I received texts regarding the door code & parking pass instructions in advance, I received a note regarding the place before we arrived (the dryer was broken, and they said they would help if we needed to make arrangements), and I was provided with maintenance contact info. I actually DID reach out because the tv remote was not working and they came by first thing in the morning (on a Saturday) to replace the batteries and show my mom how to use it. The guy was kind and professional! Secondly, the place I stayed (Valley Isle) was better than the pictures!!! The beach was beautiful (we saw a turtle the first day!) & the apartment was clean. That's the only part that I was super nervous about; I asked over the phone if there were any pest issues and I got the generic "this is a tropical island....we do regular pest control but cannot promise anything...." response. We were super diligent about cleaning & they kept all-purpose cleaner in the kitchen along with big spray. But, we actually only saw two bugs ever one day during our full week there (and they weren't even big and scary). I normally wouldn't even put that but it was such a major concern for me & I suspect others, too, that I wanted to mention it was seriously no big deal at all. Lastly, the price was great! I would give them 4 stars if the unit I rented from them was not so disappointing. I would give the unit 2 stars so I am giving the middle average of 3 stars. Lahaina shores unit 225 was far below expectations, and many things in the unit didn't work (fans, lights, etc...). Let's start with being right next door to a very loud and, after a couple of nights, very annoying luau that goes for 2-3 hours. The bed was cheap and very uncomfortable (no support at all). I contacted them asking about this and the pictures online and their response made it seem like a good choice, but there was no privacy at all. Noise and talking could be heard through the walls and the balcony that looked and I was told would provide a little privacy was literally right in the middle of kids playing in the pool making noise and people enjoying the common areas. I don't blame those people, but you are right in the middle of it and only being on the 2nd floor it was like you were part of the party. Not bad if that's what you want, but when you are trying to have a romantic trip with your spouse it was not as I was told. They also suggested this one because another property I was looking at was outdated and this was newer. However, it was very outdated and needs quite a bit of work especially for the amount being charged. The check-in was also a problem as the person at the front desk (a large, older Hawaiian woman) was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful. There was no one trying to help with luggage but there are carts available and I was glad to use one. The rest of the staff seemed more pleasant and helpful.

We were able to rebook our trip to August hoping that things would come down. Unfortunately Hawaii is still quarantining guests and we asked for another extension. Leanna was able to accommodate us without hesitation for 2021. As much as we would have liked to have visited Hawaii we know now is not the right time. Leanna has been very accommodating and appreciate everything she has done. Definitely would recommend and don't hesitate to book.

Overall Great, here's the pro's and con's of Aston at Papekea Resort, we rented 2 condos (side by…read moreside) on 4th floor Pro's: - Location is excellent in the heart of Lahaina, next to Kaanapali - lots of food and shopping nearby. - The beds are comfortable and it was well furnished with amenities and the car perk was nice! - The kitchen/washer and dryer were nice, though the washer and dryer were aged - The on site ammenties were nice, but no gym was a bummer Cons: - The unit def showed it's age and some of the appliances and furnishings did too. From fans not working to a drain issue, i did have to call them to fix it - The AC system being on a timer was really a negative experience - The stairs (going upstairs) were not ideal: from a loft area we called a bedroom and a different "setup" per condo, 1 with an extra bathroom vs 1 with extra beds - The stairs also were a bit unsafe/very narrow on heigh and width along with steepness - Though water front, there is no direct beach there, you have to walk over towards Kannapli to get to a sandy beach. Overall it was a good place, I expected a bit nicer quality for the price point but we had a great time when we settled in and got comfortable with the unit. it is great for a family adventure in Maui!

The furniture and appliances are all top quality and the furniture and beds very comfortable. Everything seemed quite new. I was amazed at the speed of the internet. Yes, I was on vacation but still needed to do some online work. I think it is 300mb speed. With that you can take advantage of the 4K TV to enjoy some movies but that is not the reason we went to Maui. Neither my wife or I were distracted by the construction taking place nearby. Overall the amenities of this condo at Honua Kai are outstanding. We would love to book vacation time again very soon.

We had a 2 story, 2 bedroom, 3 bath unit that worked perfectly for our family of 5. All 3 kids (ages 23, 20 and 18) shared the second bedroom (queen + bunks) and didn't mind at all. The 3rd bathroom really helped. This is our new favorite place in Maui, we highly recommend Kapalua and The Ridge. It's incredibly beautiful, quiet and clean. We loved that we could walk to everything: golf, beach, restaurants, grocery, tennis. We went to Lahaina and on a few excursions but honestly, the best part of the vacation was being in Kapalua and having a great condo to enjoy it. We found Ridge Realty to be super friendly and responsive. No hesitation giving them the highest rating as well. All around, an excellent experience!

