I didn't WANT to make the long trip out to Annandale after an agonizing workday…read more.. But it was worth the drive. After years of condescending doctors looking down their noses while chucking multitudes of medicines at me for my low back and sciatic pain , I was nearly at my wit's end. However, the moment Dr. Gorsen walked into the evaluation room to greet me, I felt like someone was finally in my corner. He had a jovial tone (although he took me seriously), read my chart thoroughly, reviewed my MRI's extensively, let me speak without cutting me off, actually LISTENED, and fully processed what I had to say before responding. I can tell when a doctor enjoys his work by his bedside manner, and this doctor has a stellar one. While he's extremely busy (engaged in various side projects, inventions, and work with sports injury patients), Dr. Gorsen still took his time with me, didn't make me feel rushed, did make me feel comfortable, and managed to quickly devise and explain to me several prospective lines of attack to get to the root of my suffering. He patiently conveyed what I didn't understand in lay terms, and even offered an interim solution between now and the next time I would follow up with him - going back and forth several times to his supply room, working with me to find just the right sized back brace, and educating me on how to use it. If a guy this busy can manage to have a good humor, patience, and sympathy for his patients, the rest of you cocky doctors with atrocious people skills running patient mills should be ashamed. Additionally, the staff was pleasant, the office wasn't crowded with over-booked patients, and I've definitely had longer waits. Because of Dr. Gorsen, for the first time in three years, the light at my tunnel's end doesn't just seem like a freight train. He may or may not be able to help see me back to restored health; but at the very least, he HAS offered two very important things to me which no other doctor has bothered to even attempt thus far - and those are sincerity and hope. He has accrued an array of accolades over the years, and I can see why. I would recommend this neurosurgeon to anyone - near or far.

I had reported over and over that I could not Swallow, so he also dehydrated the crap out of me, then blamed me for "not yielding". He then IGNORED the hospital's Dietitian who diagnosed me in late-stage Starvation with muscle wasting and SENT ME HOME ALONE unable to eat or drink while eating my own body to survive! When I desperately tried to stop him from discharging me while unsafe, I was booted out of the building by Hospital Security for being anxious! You'd be anxious too if sent home to starve! For over 40 days I reported 20 TIMES that I was starving and begged to be admitted for a feeding tube and fluids, which HE IGNORED! This idiot sat there and forced me to nearly STARVE TO DEATH! He is the most Grossly Negligent and unscrupulous doctors I have ever seen. He lied in my records about how great I was doing when I looked like a corpse. Then had the hospital FALSIFY ALL MY RECORDS to include defaming me and discrediting me to lessen my ability to sue. He is a lying sack of shit who destroyed my life and is probably too clueless to know it. If you want the most negligent, dishonest asshole surgeon on the planet to do your surgery, go to Dr. Silveri! Just don't expect to survive!

The medical assistant (I think it was Connor) was super nice and took me back to the examining room to go over the issues I was having. After that I had x-rays and the technician was super nice/efficient. Dr. Seal came in shortly after and we agreed I'd work on core strengthening through physical therapy and if the sciatica/piriformis didn't improve after a month I'd have an MRI. Unfortunately I was unable to get in for physical therapy at the Fairfax office, but Dr. Seal told me I could go anywhere for the physical therapy (didn't have to be with Town Center Ortho). I started core exercises on my own and then found a studio for pilates utilizing a reformer, which I've started over the past couple of weeks and that's been going very well. My experience with Town Center Ortho was very positive, staff was nice and efficient and I did not wait more than 5-10 minutes, after finishing my paperwork, before I was called back. The only negative I'd note and it's very subjective - based on me running on the warmer side - I was in a back corner room that was getting a lot of sunlight that day and it was really warm... I was tempted to open a window lol.

