I had nothing but positive experiences with Advanced Realty in the four + years we rented through them. Every maintenance request was answered quickly and efficiently. Their communication was great, especially working with both us (as renters) and the homeowner. All my interactions with them were hassle free (even during covid). We rented without ever seeing the place ourselves when we moved to Boone. They made the process extremely easy given the circumstances. While we didn't originally intend to stay in the house as long as we did, we didn't have a single complaint in our time working with them. What's more, we wound up buying the house and transitioning out of the contract was painless and hassle free. I would definitely recommend them based on my experience and if we ever decide to rent this house out ourselves we will most certainly be giving them a call. read more

If I could give them a zero review I would. My daughter is a student at Appalachian State and is leasing one of their properties with a roommate for her junior year. This place was infested with fleas to begin with. We had to sit all the foggers two times. The floor was disgusting and the carpets were stained. It is clear it was not cleaned when she moved in. She's only been there for about a month and a half and the doorknob in the living room stopped working. They are having to crawl in and out of their living room window. She called me upset because here it is the weekend and the office is closed. I did a little research and found an emergency contact so I called and left a message with my number and my daughters number. No one has had the courtesy to call me back, they texted me. I told her it was unacceptable to have two young ladies living in one of their apartments in this kind of condition. It is not safe. She got snippy with me and refused a phone call. She then said she was blocking me via another text. Thank goodness for screenshots. I am saving this information in case I need to file a complaint or when I contact the whistleblower hotline on the local news station. My experience with this company has been quite unpleasant. I was shown a bill for a cleaning company, but when I arrived at the apartment, it in no way fit my personal understanding of the word "clean." They also have a bill for cleaning carpets, but there are still stains in them, and for the longest time they had an odor not unlike wet dog. When I moved in, the apartment was flea ridden. They did come and spray for fleas, but this took far longer than I expected it would. I don't know how there could have been fleas in an apartment that was supposed to have been cleaned well, but your guess is as good as mine. I also had trouble with a wasp nest outside that I had to call several times about. My roommate and I have had calls ignored on more than one occasion. Every time I have gone into the office, I did not feel that I was treated as well as a customer should be treated. There was even one occasion where I went in with my roommate, and we both came out feeling like we had been openly disrespected. read more

Horrible experience. Apartment I moved into was disgusting, left it much cleaner than when I moved in and still got charged massive cleaning fee. Building was vandalized while I was out of town and I was billed for it. Ended up losing my entire security deposit because of vandalism to building that occurred while I was out of town. They blamed me because my apartment had "valuable items" in it. Told me if I wanted my security deposit back, I could take them to court. Stay away! read more