When I asked her a few days ahead of time for an early check-in, she said she would call me back and never did. I had to chase after her to get an answer. She admitted to not calling me back and gave me the excuse of "it's been hell today". Not exactly what you want to hear when you're booking a vacation in paradise. Then, a couple of days after check in, we called and asked for some extra blankets around 10am. She said she would get someone to come out and bring some. We called again around 3pm and she acted like it was a brand new request and acted as if we were being silly to ask for additional blankets. The unit only had one extra blanket. The pamphlet that's left in the unit says to call them if you need anything at all and they will be happy to provide you with it. That's not the response we got at all when we simply asked for more blankets. If Terry had not been apart of the equation, I would give a better review. Unfortunately, she seems to be the face of the company. I would recommend booking with another company who is much easier to communicate with.

Now the bad: There are a group of people (we found out later that they own units here) who are not nice. They hang out at the pool daily, sit on the steps and talk very loudly. Then they complain to the workers if you play music near them. Our music was not loud at all and even the worker told us so and he felt bad. The workers say they play music by the pool too and it's only this group of owners who complain a lot. Oh and they give you dirty looks too. I usually love hanging out with older people but some of these people/ owners are just crabby & unhappy people. Hope that helps. Good luck if you decide to stay.

Dump your own trash, etc. So for this type of rental, it's top notch. Here's why: The location is perfect. 5 min walk to Whaler's Village. Only 20 min walk all the way to Black Rock, the furthest beach away in the cove. Quick drive out to Highway 30. Easy, and I mean easy access to Lahaina (south) and Honolua or Kampala Bays (north). Choose if you want to shop grocery at Times or Safeway, same distance. Really perfect location. Our apartment was incredible. It didn't face the ocean but that's ok. They have some that do, or the pool. It was huge. Nicely decorated and clean. Lots of space. Two bedrooms and sofa bed. Foosball table. Beach stuff to borrow and even a wagon to haul stuff. Parking garage right there. Always found an open space. Bell hops were helpful and friendly. They got nice gym, clay tennis courts, swimming pool, hot tub, and BBQ grills. All well kept. I could go on but why? It was great condo to stay.

Kaanapali Ali'i has been our go to spot on Maui for many years now. It usually features…read morecomfortable, spacious, fully furnished, well maintained 1-2 bedroom villas with full kitchens, refrigerators, microwaves and coffee makers at a great location on Kaanapali beach. Overall the spacious lush tropical grounds are beautifully maintained with two pools, a kiddie pool and two hot spas and featuring BBQ grills under a covered deck with chairs and tables. The whole complex is directly on the beach. There are no restaurant or bars on the property which is nice as it keeps crowds to a minimum. Unfortunately this visit fell well short. We rented two ninth floor villas, each with a different but beautiful view of the beach or the mountains. Unit 495 was a mountain facing two bedroom unit. It was clean, well maintained, probably recently renovated and up to the exemplary Kaanapali Ali'i standards we are used to. Unit 496 was an ocean facing villa showing it's age. One bathroom shower curtain showed spots of black mold.The lanai doors were incredibly hard to open requiring a maintenance person to come and repair them. The refrigerator ice/water dispenser leaked and there were stains from it and possibly something else down the front. Worst of all was the sickening smell of cigarette or possibly cigar smoke throughout the unit. This is unacceptable for a non smoking facility and quite unappealing. Electric air freshener units and odor disguising gel containers were provided but could only partly contain the smell in two of the bedrooms. The whole unit needs to be cleaned, sanitized and the lingering smoke scent removed. The bed in one of the bedrooms was regrettably very hard and painful for us to try to sleep on. Water to the entire complex had to be shutoff overnight for some kind of plumbing replacement work. Small plastic jugs of water were available at the front desk, this we found out by my son casually mentioning the inconvenience of the water shutoff to a facility staff member whi indicated that water would be delivered to the room upon request. When I called th efront desk, no delivery of this water to the room was available or offered. The outside bathrooms were under construction and we were directed to two porta potties, laughingly labeled as "Rest rooms", outside the buildings requiring a long walk to access. We should have been advised of this work before arriving as it was extremely inconvenient. The two large pools were getting shut down to access for maintenance or some other kind of issues. The two outside showers that are used to rinse off were unexpectedly shut down for a day so no rinsing off of sand. we noticed some younger guests simply entering the pools or spas with sand still over their feet and legs which resulted in a greta deal of sand at the bottom of the pools/spasOne night we attempted to access our two units only to finad all of our keys deactivated. The front desk could I understand any facility needs maintenance but having all this happen in the space of out two week stays was vey discouraging. I hope to return to Kaanapali Ali'i in the future but will definitely first be monitoring reviews and contacting the facility directly to try to determine what to expect. This is a discouraging turn in Maui vacation planning.
