I have been seeing Dr. Callahan for over 20 years, following a traumatic foot infection that…read morehospitalized me for a week. Since that time I have been treated with respect and courtesy every time I visit or call, and have never had any problems with The Doc or his staff. Moving to N. California for a couple of years I was forced to see a different podiatrist who could not offer the quality of service I received at Santiam Foot Clinic. I was very glad to return to Oregon and reconnect with this office. My wife is also a patient here, and has also received great care. Dr. Callahan always asks me about her during my visits, and is always friendly and caring. He enjoys his job and loves people, and it shows in his behaviour. You can expect to be regaled with a variety of stories while he tends to your digits and I frequently find myself in near hysterics at his tales, but this never detracts from the medical professionalism with which we are treated. Whenever I visit I'm greeted warmly and professionally at the front desk, and when I've had billing questions (which has been rare) they've been handled courteously.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The office manager, April (who also happens to be the doctor's…read morewife), is unbelievably rude, unprofessional, and downright combative. She racially profiled a patient and refused to listen when I tried to explain that, as the administrator of a self-funded Taft-Hartley (union) plan, only certain people have access to my records. Ever heard of PHI or HIPAA? Clearly not--especially given some of your unprofessional responses to negative reviews. To make matters worse, she refused to see the patient despite a valid insurance ID card, falsely claiming it was "expired." It wasn't. The date on the card simply indicated when it was last revised. But rather than admit her mistake, they doubled down and refused service. Absolutely unacceptable. Avoid this place at all costs. If this is how they treat patients before even stepping into the exam room, I can only imagine how careless they are with actual medical care.

I become aware of Cascade through my friend Frank Foster a former fellow patients now (now…read moredeceased). I for four brought him to his appointments and also sat in on the sessions sometimes. I could see why he was always talking about the fact that he experienced such excellent care from the doctors and the assistants who had taken care of his feet. When brought another patient for her appointment last week I filled out the paperwork and asked for a appointment. Surprised- I was able to get the appointment a week later!. The same patient I had taken to cascade a week earlier also was taken to another doctor the same day earlier than my first appointment with cascade. Her appointment ran late and I was 10min Late. But the staff worked around the Tardiness and was able to still be seen. It was a great experience- Corena was so inviting and quickly got the paperwork for me. She handed me off to Ruby CMA and she got the rest of the info needed. Dr Tippet came in the first ten minutes gathered some more info about the reason for the visit, he fixed the toe, Ruby came in and finished the toe and scheduled the next appointment! It was so refreshing to see the teamwork and that no one 'Sweated the small stuff '!!!! An excellent addition to my personal Healthcare group!! They are unwitting- Ly going to assist me in one of my life Goals- living to 90yrs+. Just turned 70 Last July! The only mistakes were Ruby Thought I was younger than I am, and I Thought she was younger than she is. Great minds think alike. Of course Ruby Has an advantage over me- she is much more beautiful and attractive than me. Thank you all for the great First visit! I'll do my best to be on time in the future!!

To top it off, Cascade Collections charges interest, which I could never understand. If someone can't afford the initial charge, they're going to make it higher by charging interest?! Yeah, that makes sense. In the beginning I didn't have co-pays and all of a sudden I do?! If the person making my appt had told me that, I could've politely said no thanks. I can get my toenails done cheaper at a nail salon. I'm diabetic so I know what to look for. I truly did like Dr Rich and the medical assistants. It's the front office staff that needs a few customer service pointers. I would actually recommend Cascade Foot Center to those patients that have the $$ to go there.

Dr. Scott Berg diagnosed Morton's neuroma and two injections of cortisone have me pain-free and holding. Dr. Berg is the hard-charging, superorganized male type and can startle you, making you think he works too fast, but you can't argue with results and the billing, telephone communication, and coronavirus prophylaxis was 100% efficient. The anatomy of the foot and ankle is very complex and even with the finest orthopedic surgeon there can be outcomes that are disappointing. Parking is a little tight and the entrance close to a very busy stoplight. The architecture is modern, high ceilings, hard surfaces, and the acoustics are atrocious. Seniors with hidden hearing loss will find communicating with staff to be quite wearing.

Still burned about Coastline screwing with me. I know it wasn't about money and what they could bill, not on Medicaid/ Medicare. Guess they didn't care I was walking around in pain on a broken ankle. I am now scheduled to go back for my other foot reconstruction surgery with Cascade clinic, same one I had the ankle break. It's time. I'm really glad I was referred to Cascade. Seems there are some providers out there who still care about you. If you are looking at Coastline, you may want to look elsewhere. Also, zero apologies from Coastline. Nice :/

The reason why I had to put down 3/5 is the security. I know that most Salem clinics have bag checks and security, while thats fine, I don't appreciate nor was it appropriate to joke and comment on my bag's items to the other security, calling and laughing at my stuff saying "girl bag". That was the most embarrassing thing because it wasn't even whispered and everyone heard it. Not cool at all.

I have been on hold for over 45 minutes on more than one occasion until I just gave up. You are directed to use the website which mostly goes in circles with no way to make an appointment or email your doctor. The phone number on their website does not go the clinic. All previous medical history with the clinic was wiped out when Salem Health took over so the doctor did not have any history on me even though I had several procedures there. While it is necessary to have searches at the door nowadays, the company contracted for the job is rather unprofessional. The employee comments on contents in your purse and rummages around more than necessary. And the tattoos, piercings etc. do not look appropriate for a medical setting.

I am really shocked to read these other yelp reviews... I…read morehave lived in the area now for almost a year. I am a transplant from the Midwest. So you can imagine the culture shock of setting into a new town. I have never been a "west coast"er, nor was I really aware of how life here would be. Coming from the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest cities in the US, it's a really nice change of pace. One of the physicians at Salem clinic was recommended to me, and I've been seeing her for a few months now. She was a great fit for me, I got lucky [but honestly, they have a lot of docs, if I didn't like her I could have easily chosen another]. I have been to the South clinic, and I have been to the Main clinic. I have been the recipient of many different services at both, including testing, blood work, and standard care. From the confirmation of your appointment process, to the check in process, to the processing of patients as they pile in [and they do pile in-have you seen those lines? Wow...], I have witnessed nothing but kindness and professionalism. In fact, I was shocked at the manner in which their staffs in both locations were consistent. In my opinion there should be a BASIC level of service supplied by all administrative support staff in every industry [ESPECIALLY healthcare] and yet-taking care of people [something that should be held in the highest regard] is so flippantly overlooked. I challenge you to walk into any clinic in the Midwest and see if you are treated the same way, other than being herded like cattle and left to sit for some indefinite amount of time at the mercy of their schedules. Whether it is a Walgreens clinic, or a private practice. You are on their time, not the other way around and you will wait. There was not one patient that walked through those doors that was not greeted with a good morning, or a hello may I help you. Private facilities like this just don't exist anymore where I come from.

They recently moved away from the more universal Mychart and implemented their own version. What a nightmare that has been. They lost records and I can't even work with them. I decided to start using a private lab because they offer substantialy more tests for significantly less money. Why should I be forced to use their lab? I assume they didn't like this because they absolutely refuse to load the results into their version of Mychart, despite me calling many times and providing them the results twice. I mailed them and delivered in person because they refused to accept them electronically or download them from the lab. Last visit they told me at least three times they are a business and eventually refused to see me as a patient. Keep in mind I owe them nothing so it is not a billing or payment issue. Go anywhere else if you can. They are horrible.