After temporary therapy, I was told to go through pre-op testing which involved lab testing, an EKG with a cardiologist and review by my primary physician. Two weeks later I called the office as I hadn't heard from them. I was told that the procedure was denied by my insurance company. They said they had left me a voicemail, which I never received. He immediately ordered X-rays, blood work, and an MRI, and then referred me to a specialist, ruling out a cervical issue, which I initially suspected. I was very satisfied to see the genuine interest and dedication he shows toward each of his patients. I observed how carefully he reviewed my X-rays and ordered the necessary studies to fully understand my condition. At my follow-up appointment, I had the opportunity to be seen by his PA, Jennifer Leeman, PA-C, who performed additional tests in the office, consulted with Dr. Hughes, referred me to a neurologist, and ordered additional blood tests to further evaluate elevated lab results. I 100% recommend these healthcare professionals. They are extremely professional and care for their patients as if they were members of their own family. From the bottom of my heart, I am truly grateful to Dr. Hughes and Jennifer Leeman.

I saw him for the first tome few weeks back and i thought he was caring enough to listen and despite some of the negative review about his bedside manner i felt he was attentive enough. So he sent me for CT and MRI and told me to book the follow up with his nurse Jennifer since its the fastest way to get an appointment and he added " but I will be there as well"so i did and went to the fairfax to discuss my results... i was called in pretty quickly and the assistant who is clearly unqualified to work there asks me if i am pregnant or done either my periods... what? I am over 60 then she takes my pressure and tells me its 69 over 40 ... i asked her again and she said you haven't had breakfast thats why'! Really? The nurse took it again and it was the normal range as i expected. Then comes to my results obviously she had not even looked at them or discuss them with the doctor reading what the radiologist written snd briefly looking at the images and giving me what i could read myself . Very disappointed because i had questions that were not answered by the doctor who i paid to see because he never came in as he said he would. I dont think discussing results should be done with a nurse who clearly not an expert in imaging or diagnosis. I got nothing out of this visit so waste of my money and time and still dont know what really is causing my issues. Oh and the ladies at check out need to be politer and nicer either way the patients.

I hurt myself during the birth of my first child 19 years ago by tearing muscles in my back and glutes that destabilized my lower spine. I was in excruciating pain. The only therapist who could ever relieve my pain was Melanie. I have been her patient for several other injuries because she's the only one I trust. I love that she's hands on! Currently, I have pain in the left side and back of my left leg, which makes it difficult for me to walk. I'm able to use other therapists with zero charge for my insurance, but I choose Melanie because I'd rather pay some money out-of-pocket than to waste my time with other therapists who are unfortunately not as capable and knowable as Melanie. When I wasn't able to consult Melanie, I visited four therapists, an OMM doctor, and a great chiropractor, but Melanie is the only one who could fix my pain. I cannot say enough about how amazing, professional, knowledgeable, and kind Melanie is. You are in very good and capable hands with her.

I called to request my xrays and they can't upload them so I requested a CD to pickup. The CD wasn't ready when they said it would be and I had to wait 15 min for it. For my original appointment most of the few bins of snacks for patients were empty. Not a big deal, but shows poor management. I cannot speak to other surgeons, but I can about Dr. Kader…read more Do not use Dr. Kader as your surgeon. Though I was recommended a different surgeon, Dr. Murry, I went with Kader to get the surgery done before the 2016 year was out. I paid for that mistake. Kader made no major slipups, but in doing the C5-C6 fusion he ended up tightening the spaces around the foramina, the places where the nerves traveling to the arms and back exit the spine - even though I had told Kader that I was an active amateur musician, and that playing was a big part of my life. Within two weeks after the surgery I started noticing symptoms down my arms and into my hands that were not there before the surgery. Except for brief periods, they did not go away, and slowly grew worse and worse. Kader refused to see any problem and only told me to take more drugs - even a year and a half after the surgery. Finally, my pain doctor recommended Dr, Ellegala of Sonospine. Three months ago he opened up the spaces that Kader closed, and my hands already feel stronger and more dexterous than they have in years. Ellagala's surgery technique isn't covered by insurance, and I had to pay $30K, but he fixed Kader's bungle, so it was worth it. But I'd rather not have had to pay it in the first place. When you pick a surgeon, you want someone who is committed to doing the best he or she can for you. Abraham Kader is not that surgeon, so he is not the surgeon you want. Go with Murry if you can.
