For over 15 years I have suffered with chronic shoulder pain - torn labrum, torn rotator, etc. I meet with Dr Mullen, and he clearly explained the options. Given my situation he recommended should replacement surgery. The surgery was 4 Dec. If you want to be treated with respect and not strong-armed into doing something that you are not comfortable with, I wouldn't go here. My husband went in for a consult with Dr. Mullen for a knee replacement and he brought his CT scans and X rays that were only taken a week ago. He wasn't comfortable getting a second set of x rays in such close proximity. Rather than having any compassion or understanding for a desire to not take any more additional x rays, Dr. Mullen basically told him that it was his way or the highway. In that sense, he made the decision whether to seek a knee replacement with him very easy. Hard no. Even if the is man is skilled his bed side manner was offensive. read more

Y'all. No. I went with a friend who was in a car accident last year and has had severe knee issues since. The office itself is kind of tucked away in a maze of medical offices, so it's not super easy to find. The staff inside the building are super nice (with the exception of Doctor Mullen), so that was nice. My friend had X-rays done by one of the assistants (nurses?) and was then directed to wait in the room for the doctor. We waited for maybe 20 minutes and then the doctor came in. Here's how it went: - he didn't introduce himself until my friend was on the table and he was manipulating her knee. - he asked her the issue, but didn't listen to her response - he asked for her MRI from her previous specialist, but she didn't have it (no one told her to take it). The doctor was *EXTREMELY* rude about the fact that she didn't have the MRI results - she told him she has arthritis in her back and *without* checking her or seeing anything concrete, he immediately replied "no you don't" - he accused her of lying in order to "screw the insurance company out of more money" - he accused her of recording him - she said she has celiac disease and he replied with "no you don't" - again, no tests were done - when she asked questions, he got frustrated and told her to drop it. He got up, then walked out of the room. Seriously avoid this whole place. This doctor had absolutely ZERO bedside manner and less patience. Find another specialist. read more

Dr. Mullen did total knee replacement on July 19, 2021. I am not quite 3 weeks away from date of surgery . At my 2 week checkup, I walked in without the use of a walker or cane. I finished my at-home PT today, my PT Therapist gave me a A+, I will continue outpatient therapy at nearby facility to gain mobility and strength.. Did it hurt at times, yes of coarse. You only get out of it what you put into it..the two important factors are the surgeon and Physical Therapy. I highly recommend Dr Mullen. Darlene Sell read more

You won't believe this! I thought my appointment was for 2:45 today - Friday. I obviously wrote down the wrong time since they aren't open on Friday afternoon. I didn't know this when I went in and started to write my name on the sign in sheet. Dr Mullen came up and asked me if he could help me. I said I was there for my appointment and he kinda grinned and said they were closed. I was mortified and very embarrassed, even though I had driven 40 minutes to get to the office. (Dr Mullen is the kind of doctor worth driving 40 minutes for.) He smiled and said to come on in anyway. I was there for a gel shot for my knee and he went ahead and gave me the shot. I'll call them on Monday to pay since everything was shut down. Have you ever heard of a doctor doing such a thing? What a great guy. I loved going to his office anyway since his staff is amazing and really friendly, now, he's my favorite doctor ever! I highly recommend Dr Daniel Mullen for all things orthopedic. read more

The office has a strange spirit where the staff seems unhappy and pushy. I am young and felt handled through the entire process. The wait is long. They take X-rays at the beginning without consulting first or explaining what they are doing. Dr.Mullen might be a very capable surgeon but has poor human relation skills and bedside manner. He is lacking basic empathy and kindness and this reflects the tone of the office. I found a new provider and couldn't be more pleased. Cannot recommend them. read more

This Dr replaced my knee two years ago. Now it needs to be redone. It ever stopped hurtine me even after ten years. I never did high impact activities to cause this problem. He was rude to me back then. Never go to this arragorant self centeerd man. read more

Highly-skilled, personable surgeon who really cares about his patients. His entire office staff is friendly and helpful. I interviewed several surgeons before choosing him for my total knee replacement. He uses a minimally invasive technique which helped speed recovery, and left a much smaller scar. I was able to have the surgery at a superb outpatient facility -- much nicer to recover at home, with skilled nursing visits and PT. Yes, you may have to wait awhile to get in to see him. Yes, you may have to wait in the waiting room awhile for your appointment. too. This is because he is the best, and spends time with his patients. I hope I don't have to have my other knee replaced, but if I do, he's the surgeon I'll choose. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Mullen for about 4 years. I have horrible horrendous crap knees. He performed his excellent surgery wizardry (ok, just medicine but it seems like wizardry to me) on both knees on a couple of different occasions. Man can sew up a beautiful line of skin. Seriously though, great bedside manner, tells it to you like it is (which I prefer), takes time for questions, great office staff. No I don't work for him and he hasn't asked me to write this, I just think he is that good. I've been in his office enough (see: crap knees) to know that he goes out of his way to care for others. read more

