was greeted with hospitality and genuine care. I had just traveled 50 miles on my bicycle from San Antonio and ended up speaking to Janet for 15-20 minutes about the Lodge, my ride there, etc. The room was clean, offered everything I needed and has a gorgeous view from the balcony. There's even a nice nature trail behind the Lodge, for guests only, that is scenic and fun! We were called in the evening by staff and were offered to put our bicycles in a vacant room since they knew we had three bikes with us and they wanted us to have plenty of room. That is going above and beyond and is exactly the reason I will return here again!! read more

We had an amazing relaxing weekend at this wonderful "secret" spot! The views from the balcony and the pool were just beautiful. Comfy bed, fruit and cookies always available, and easy access to all our new favorite places to visit....and very reasonably priced. First time visiting and the southern hospitality is amazing. Everyone here is so friendly and makes sure you have a great stay. My room was not ready when it was time to check in so the owners offered to give me a different room at no extra cost but I declined and just waited till room was ready. They sure do go above and beyond for the guest. I was in no rush to get into the room. I enjoyed the view and the pool while I waited. I would recommend this spot to anyone visiting. read more

This is a cozy and secluded hotel that has a beautiful view. The staff is very friendly and the hotel is kept clean. The rooms are very comfortable. I booked this room last minute while driving up from South Texas. The pictures looked fine, but were selective. The views are pretty, the t.v. is very small, and the breakfast is small. It is a very quiet and simple lodge. You feel very secluded. My biggest complaint was the bed. It was really firm/hard. We barely slept the first night. When we asked if we could have a refund for the second night, they wouldn't do it. They did offer to switch us to another room with two queen beds. After we discussed all the beds were the same, there was no need to change rooms. We took some sleep aids the second night. The breakfast is donuts, prepackages snack bars, some fruit, and hot drinks. I think this place has a lot of potential, but I feel it was a bit overpriced. read more

I want to start by saying I don't usually leave reviews for places I visit good or bad. I feel that this is important. I made a reservation for a room to check in on a Saturday and leave Sunday. This location charged my card on Thursday before the stay. Check in was at 3 pm on Saturday we arrived just before 4 pm. I got the key to the room and went into room. This is where the issues started. The room had a very strong vinegar smell. The smell was so strong that I opened the door and turned on all fans to air it out. I walked into the bathroom area and figured out the problem. There was standing mop water on the floor surrounding the toilet and tub as well as under the sink in the bathroom. I took a towel and tried to dry the area out. I took the towel outside to air out. I went to tell the front desk and they said they would replace the towel and do something about the smell. We left and walked around the nature trail for an hour leaving door open to air out the room. we returned around 5 pm. This is now 2 hours after we were supposed to check in. The smell was still there so we let it air out for more than another hour but still the smell remained. It was cold outside and we had to close the door to try and get warm. We tried to stay but after another hour the smell began to give us both headaches. The time is now 730 pm 4.5 hours after check in and still the smell of vinegar was strong. We had to leave because we did not want to get migraines. I called after we left to let them know that we had left. I was told that I should have reported the issue to them. I informed them that I had. I guess they want you to spend your time making sure they do their job. The person I spoke to said that she would see what she could do about the issue. I am not sure what that meant. I called on Monday to follow up but no answer. I left a message around noon to call me back. I then called again around 6 pm and left another message, still no answer. I tried to call them 3 different times on Tuesday. Same result no answer. I even left a message on the website asking them to contact me. I still have not received a single call or email in response from them. I would not recommend anyone stay here. The customer service in my opinion in non existent. They take your money early and then treat you horribly and give little to no effort to make things right. To put into perspective I have stayed at a Motel 6 and was given better service and paid a third of the price. I will never stay here again and when asked I will make sure that I tell everyone not to stay here. read more

Being a native Texan in search of that out-of-state mountain view, this lodge was perfect. First off, Wimberley is one of the greatest towns that Texas has to offer and Mountain View Lodge is the best place to stay while enjoying it. Its convenient location allows you to easily access downtown Wimberley as well as being a mile away from some of the best restaurants in town all while giving you that peaceful separation from the city life. Mountain View Lodge offers the best view of the hillside as well as wildlife from anywhere on the property along with an on site nature trail that gives you a taste of adventure while being close to your home away from home. The hillside is always in view from the room balcony to the outdoor sitting area and even the pool deck. The couple that manages the property lives on site and will do anything and everything to make your stay memorable with their genuine hospitality. Not only do they offer great company, but they put out fresh breakfast each morning that consists of homemade donuts, muffins, granola bars and all the coffee condiments that one could need. On top of that, they always have out the BEST chocolate chip and pecan cookies. (I had about 5 a day) The woman in charge of room service has been there for years and keeps the rooms extra clean and is always willing to help. The rooms are unique and offer a great view from the patio. Staying here allowed us to explore the area around Wimberley while serving as a home away from home. I would recommend this place to everyone and would never consider staying anywhere else. We will be back again next year! read more