I have never had a better renting experience! The agency is always so kind and eager to help. It is a big blessing to be renting from them!! Last year, I rented from Hidden Creek and always ran into problems with hidden fees, disrespectful staff and the space itself was pretty gross. My new place with Advanced realty is AMAZING. So nice, especially for college housing. I haven't had any weird fees, and the appliances all work great. The people that work there are so kind and have really helped out my roommate and I as we looked for subleasers since we are graduating in December. I can't recommend them enough!! My son and his friends rented a place being managed by these folks. Never again! The ladies in the office are clueless. They have no idea about coustomer service, have no idea how a management company should be run. Some issues have come up at the home, when you call these people they sit on the phone in complete silence after you have told them your grievance. Don't even know if they are still there!?! The. Lived in a townhome managed by Advanced for two years. Maintenance was always a pain in the ass. It took them A YEAR AND A HALF to fix a problem that literally would have taken them ten minutes. This happened on two different occasions with two problems. Then they have the nerve to tell me that they aren't going to give me back my full security deposit back because Tammy Dunnigan said " I felt like you did" ALL WITHOUT PROOF. They do not care about you! My apartment wasn't clean when I moved in, it was obvious that the place hadn't been painted in YEARS and the carpet was old and stained. I cannot believe that someone would tell me what MY HOME looked like for before and after I moved in. I know a heck of a lot more about that townhome then they ever will. My kid is an MBA candidate at the ASU business school and has three room mates that are great tenants. Sadly, they chose this company to find them a rental. Awful, run away. When appliances broke they refused to have them replaced. When mold was covering the basement they painted it and applied bleach which simply hid the mold and fed it more moisture. When fire code violations reached the point of danger and doors and windows wouldn't close let alone lock) they were threatened with weekly inspections if they "continued to be a problem". Moving day to move my daughter into her new apartment, we find less than sanitary conditions. Was told it was inspected and cleaned. We had a list of things wrong that my husband had to call several times and get "ugly" to get a response to have them correct the costliest. Four or five times we just went and made the investment and fixed things ourselves. It took a year to "fix" the bug screen. THE GROSSEST thing was upon finding the downstairs 1/2 bath door locked. We called and they said it would be days before they would be able to get out there. My husband was able to get the lock undone and to our horrible SURPRISE, the toilet was FULL of shit !!!! No joke and literally had been there since the last tenant had moved out. Water not turned on yet so we had to just close the door. Now tell me --- if you had someone inspect and "clean" an apartment ---- how could you miss this on the first floor!!!! I truly do not think anyone walked in there before we moved her in. After several days' discussion, I agreed to extend my stay in Banner Elk by one day to accommodate a showing by this company at 9 am on a Thursday despite the fact that I was working and out-of-town. I sat at the house, and sat, and finally called, where the broker in charge said "Oh, she is out sick and she was going to call you." ... this is after a confirmation email the night before. The Oak St property has been a construction site hazard for a year. Trash and construction debris is everywhere. I know of at least one student who stepped on a nail. This company is terrible. I moved in to a house over 3 years ago when there were different property managers. The house I moved into was a complete disaster. We had to deep clean everything because the tenants before had trashed the place. My mom bought new blinds for every room (4 bedrooms, living room and kitchen). My roommate and I bought a carpet cleaner because the carpet was so disgusting. When we moved out at the end of this July we were told we would get our deposit back at the end of August. We were just told that we were charged for repainting the walls, cleaning the carpet, and getting rid of the trash instead of Town of Boone. My roommate was told by the maintenance men not to call Town of Boone to come get the old furniture that was on the street because they would take care of it. We cleaned the carpets before moving out and the property manager told us that they were replacing the carpets anyways so why were we charged for them cleaning them???? They had to repaint the walls anyways because we lived there so long and we shouldn't have been charged. During our stay there we called them to get lights fixed because on of our outside lights wouldn't work and they never came to fix it. It always took weeks to get a response about any maintenance work. I'm not a huge fan of any rental company in Boone, but definitely stay away from Advanced Realty. They were much easier to work with when the old property managers were there. These ladies have no idea what they are doing. They also tried to tell us that our lease said something different than our copy. The lease we signed was with different property managers and never signed a new lease. The only thing we signed each year was a paper renewing our lease. I hope these ladies get fired or this company gets better because they are the most horrific people to work with. I'm surprised they don't end up in small claims court more often. read more

I'm confused as to why this management company has such bad ratings. We have been renting from them since July and have had nothing but good experiences. Macy is AWESOME. We recently had issues with our water and she was on the ball with getting things fixed, we didn't even have to worry about it at all. She dealt with the Town of Boone on adjusting our bill as well as with the plumber with getting a speedy repair. She's been nothing but kind and accommodating since day 1. Any other repairs that we have requested have been fixed within 24 hours as well. Our townhouse is older, but is still very nice and we couldn't ask for more for the price we love! I rented from them for two years. I have always paid my rent on time. When I moved out we cleaned it to the tee. Before we moved into this apartment the previous tenant had left belongings in the bathroom! Which was not clean. We also had electricity problems which was the breaker in their apartment. Hardin Park is where we rented. It took them a month to fix. So our electricity would flicker on & off. We just got our deposit back. The carpet which we have complained about before moving in.. looked to have been there since the 1950's. ITS DISGUSTING! They claim it was soiled & knocked 120 dollars off our deposit.
