There are exactly ZERO instances where you want to visit a root canal specialist but, if you find yourself in such a scenario, ARCS is where you should land. After being in pain all weekend, I made an emergency dentist appointment that resulted in a referral to ARCS. The office offered to call for me and I was told I could come right then. For context, my dentist appointment was at 3:20pm and roughly by 3:40pm I was headed to ARCS. The office is clean and the front desk staff were helpful and professional. I overheard one team member speaking to another patient in Spanish so it's nice to know the environment is accessible and inclusive in this regard as well. I was called back after a short wait and X-rays were taken. Dr. Fakhari then arrived to perform some tests (these suck but are necessary to confirm a root canal is the right treatment) but before the test began he spent time speaking with me and had, quite possibly, the most pleasant, patient, and caring demeanor of any endodontist I've ever met (yes, unfortunately I have seen down this road more than once). When I was weeping during the numbing process, the aide whose name I believe was Alyssa, kindly comforted me, provided tissues, etc. Dr. Fakhari also took things very slow and checked in often. They were both very reassuring. I don't think it's possible to enjoy anything about a root canal so the fact that every other aspect of the experience is positive (including noise canceling headphones, a blanket, and Spotify) means so much. I'd very much love to never need to visit ARCS again but I'm nonetheless very grateful for their immediate availability, kindness, and professionalism across the board. read more

The first word that I think of is WOW! I had an appointment on Wednesday with my regular dentist, who told me I needed an emergency root canal. I called Advanced Root Canal Specialists, and they asked me how quickly I could get there--the dentist would wait. I was an hour away, and it was approximately 3:30 pm. I arrived around 4:40, which isn't too bad during rush hour. When I walked in, I felt like I was at a spa. The room was gorgeous, with a fireplace going for ambiance. (No heat was emitted, as it was 102° F outside). Two very kind and helpful ladies greeted me and offered me something to drink. I chose tea, since they had various types of calming tea. Afterall, I was getting a root canal, and no one likes going to the dentist. I waited about 10 minutes before I was taken back to a room. Tamara and Dr. Fakhari were amazing. I told them prior to beginning that I am not a fan of the Novocain needle. Tamara put dark sunglasses on me, due to the bright lights; gave me a weighted blanket; and offered me headphones to listen to music. All the while, Dr. Fakhari was giving me a needle that I felt, but in a gentle way. He spoke and joked with me while the Novocain took effect. Then, he gave me a second needle to numb the rest of my mouth. I realized it and said, "I see what you did there." He chuckled, "I didn't do anything," and then, smirked. It was the best experience I have had with the painful part of any dental procedure. Dr. Fakhari told me up front that I have a crack in my tooth, and he may not be able to save it. While it was not news I wanted to hear, I appreciated the transparency and honesty. After what seemed like a few minutes, Tamara took the headphones off of my ears. (I was on the fourth song of the playlist). I was waiting for the news that Dr. Fakhari couldn't save my tooth. Instead, he said, "All done. Not so bad." I couldn't believe it was over. He gave me care instructions, and I left--at 5:45 pm. Wow! I hope I don't need a root canal again in the future, but if I do, I will definitely be calling Dr. Fakhari. read more

