The staff were all wonderful and friendly. I give a big thank you to the Dentists helper, she was wonderful and I can't remember her name. I've never felt so much compassion before. The only con was, it was expensive to get one tooth pulled. I'm on disability and can't afford dentists. My tooth was causing enough pain to make pulling the tooth seem like the best option, but Dr. Abdullah was confident that an alternative procedure could save my tooth, correct the problem, and allow my mouth/gums/bone heal naturally. The difference in the x-rays before and after was dramatic in the visible recovery, which matched his description of the process which he gave before I decided to proceed. Dental surgery is never an enjoyable experience, but the experience of Dr. Abdullah led him to make the correct diagnosis and treatment recommendation, and a good execution of the actual surgery. Sometimes, even if done correctly, these surgeries might not be successful, but the skill and knowledge of Dr. Abdullah increases the probability of success. Throughout the process, he was cordial and excited at the prospect of getting the best outcome for my tooth.

I didn't realize at the time that this was an incredibly aggressive diagnosis: He didn't take the time to find out whether I had the actual symptoms associated with an infected tooth. Regardless, I went to this practice. When I mentioned to Dr. Majlessi what the dentist had written on the referral--that he couldn't get me numb--she said, "Oh, we don't need to do any tests. You definitely need a root canal." Like an idiot, I trusted her. Now that I've had this procedure, I truly understand what a devastating, last-ditch option it is (I've been told off-handedly by a few dentists that I could, whoops, lose my tooth and need an implant quite easily). I'm horrified that a trained professional would waive the testing required to know if an invasive, expensive, and potentially destructive surgery is necessary. I've suffered pain and discomfort in the years following and expect that I'll suffer more and be tens of thousands of dollars poorer down the road because of something I very well may not have needed. The kicker was when I got a bill for $150 more than a year later from a procedure they implied my insurance would cover. This practice has a sign in their office saying that they were rated highly by the community in the 1990s. They might want to think about how that looks more than 30 years later.

The head dentist has done some intensive work on my mouth over the years (even though the aesthetics were not the best). I often complained about my smile as I told Dr. K I NOT LIKE my smile (based on the work he did). Recently, the head dentist performed what I feel was faulty bridge work over implants. I paid quite a bit out of pocket for the dental work. The bridge failed in 6 months (this work should have lasted many years); besides that the work looked poor & I was uncomfortable with my smile). I reached out to the practice about fixing the faulty work and addressing the aesthetics. The dentist agreed to see me but stated because my insurance changed, to repair or even review his faulty work the visit would be OUT OF POCKET! Why should I have to pay this dentist again to fix his faulty work? I declined to accept the appointment. I have paid him more than enough money over what must be 20 years. Patronize this practice at your own risk but don't expect a perfect or quality smile. The hygienists were great and the dentist himself was very professional and friendly. He starts with a little chit chat then dives in, he never probed too much about personal life but does try to make you comfortable. My first time I went in for a routine cleaning and he could tell I had not gotten a cleaning in a couple of years. He didn't make me feel bad just reminded me that it was necessary, and he spent extra time to clean my teeth one by one to chip off all the excess plaque! By the end of it my teeth felt like they were made up of individual tooth, sooo clean! And they gave me a toothbrush, small travel toothpaste, and a small travel size floss set after each cleaning (score! replenishes my travel toiletry ;)). I really like him and I really like the office personnel. They seem to take all insurance. And they will do their best to see what the insurance does cover and let you know. They have never seem "too busy to help". Very friendly place. They are open a little late on Tuesdays to accommodate those that can't make their regular weekday hours, which is what I have to take advantage of. They are open Saturdays too but not Sunday. they are located right next to the lake at the bottom of the steps, I almost missed it the first time. Be sure to arrive just a tad early to fill in paperwork, they always make you do that too see if anything has changed. From my experience, they are usually on time, and I leave the office within an hour. I really like that they don't rush. I think I've found my dentist :)

Dr. Shamad was HORRIBLE to me when putting in crowns--which I'm starting to think weren't even needed. He didn't give me enough novocaine or time for it to work before insisting that he had to start working--and he poured cold cement on an exposed nerve, which was the most pain I ever experienced in my life. He blamed ME for the pain. No bedside manner at all; no empathy. That was the final straw. Years later: my son needed emergency dental surgery because the crowns installed here were not done properly and infection had set in underneath them. Also, all three of the crowns that Samad gave me fell off and had to be redone by another dentist, costing me lots of money. Do not let this guy near your mouth. Maybe the other dentists are okay. I don't know. But proceed with extreme caution if you must go there.
