After calling around for the past 2 weeks, I've finally found the right locksmith for my car. Rafael from Advanced Locksmith & Security stood out from all the different locksmiths I've spoken to over the phone because 1) the first person who was honest enough to say that cylinders are most likely repairable 2) first person who quoted me the lowest price. I mentioned to him repeatedly that our budget is really tight and he patiently explained how much I would spend, worse case scenario. So I made an appt and this morning he showed up on time and fixed what's needed to be fixed/replaced. Reliable and trustworthy. He also charged us less than what was originally quoted. We're a very satisfied customers and Advanced Locksmith & Security is highly recommended. Believe us, you won't regret calling this company. Tip: It's very important to jot down the company's name and the person you spoke with along with the pertinent info given to you and whether you felt comfortable talking to this person when calling around several different companies. I have been trying to contact Raphael @ 925-634-1965 after I spoke to him on Monday morning Oct 9, 2017 to schedule an after-2PM house re-keying visit in Oakley on the same day. Since the service was to be done at a vacant property, I agreed to leave the house key under the rock outside of the house. expected a service completion call, and thus, I would conduct payment over the phone. However, there was no call received Monday evening. After unsuccessful attempts to contact Advanced Locksmith, I went to retrieve the house key the next day, and I've been trying to call Raphael @ his listed business number above since then, and received the 'voice message has not been setup..,etc' after one ring. I've read Raphael' s reply comment to a customer posted review on October 5th, 2017, and learned of his family tragedy in recent days, so I thought he might be out again to take care of family business. However, given that I'm in no rush to get the house key re-keyed, I've called him a number of times in the last 10 days @ the business listed number. No luck. Simply, I don't know what to do with the $100 service voucher I bought from Advanced Locksmith on Monday October 9th via Yelp promotional purchase ($100 for $125 worth of service.) I decide I'm going to call another local locksmith company soon. I'm not sure what is going on with Advanced Locksmith, or to Raphael, but I hope all is well with him and family. I will update my rating accordingly when I am better informed. 6:35 PM Update: Just got off the phone with Raphael, and was informed of the reason for his absence. Note: please be informed that he is currently not in town, and his business number won't work until early next week. After talking to Raphael, I feel much better about his Yelp rating. He seems genuinely concerned about his business. I boosted his review (up one star) for his effort to call to clear things up. I will update the review again after we have a chance to complete our service request and fulfillment next week. 10/30/2017 Update: Raphael made a trip last week to visit the property, made the assessment of the lock types, and giving me the service options. It turned out I had other option, which I think is better than re keying. Thanks to Raphael for offering the advice, and charged nothing for the service trip. I had previously posted a bad review on Advanced locksmith & security that I removed and I am rewriting a new one. When my mom first called advanced locksmith to come out and make a key an appointment was made but Rafael was not able to show up do to an emergency with the sheriffs office. My mom rescheduled and he was not able to make it due to unforeseen family emergencies. Rafael is very nice and explained everything to my parents of what was going on and at one point in the beginning he did offer my parents to go to a different locksmith because he was not going to be able to come. Now the only complaint is the employees who did not answer calls when my mom tried calling and the lack of communication but with everything going on I do not blame him. Rafael did come out and installed a key lock on the door very fast polite and basically a great guy just got off on the wrong foot. His work was great no complaints. My prayers go out to Rafael and his family and all the loved ones who lost their loved one. read more

I'm surprised by the negative reviews as my experience was quite the opposite. I had an emergency situation where my 2-year old closed our laundry room door and managed to lock the door. The laundry room is not toddler proof. Frantic, I looked up local locksmiths and Advanced Locksmith & Security was the first on the list. It was Sunday afternoon and i was afraid companies would be closed or would not answer the phone. Rafael answered the phone and said he would be at our home in 5 minutes. He arrived on time. I told him I don't care about the hardware and to do whatever it takes to get the door open quickly. I was also worried there's a chance my son may get injured when the door was forced open. Rafael was professional and competent, and also reassuring towards my toddler who was getting irritable. We have Baldwin locks and they aren't easy to break through. Rafael was able to force the lock open in probably 10 minutes. He then shared with me that interior doors are hollow and easy to bust a hole using a hammer and reach through the opening to unlock the door if needed, versus exterior doors that are solid. This is very good knowledge to have as a parent, as kids will do the most unexpected things and there may be a time when I may need to force a door open myself if a locksmith is unavailable. So anyway, Rafael didn't need to bust our door, and although I told him he can wreck the hardware if needed, he hardly left any damage.... only a minor scratch. Also, during the time he was trying to force the lock open, I was looking underneath the door to see where my son was standing relative to the door knob. Whenever his feet was seen standing behind the door knob, i'd let Rafael know because I was concerned my son may get injured if the door or knob was forced open at that moment. Rafael was attentive to my concerns and also reassuring that he would not injure my son when forcing the door open. He was right. Rafael was very competent with each step and i am really grateful for his quick response time, timeliness, professionalism, and competence in his work. If I trust someone in an emergency, I know I can trust him under normal circumstances. And Rafael is that sort of locksmith. I HIGHLY recommend him. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Very professional, price up front, and gave us piece of mind! Just moved into our home. Wanted to re-key our locks. So I called the first name that came up. He had no reviews. But figured it was just to re-key some locks. Giant mistake! When the guy showed up he tried to charge me more then it would be to buy all brand new, high end locks. So I told him I wanted to do some pricing. He then started yelling at me and tried to charge me triple the service call fee. To top it all off he stole my house key! I have never been so shaken up. Still needing our locks re-keyed plus not having a house key, I called Rafael. He suggested I call the police and make a report for my previous experience. (This way I could get the guy's license number and make a formal report. Hoping to stop it from happening to anyone else. ) When he showed up he was extremely professional, friendly, knowledgable, and got the job done quickly. The pricing was very reasonable and the customer service was second to none. Rafael has restored my sense of safety and security in my own home. He also installs security cameras. I cannot believe that all positive reviews were left by real people. I had a "luck" to see Rafael (the owner and the only repair man in the company) in June 2012 in Brentwood. He charged me in advance with $$ for the work that has not been done and promised to finish it in a couple of days. Needless-to-say that he has never shown up again. All my attempts to find him and talk to him were unsuccessful. His phone was dead for me. I complained to BBB, but he did not respond on BBB request either. He is really a rip-off artist. If I could give more stars I would. When I called, Raphael answered the phone right away. He was on a job at the time but still was able to help me. He was kind and very professional. I had a safe issue and had made an appt for him to come out and look at it. In the mean time he gave me tips and suggestions on how to maybe fix my problem.