I had to go here for an emergency Root Canal the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. my Dentist recommended them after I broke a tooth that had a deep cavity. Where do I start. When I called I spoke to Hanh(she was very nice and sweet) I explained to her what happened and that my insurance was renewing on Monday 12/2/2024 and that I was also going to see my son for Thanksgiving out of state and asked was there any way to fit me in. After checking she was able to get me an appointment with Dr Barak. When I arrived at the office the atmosphere was so relaxing I encountered Erica at the front desk she was extremely friendly top notch Customer service. Then on to the back I met Michelle she was such a sweetheart so nice she kept me company until the doctor was ready. let me tell you I do not like going to the dentist let alone having a Root Canal. When I got to the office I was so nervous I don't like needles or pain. when Dr. Barak came in he made me feel so comfortable he calmed my nerves he talk to me for about 20mins about the procedure. Then it came to to get started. First the numbing I didn't feel a thing from the beginning to the end I was actually surprised that everything was done in about 45min give or take a few minutes. I have had this same procedure done and it was a very traumatic experience. I also met Dr. Elman and he was equally as nice and Friendly. I am sure all the doctors in the practice have the same chair side manner or close to it however I can only speak on my experience with Dr. Barak I would say in closing if you are looking for a Endodontist and are in need of a Root Canal. Don't hesitate to run to Advance Root Canal to see Dr. Barak he is that good and amazing. When I tell you that I did not feel one needle I did not everything went smoothly and I had music in my ears from the headphones as to block out the noise. I cannot say enough positive things. When I reached out to schedule they accommodated me by interacting via text (which was my preference). They quickly scheduled an appt and ensured my coverage so I walked in knowing 100% what the visit would cost. I walked into a GORGEOUS marble lobby with a pretty fireplace. The front desk staff was kind and supportive. The experience itself was PAIN FREE for TWO root canals. They explained everything every step of the way. When I was critical of myself and my teeth, the doctor quickly said, I am not going to judge or criticize you, I am here to help you. During the procedure, I was given a weighted blanket which was not something I even realized would help but it made a difference! Noise-cancelling headphones hooked to Spotify. When asked what music I wanted to hear I hesitated and they immediately handed me the iPad to allow me to choose for myself. When the headphones weren't staying on they adjusted them so that I would be comfortable. They called my prescriptions in, answered all of my questions and were just all around WONDERFUL. Dr Elman was great from start to finish! At the consultation, he gave me all my options and let me know that I would be fine (for now) if I chose to do nothing. I decided to get the apicoectomy. During the surgery, Dr Elman was lighthearted and friendly--as were the assistants Brittany and Deanna. They answered all my questions as the procedure went on and were very gentle. (As gentle as you can be when during this procedure.) The noise-canceling headphones tuned to my public Spotify playlist was a nice touch! And Dr Elman called me last night to see how I was doing!! I have a follow-up visit next week. If anything goes wrong, I'll be very surprised but I'll update my review. So far, I'm pleased. Maybe I'll get another one! read more

My recent canal at Advanced Root Canal Specialists could not have been better. I have had 2 other root canals done at other facilities and this experience leaves them in the dust. It is a beautifully decorated. The staff was professional and friendly. The procedure felt more like going to a spa than an endodontist. I scheduled a root canal with this company. I filled all required paper work and insurance information online, right away. I waited for the procedure for weeks just to get a phone call from Advanced Root Canal two days before the appointment to tell me that they are not fully in network with my insurance company and that I would have to pay mostly from pocket (over $800). I don't think they were purposely trying a bait and switch tactic but I wish they would have let me know right away about their issue with the insurance company since they had my info from the beginning. Now I need find another specialist and wait more weeks with a toothache. Very disappointed. read more

I hate to say it, but I Love my dentist (Dov Elman, DDS, MMSc). My dentist could not complete my root canal because the root was too deep and referred me to Advanced Root Canal Specialists (ARCS). I went Friday, May 19, 2022. Dr Elman went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and pain free. He was fast , effective, efficient, friendly, and pain free. He explained what he was doing and why. He finished in less than an hour and gave me after appointment instructions. He called me the next day just to ask how I was doing and to make sure I was okay. On top of that, the price was very reasonable. I recommend the ARCS to anyone who needs a root canal. read more

I'll start by saying I have the most earth shattering phobia of needles. So a root canal was my kryptonite. In the office filling out paper work I almost passed out. Then I get introduced to Dr.Elman and right off the bat he calmed me down and gave me the play by play. Told me I wouldn't feel anything and gave me noise cancelling headphones to listen to a podcast while he worked. I've never had a better experience in a medial environment. I needed an emergency root canal during the COVID-19 Epidemic due to an abscess that was causing severe pain. Dr. Elman is the man you want. Took the time to explain everything, made sure I was in no pain during the procedure, called me at home later to make sure I was in no pain that evening. I went from being in excruciating pain and unable to sleep or function to in almost no pain in the course of a few hours after his treatment. I have been referring my patients who need root canal treatment to Dr. Richard Fein for the past 17 years. I always admired his work ethic, precision, and attention to detail. Whenever my patients return to me for restoration of the tooth after his work, I always ask them about their experience, and every single one of them say that the whole experience was positive - from admission, getting numb, and being comfortable throughout the entire procedure. He does the root canal procedure very well. I don't ever remember if any of his work has been unsuccessful, even though according to text books the success of root canal is not 100%. Recently I was the patient going through the root canal myself! I had a chance to experience his professionalism, bed side manner, and skills. Dr. Fein knows his head and neck anatomy well. He used numbing medicine, Lidocaine, to block all the possible nerve pathways. Even those extra special nerve branches that some of special patients have, C3, would not be left without proper level of anesthesia. I had no pain during or after the procedure. Of course the best way to avoid dental or health problem is prevention. But if you ever need root canal, I recommend you choose Dr. Richard Fein. read more

