I was referred to CTI Physical Therapy for an EMG to be performed by Dr Schaney. No one explained…read moreto me what this test entailed nor was I sent information beforehand. I got into the room, he asked me some preliminary questions & then had me lay down on an exam table that had a pillow but no paper sheet. Dr Schaney didn't explain anything he was doing until he was doing it & I was shocked, in disbelief even, when he mentioned he was "going to use the needles now." I'm extremely sensitive to pain & pass out nearly every time I have to get blood taken. My PCP said that I have a sensitive vasovagal response with some syncope, as they always ask me if I have seizures when they wake me up. This is just how I am. Dr Schaney and I had been joking around up to this point so I didn't believe him about the needle until he pulled it out. So I explained to him my sensitivity, that I had no idea this was a part of the test, (he almost seemed to imply that I should have known,) and he said, "in 40 years of practice I've never lost someone" in response. Sure enough, I grew pale as he tapped the needle into my arm at different points. Thankfully the table was up against a wall that I could brace myself against. When he was done with my right arm, he told me to turn around & lay the other way. At that point I was so close to going out, that I needed to lay there & just breathe. When I adjusted so he could do the other arm, he opted NOT to do the EMG portion of the test because he was concerned with how pale I'd gotten. Duh. Why didn't he believe me? Why didn't he explain the test before he did anything? Had he performed the EMG on my left arm, I would have passed out. I felt very nauseous. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience & I left the practice very dizzy, nauseous & confused. The check-in ladies were even staring at me like I was acting strange but none of them thought to ask if everything was ok. Not a very comforting environment. I still can't believe no one prepared me for the SEVERAL INSERTIONS OF A NEEDLE INTO MY NERVE. I'm disappointed at how presumptuous & unconcerned Dr Schaney was throughout the entire ordeal.

This provider has been in business for almost 30 years. The staff is knowledgeable and caring. They…read moreknow when to push you and when to back off. I visited this office for two months due to a pinched nerve in my neck and am extremely happy with the results. I thought I was doomed to surgery, but now I feel better than ever.
