I'm glad I picked Edgewater Dental, as I had a great first visit. The entire staff was friendly, and welcoming. The dental hygienist did a great job cleaning, and made it a seamless experience. Came in as a new patient for Dr. EMILY CHEN, but somehow Dr. SANA BAIG saw me instead. It was not a huge deal to me at all since she gave me some solid advice. Now my main complaint about this place. As new patient, they did Xray first, then Doctor check, then cleaning. The Xray technician was horrible. It took him a total of 25 mins to just to get everything correct. Never had someone took that long to get all the xray necessary. HYGINIEST. I've been going to dentist religiously for quite some time now and I have never, ever had a horrible hyginiest experience ever until I got here. Even working as solo, a lot of hygienist are able to properly do their job and not make a mess on patient's face. 1. Why does hyginiest gotta ask me if im okay every 20s? It was already established that i would raise my left hand if I wanted to stop whatever she was doing. 2. Too much water I might as well bring a soap and shampoo and take a shower. She wasn't attentive of overflowing water in mouth and would say "I was focused on cleaning your teeth".. 3. Why she gotta physically close my mouth after saying close your mouth? People know how suction works.. ‍‍‍ Like hello?? Never had a hyginiest physically close my mouth just to do suction! 4. She didnt Floss under my bridge and she was "teaching" me how to floss. She also left a broken piece of floss in between my teeth and she didnt noticed it until I said redo the part since i feel something stuck in my teeth. 5. Always looking whos walking by like hello focus your eyes on me. That's why you didnt notice if water is leaking out of my mouth. She looks like she's not confident with her work or asking validation if shes doing a good job‍‍ 6. Xray tech took forever to do xray smh. Do better. Perhaps they are fill in or relief DDSs but I don't know for sure. The cleanings are always gentle but it is really off putting and nerve wracking that I have been going to this dentist for the past several years, and yet it is rare that I see the same doctor twice. Shouldn't there be an effort with the scheduling system to set you up with the doctor who is most familiar with the patient? I even used Zocdoc and requested by name to see Dr. Obeid and was set with someone I had never seen before and wasn't notified about it either. I just wish there was some consideration for consistency with care in regards to the doctor. Also, on more than one occasion when I scheduled online and even over the phone for a cleaning - they scheduled me / allowed me to schedule on a day when there were only orthodontists in and thus couldn't do any cleanings for me. I called only to find out that they were closed due to electricity problems. We rescheduled for April. In April, i showed up expecting a cleaning. Instead it was just X-rays with a promise to reschedule the next month after they heard back from the insurance. In May, the called to cancel my appointment due to a burst pipe. Rescheduled for June. I showed up for my appt in June only to find out they'd only be cleaning the right side of my mouth and that they needed to reschedule for 2 weeks later, right before my trip to Ireland, to do the other side. I show up for my appt today only to find out that they somehow lost my appt and I need to reschedule AGAIN! I'm done with this place. I've rescheduled only because they've already submitted to my insurance and because only half my mouth is properly cleaned. I'm looking for somewhere else to go.

Billing department is not adequate and you cannot get any kind of coherent bill. They have some kind of running total but do not show any amounts for insurance payments. None of my previous dentists ever mentioned this. 2. Didn't fully remove one of them causing multiple infections and extreme pain. And I still do not have feeling in part of my lip months later. 3. Went in due to problems and they basically forced me to do another procedure on the spot with local anesthetic and said I had to pay another $900 for it! On top of all that, the office manager, Nineva, was very dismissive and unempathetic. I wouldn't wish the past month of nightmares and pain on my worst enemy. The worst thing is I feel like all of this was probably avoidable. On the bright side, one of the dentists there, Jason Brenner, was very nice and did what he could for me. The oral surgeon was also professional in attitude, though I'm wary of his skills.

They called 2 days before to tell me that "Oh, you have an HMO medical insurance, they'll cover this, but we're not an HMO provider..." Needless to say I was pretty pissed that they waited until 2 days before to tell me this after knowing our insurance info for 2 months. So, our doctor's office had to write up a referral and sent us here to OSA. We were able to get in about a week later, which was great since we thought we needed to get this done sooner rather than later. The other surgeon made it sound that it's good to do it within these next few months (and my son's schedule gets really busy starting in May, so we wanted to get things scheduled ASAP). Anyway, we came in, and it's nice that you can do all the paperwork online, definitely saves time! We go back to see the doctor. First, his assistant Mercedes was super nice. Very engaging, quick, and friendly. Then Dr. Herzog came in to look at his mouth and review the x-rays the other surgeon had emailed them. Imagine our surprise when Dr. Herzog said there's no reason to take the teeth yet!! He explained that he's still somewhat young, his jaw will still grow, and there's actually still room the way they are right now. The teeth haven't come in at all yet. He also explained that having to go in to take the teeth out is not an easy thing and doesn't need to be done if there's no discomfort, pain, headaches, or anything else! The other place was willing to just take his teeth, without really needing to! They were completely ready to put my kid under anesthesia to remove them, again just more risk that wasn't necessary. He did say things can change, but most likely it wouldn't be for several years! Obviously, we didn't/haven't had any issues with insurance, we just had the consult and only paid our copay. But I'm very grateful that we were cancelled from the other one, saving my kid the potential unnecessary surgery!

I went in with a blinding pain tooth ache...the kind if you just touch the tooth the pain…read morescreams...Dr. Michael Papa D took care of it. First of all he gives a great "numbing needle" honestly it doesn't hurt too much...I've had guys stick it into some primal nerve. He puts it in a zone that's sort of soft tissue and then when that numbs a little goes more for the tooth area, And He gets you numb. I'd swear some dentists are diluting the numbing agent...but he get's you numb! And did a great job with the extraction...no yanking just gently worked it out. Highly recommended!