I was in there a few months ago to get a root canal with Dr. Elman.... I am not the easiest patient, perhaps more "dramatic" as an adult should be as going to the dentist is my least favorite thing to do. So, learning that I needed a root canal made it worse! Not to mention, I was in the middle of relocating to another state and the dental insurance companies were not being cooperative... I had to get the root canal and temporary crown in MD (old insurance provider) and find another dentist to complete the work; permanent crown in Richmond VA (new insurance provider). This caused more anxiety for me but Dr. Elman (and your staff) was very accommodating and empathetic to my situation. Needless to say, the root canal wasn't bad and when I went to my new dentist in VA for the permanent crown, he and his staff complimented Dr. Elman's work! They said he did a really good job with the root canal and it made their job a lot easier. I explained to them how frustrating I was with the insurance companies and ironically, the only thing that wasn't a "pain" was the root canal. :) I wanted to share this and hope that this message gets back to Dr. Elman (and your staff) for his great work and their professional customer service. Honestly, who ever enjoys going to the dentist? let alone needing a root canal? I had such a horrible experience elsewhere that the pain I endured left me in tears. I had one retreatment and one root canal with Christopher Jin. He is absolutely wonderful! His level of confidence and his patience with the 100 questions I had since I was so nervous made this a great experience. He was fast, efficient, and it was all pain-free! My dentist called them on a Friday to see if they could fit me in for a root canal. I was given a 4:45 pm appointment with Dr. Jin. The first not so good thing was when he gave me a deep jab with the novocain that caused me extreme pain. I'm not sure if he hit a nerve or what but it was not an auspicious start. He worked on my tooth for about an hour or more perhaps. He then stopped to say that he could not finish it because it was more "complex" than he first thought. He said I would have to come back the next week but everything should be okay because he had put a bunch of medicine in there and that the pain should subside in a couple of days and I could use ibuprofen for the pain. Well the pain turned out to be excruciating. I had to work the next day as it was a very important event (with county council present) and I barely made it through. I also had to go to a good friend's daughter's quinceañera and I just couldn't make it through that at all. By the evening I had taken the allowed amount of Ibuprofen and Tylenol combined and was still in pain. I called the after hours number and spoke to Dr. Elman who was very nice and told me I could up the dose safely to 800 mg. The next morning I called the offices and was told Dr. Jin would not be in until 11:30 am. I told the receptionist that I had been there on Friday but my root canal was not finished and that I was in extreme pain and needed to be seen right away. She put me on hold and told me I could come in at 3:30 pm. I asked if there was a doctor I could speak to and she said they were all with patients. At that point I called my dentist who was happy to write me a prescription for Percocet. While I was on my way to see my dentist, Dr. Jin called to say I could pick up the prescription from his office and be seen by him. I was not feeling really positive about him at this point but I went anyway. He then gave me a long lecture about how I didn't show enough gratitude when he fit me in on Friday at 4:45 pm. One, I was not aware it was a special thing to still be open at 4:45 pm on a Friday but I'm not a medical doctor so I work normal hours. I also have a few degrees but no medical ones myself and didn't know people with degrees or medical degrees should be treated with greater deference than any other person. My mother only had a 4th grade education and taught me to be well mannered to everyone but especially to those people who are older than I am so I was taken aback to be scolded by someone who is probably half my age (doctor or not). Since he could not guarantee he would have enough time to finish my root canal, I said I'd rather wait to have it done by Dr. Elon at 3:30 pm and take the prescription for pain medication until then. Dr, Elon did a great job...did not hurt at all when he gave me the shot of Novocain. Offered me headphones to listen to music and in 2 hours I was out of there. So I give 5 stars to Dr. Elon, who comes across as a genuinely compassionate and caring individual and 1 star to Dr. Jin. Dr. Jin did call my home after my procedure with Dr. Elon to see how it went. I found the fake concern unnecessary. I imagine he is a competent doctor but needs to work on his bedside manner and remember that scolding someone who is old enough to be your mom about showing what you think is the proper amount of gratitude is only going to result in more reviews like this one. read more

Not sure why i don't see other reviews but these guys are great. the front desk was friendly and efficient. only issue was i asked to be wait listed for earlier appointment and they called me at 2pm on Friday for a 330 appt (which i couldn't take at that point). But Dr. Elman was on time -they came to get me and explained what was going to happen. Dr. Elman came in and had a whole notebook with pictures to explain what he was going to do and why. Then he offered me noise cancelling headphones! (not the $300 kind but they worked enough!). I didnt think to ask what i would be listening to but i had brought an ipod. But he checked on me throughout the whole procedure, explained what was happening and why he was doing whatever he was doing. For a root canal it was an awesome experience. He has the bedside manner that, while i cant say its going to waste as an endodontist, but man, he could make any patient feel comfortable. read more