I had a great experience with Dr Mullen. I went in for a shoulder issue, and wasn't even finished with my initial paperwork before I was being called out of the waiting room for x-rays. Very thorough in his explanation of what was going on, got right to the source of the problem and gave me my treatment options. read more

It's all good! I went down like a slab of meat at the Arizona Haunted attraction when i was being chased by a crazy doctor with a chainsaw! I went to the er and YEP it was broken. This office was the first office that give me a same day appointment. I am so fortunate to have called an office that has a great staff they are so professional and on point and most of all put me at ease. I don't know what the other people were talking about with the less than par reviews. There will always be some patience you just can't please. My family will definitely be coming back to this office for any of our Orthopedic issues in the future. read more

Sadly, I have reached the age where going to the doctor has become a hobby. I am glad to have found Dr. Mullen. I first saw him for a problem with my knee. He examined me very thoroughly, explained all the possibilities, and determined no treatment was needed. That made me happy, knowing he wasn't going to slice me open just because that's what surgeons do. My next occasion was a torn rotator cuff. Surgery went well, but I did not heal well. I have since learned that rotator cuff surgery is one of the worst things you can have. (I previously had frozen shoulder surgery on the other side, which was much less of a big deal.) Dr. Mullen explained that I had to wait a year to make sure all the healing was complete. I continued doing exercises, but still had pain and limited motion. After a year, he went in again, cut away scar tissue & cut the internal stitch. The original repair was as good as new. It's now been another 5 months. My range of motion is about 95%. I still have some pain, but there is improvement every week. I feel well enough to return to swimming this summer. This is a very difficult injury to recover from, so I recommend following PT instructions carefully. Some reviewers have said he was rude when they didn't heal well. I did not see that at all. He was disappointed, because you can't predict how much scar tissue someone will develop, and he took a lot of time to explain how he could correct the remaining problem. Our next occasion was my husband's torn meniscus. That surgery was just last week, and everything went great, just as Dr. Mullen predicted. I love the photos he gives us from the surgery. Yes, you will sometimes have to wait an hour to see the doctor, but that is because he spends as much time as necessary explaining what is wrong and what options are available. Isn't that preferable to doctors who are on the clock, only spend 5 minutes with you, and don't even touch you to see what's wrong? read more

Dr. Mullen replaced my hip. He was referred by two friends who had knee and shoulder replacements. He Is a great guy who takes the time to actually explain things to you. Has great bedside manner and takes the time to answer all of your questions. I was barely able to walk when I first went in. Two weeks after total hip replacement I'm ridding my mountain bike several miles a day. Thank you Doc, I'll be back for you to fix my shoulders. read more

I am giving them one star because they got me in with my son who had a broken clavicle. I was able to be seen by Kelly Connor the PA. When we arrived with the X-ray from urgent care the told me they needed their own xrays and they would need to retake it. So much for limiting radiation on a young patient. We were seen by Kelly the PA who was somewhat condescending to me and my son. He was in a lot of pain and they confirmed he had a fracture in the collar bone. I told her he cried all night and I was wondering if she could give him something for pain. She told me they do not give pain medication to children. I told her agin how the Motrin alternating with Tylenol was not helping and she told me I would be in for a few sleepless nights. I did not think that children could not be prescribed pain medication so I went to pharmacy to ask if that was true. The pharmacist assured me children are given pain meds all the time. I had to call my pediatrician to get something for my sons pain. I think that Kelly Connor was unprofessional to allow my son to suffer. She never told me to call my pediatrician to get a medication to alleviate my sons pain. She told me to allow him to be uncomfortable and that no one gives pain meds to children anymore. Had I believed her my little boy would have continued to suffer. I wonder how many other kids seen by her have suffered unnecessary pain. I would advise against seeing Kelly Connor. As she is a heartless provider. The office staff were friendly enough though. read more

Dr. Mullen was fabulous when he examined my shoulder. He ordered an MRI and took his time in explaining the results to me in a follow up. We developed a treatment plan and a Plan B. He is a very bright, kind, patient, articulate man. read more
