Condescending, and Unprofessional Experience…read more I had a terrible experience at MyEyeDr in Burtonsville, MD. The optometrist I saw was rude, disrespectful, condescending, and arrogant from the very start. My exam began thirty minutes after my scheduled appointment time, and because no follow-up information was retained from my previous visit, I was forced to repeat my personal concerns out loud in front of other customers--an uncomfortable and inappropriate situation that showed a clear lack of professionalism and discretion. During the exam, she actually pressed the eye machine against my face, showing a careless and dismissive attitude toward my person. What made it worse was that she behaved this way in front of my daughter, which was both humiliating and upsetting. Instead of treating me with courtesy and respect, she acted as if my follow-up exam was a personal inconvenience rather than a professional opportunity to ensure my prescription was correct. I left feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed. No patient should ever be treated this way, especially in a healthcare setting. I will never return to this location and do not recommend this optometrist to anyone who values professionalism, empathy, or respect.

Told associate I didn't opt in for this, they dismissed me and still kept the charge and claimed they verbally told me. Called back and the same associate that claimed they told me said "I don't know what you want me to do." Told him maybe there should be written agreement of this, he said "That's how we do things at MyEyeDr." Totally unacceptable. I want my refund for this, and I will not be returning.

This year I felt hopeful. Despite switching my appointment last minute (one hour notice) to a remote visit because of the doctor's illness, the customer service was very good. I specifically noted that I had not been notified my contacts were in the previous year and she promised to contact me. A month after my appointment, I check the website. It says my contacts are not in and to give them more time. Finally I call the office. They take a full 24 hours to get back to me to let me know they are in. I pick them up and the bag is dated as arriving one week after my appointment and lists "first patient notification" for the same day. Nope. And no apology or acknowledgment of this ridiculous oversight and poor service.

Go and find the book of Dr Bates and his method. By the way, My Eye Dr Laurel sent me this text message to instill fear in me and clients: "Did you know: of the estimated 93 million US adults at high risk for vision loss, only half visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months. Regular eye care can have a life-changing impact on preserving the vision of millions of people." These people and in the US healthcare system in general are driven by profit. Remember that: profit. Most eye problems are caused by stress and the type of food we eat. Buy physiology textbook and study the eye, the brain and our body. These so called eye doctors and doctors in general only treat symptoms, not the cause.
